My family and I had the pleasure to stay in this gorgeous Montana cabin on the weekend of September 17th. First of all, we were blown away by the location; the dwelling is nestled in a beautiful valley, completely engulfed in tall pines and surrounded by lakes and a rocky stream. As we checked the place out, we were struck by its cleanliness and how well it had been updated. As my kids explored the trout-filled lakes and creek, my wife and I grabbed a glass of wine on the deck and sat there utterly speechless. Having just left the city hours ago, here we were, seeming on the set of "A River Runs Through it".
It seems like every little little detail was tended to: great signage and explanation of services, ample fresh linens, board games, a ping pong table, satellite tv, and the list goes on and on.
For the first time in a very long time, our electronics stayed mostly off. Our family was exploring the gorgeous grounds, fishing, and simply taking it all in. We saw deer, rabbits, squirrels, and even a moose! To top it off, on our last day we saw a black bear high on the mountain side turning over rocks.
It was a weekend our family will never forget. We highly, highly recommend this rental to anyone who wants a true taste of Montana mountain living.
When we first arrived at the cabin, several deer were grazing on the grass in between the beautiful ponds and Rock Creek, that runs alongside the property....what a beautiful welcoming it was! After unloading our cars, from our long, two day drive from California, we (the ten of us) opened a bottle of wine on the deck, as we watched fish jump as the sun was setting, which was truly breathtaking! The next morning when having a cup of coffee on the sofa and looking out onto the property we saw a black bear and her cub strolling by the road. We immediately got our cameras and captured some spectacular photos, that we will treasure from our Montana adventure. This cabin was everything and more that we ever would have expected. All you need is a camera, and some hiking shoes....staying here was truly an adventure we will never forget! We look forward to hopefully coming back, and staying here next year!
Our family of 12 found this beautiful retreat for our 5-day get -away and we couldn't have been happier with our choice. It is cozy, well maintained and equipped and so beautifully located. We hated to leave and cannot wait to return to our newly discovered "home away from home!"
What an amazing place! We fished, we hiked, shopped and relaxed. The cabin is beautifully equipped and the setting is unbelievable. We saw deer, moose and a bear from the front deck. Red Lodge offers so much to do and is very close to Yellowstone National Park. This property is one of kind!
We travel as a family often, usually opting for camping due to the size of our group. This trip was six adults and 9 children between 4-14. The cabin was perfect. Plenty of space and laid out so we could break off into smaller groups without getting in each other's way, but also set up so there was room for family meals together, either inside or (especially nice) on the deck overlooking the ponds. Large area outside for the kids to play games, and plenty of sleeping space inside. (The bunk room was especially appreciated. Let the kids do their bonding thing at night without keeping the adults up.)
The place is very clean and well cared for, and it is obvious the owners are committed to their property. There is a large living area with a nice big screen and satellite, but we spent most of our time outside - the main reason we travel to begin with. Weather was perfect, even the afternoon sprinkles we got most days we were there. The location is pretty well nestled in the woods, and even though we only saw one native animal (an elk), you could tell they were there - pretty sure the kids sounds kept them away.
It is a little further to Yellowstone than I anticipated when booking, not in mileage but in driving time, but then again we found this to be the case everywhere we went on this trip - it is a better journey when you take your time here. The Beartooth Highway is an unbelievable drive, but if you are not prepared for it, it can be a little overwhelming.
I would definitely book this property again if we make it back up that way, and recommend it highly for anyone wanting a beautiful getaway in the woods.
Nice place but needs attention. Trees and schrubs need to be thinned out providing a view of the area. Outdoor furniture needs to be glued or replaced. Kitchen cabinets need to replace shelves and/or supports. Need an exterior paint job.
