Born and raised in Penn Yan, this was the cottage we fell in love with after looking for 10 years.
Steve & Beth purchased this cottage in 2013
If you love being near the water, going for a morning swim, hiking in the woods, taking a bike ride on tree lined roads, or boating to your favorite restaurant this is the cottage for you.
We recently stayed for a girls weekend and the house was beautiful! The large deck overlooking the water was where we spent most of our time, there is a large dining table and very nice and comfy furniture on the deck to enjoy the view of the lake. The inside was spotless and the new bathroom is gorgeous. The kitchen was very well stocked also. We had 6 in our group and we never felt like there wasn't enough room inside or out. Some of us would drink coffee right on the dock where they have 2 chairs set up or some would stay on the deck and there was also a sunroom where we had breakfast. The fire pit on the water was great too and they left us wood, kindling, paper, etc which was very nice. The owners left a bottle of wine from a local winery for us upon our arrival and they were very accommodating and helpful. We will definitely be back!!
This is our second stay at your lovely cottage along the shores of Keuka Lake. Gets better with age and upgrades to Steve & Beth's house. Love the new bathroom. It is so nicely appointed & convenient. There wasn't a single moment wasted while we were there.
The deck is always a big hit with the size and views. Younger members of the group enjoyed canoeing while the rest of us cheered them on with our drinks in hand.
The deck & stairs would benefit with additional lighting to aid in seeing at night time. While the solar lights are nice they do not give proper aid while walking.
We love our annual trips to the area for the Keuka Lake Wine Trail. The Wind Mill is another reason to visit the area. Everything is nearby and the peace and harmony the lake provides is just the ticket to come and stay awhile.
Looking forward to next year already.
The property was amazing and very well taken care of. Extremely clean. The home owners were pleasant and more than accommodating
We had a family rendezvous at this wonderful place on Keuka. The cottage itself is great with the new addition of a gorgeous bathroom and shower. We had a party of six plus a baby and had plenty of room with the three bedrooms and 2 baths. We have stayed at numerous similar places and I have never seen a more well equipped place. The owners, Steve and Beth were very open to use of everything that was in and around the place - 2 kayaks, rowboat, canoe, life jackets and on and on. We had great waterfront fires every night around the fire pit and used the new, large gas barbecue to grill (a Weber kettle is also on site for purists). Plenty of chairs on site and a fabulous teak table on the deck for outdoor meals. We ate breakfast out there nearly every day.
We had a minor issue in having the washer unit fail shortly before we arrived. The owner was quite apologetic and advised us of the circumstance prior to our arrival. We made some minor plan modifications to use a Laundromat if necessary and brought a few extra beach towels. Steve and Beth came down one evening and created a temporary "fix" to the washer unit so it could be used. We were very grateful for them going out of their way to work on this on a work night even though we consider it, at most, to be a very minor inconvenience.
The unit has two docks and a swim raft and the owner offered use of his boat lift should we need it. We docked our rental pontoon boat on site for the ultimate in convenience. Steve offered complete use of his fishing equipment and tackle. Be aware that the Department of Environmental Conservation does patrol the lake and you need a fishing license to fish from the dock.
One of the reviews indicated that you could just bring your clothes and a beach towel and need nothing more. That review was spot on. There is even a little lending library of books if you forgot your favorite summer beach read.
The location is great with the small city of Penn Yan about 20 minutes away with a major Tops supermarket and other conveniences. A wine tour that takes you down either side of the lake and ends up in Hammondsport on the bottom of the lake -a great day trip. The lake is never really that busy with boats, even on a hot summer weekend - quite surprising.
All in all, a great vacation spot, a fabulous cottage with significant upgrades and modifications and solid responsive owners. They truly take any hassle out of your vacation trip in the Finger Lakes.
Lots of small touches that go a long way in helping guests to feel at home and relaxed. We really appreciated the various conveniences of the fully stocked kitchen, toiletries, paper products and linens available. We had absolutely everything we needed and more. The new addition and bathroom are just beautiful, high quality craftsmanship and overall cottage decor is indeed charming. The deck, umbrella table and comfy sitting areas outside is wonderful, we enjoyed the deck area from sunrise to sunset! Everything was just immaculate! Can't think of anything I can suggest or would change other than maybe ceiling fans or additional outlets in bedrooms to plug additional fan. Our week was full of sunshine and temps in upper 80-90's which was great for being on the lake during the day but made sleeping not as comfortable. Overall we had a very enjoyable and restful stay. Definitely would recommend to friends and family!!
Another great week in June on Keuka Lake. It was our second week renting Steve and Beth's Lakeside Cottage and it was better than ever. Spectacular sunsets, easy and functional lake access, comfortable bedrooms, and now an additional bathroom downstairs. It made for a great week enjoying the sun and the lake. The setting is quiet-perfect for families seeking peace and quiet. Steve and Beth's cottage has everything you need to enjoy your stay. Hope to return again next June
