About Mireille Joly Vallet

My family is originally from Faucon and has been here for many generations. My brother and nephew are winemakers in Faucon. I presently live in the Paris area and I wanted, for my children, my grand children and I, to accommodate a family house in the land of our ancestors, for the holidays.

Since it is sunny all year round, the exceptional view of the village and the Mont-Ventoux are very much appreciated by the inhabitants and the visitors of the house.   • 2 double beds, 4 single beds, 1 baby cot. The rooms are located upstairs. 2 of them, of 9 sqm, with 140/190 beds, and walk-in cupboards. Each one has a window facing east. The 3rd one, of 25 sq.m, has four 90/190 beds, a wardrobe, and shelves. It has two windows, one facing east and the other one facing west. All the bedding dates from 2005. Most of the mattresses are made of latex and with slatted frames.

Large living room of 45 sqm: Large extending dining table, for up to 12 people; two comfortable sofa with pillows, a sideboard, etc. Open plan kitchen: Brushed-aluminium kitchen: 5 gas hobs with a security; electric E0 catalytic oven, and convection. Refrigerator-freezer, microwave oven, dishwasher, and washing machine. Large double sink, (called timbre d'office), fitted kitchen installed in December 2012 with many drawers and 3 counter tops. Saucepans and crockery of many sizes, adapted for large families as well as for couples. Large 60 sqm terrace with panoramic view of the village and the Mont Ventoux. You can use a plancha, a BBQ and enjoy your meal under the shade of the large arbour adorned with a Virginia creeper. Garden furniture: 3 tables, chairs and loungers. Swing frame: with 2 swings, a climbing rope, and a trapeze, all very large.

Lovely home away from home!

Stayed at La Grange for 3 nights with family including a toddler and we thoroughly enjoyed our time in this charming home in Faucon, a quiet village in the Provence. Will definitely consider coming back!

Vive la France!

We found the house a beautiful, charming and very comfortable place to stay in. Faucon remains a true provencal village, undamaged by 'modern' world, though it is sad that the village church is mostly closed and masses very rare.

Nathalie was very friendly and helpful. The wines made by the Joly family are delicious.

Beautiful home in a great location.

Our family of four really enjoyed our stay in this large house in Faucon. The village is small and peaceful with a beautiful view of Mt Ventoux and surrounding vineyards. Our children loved the swingset in the yard and we all made good use of the garden and patio. The house is enormous with plenty of room for at least 6 people. The open kitchen was very well equipped. The beds were comfortable and it was very quiet at night. The house is well situated for visiting Vaison la Romaine as well as other towns in the area. Nathalie was kind and welcoming. She was concerned about noise from the construction across the street but we did not find it bothersome.

We would return to stay in this house if we are in the area again. Thank you!

Great village location

We had a lovely stay in this comfortable house, which is very conveniently situated on the edge of Faucon. We enjoyed being able to walk to the excellent boulangerie and to the nearby restaurants, where we had some delicious meals. One of us also enjoyed pleasant walks on the quiet little roads and tracks in the surrounding countryside. Nathalie provided a warm welcome and looked after us very well. We loved renewing our acquaintance with the surrounding towns and villages (especially Vaison and Nyons) and revisiting favourite vineyards and co-ops, as well as some excursions to places we hadn't visited before (such as Buis-les-Baronnies). The onion tart at La Loupiote (on the road out of Vaison towards Carpentras) remains the best we've ever had! We left Faucon laden with lovely wines and Nyons olives.

The weather was beautiful most of the time, though we did have one or two exciting thunderstorms. It's the first time we have stayed in a house without a fireplace and we would certainly have missed that if we had had more rainy or chilly days - a fire is cheerful even if not strictly needed for warmth!

We had been slightly concerned beforehand about potential noise from the road. In fact this bothered us very little; the only disturbance came from a village party celebrating the end of the grape harvest and this seemed well justified! We noted some previous comments about noise from agricultural activities - these were no more than you would expect in any village or country location and did not bother us in the slightest.

The house is well-equipped. We prefer a cafetiere (press) rather than a coffee machine, so we bought one and donated it for the benefit of future visitors. We also added to the collection of clothes pegs!

Authentic Provence experience

The house is very spacious with a great deck looking toward the Faucon village center with Mt Ventoux in the distance. The location is in a bustling agricultural area (vineyards) a short walk from the old village center. It is an authentic Provence experience where the day to day lives of the people who live and work there play out around you. If you want a place where the only sound is bird songs and wind in the trees this may not be for you. If the sounds of rural agricultural life, which includes the ubiquitous small tractors coming and going, is soothing rather than annoying, then this is the right place.

The bakery in the village center, a 5 minute walk away, is itself a reason to stay in Faucon. It is renowned in the region and virtually at your doorstep.

Ours was a biking holiday with nearly infinite choice of routes in every direction of the compass. This was a perfect place for launching out on daily rides but perhaps the best use of the house is for families and groups that can take advantage of all the beds, kitchen, swing set, washing machine, dishwasher, and living space.

This cottage is very comfortable, well maintained, well appointed and in a great location.

We particularly enjoyed our stay in Faucon using it as a base to explore the region. We appreciated the warm welcome and assistance we received from Nathalie and from people we met in the village. We recommend the restaurant 'Le Laurier' and the boulangerie. We also visited the Tuesday markets in Vaison la Romaine for fresh local produce.

We were a group of 6 adults and found the cottage very comfortable in accommodating our needs. Thank you for allowing us to stay. Our only regret was that we were unable to stay longer.

The medieval village of Faucon is not far from the historical and cultural cities of Vaison la Romaine (6 km), Orange, Carpentras, Grignan, Nyons and Avignon, where art, history and festival lovers (dance, music, theatre, choralies) will be able to enjoy easily. In the restaurants, wine cellars, and the bakery of the village, food lovers will taste the wines (Côtes du Rhône, Côteaux du Ventoux...), olives, oils, fruits and local products.

For swimming, you can go to the pools in Nyons and Vaison or to the Ouveze and Toulourenc Rivers.

Finally, the city of Vaison, historic centre (Roman ruins, Roman theatre, archeological museum) offers all shops, doctors, hospital, cinema and a big Provencal market on Tuesdays with many loca and handcrafted products.
