Description

Photos and Description of this 2 bedroom holiday cabin in Girdwood - Crystal Mountain Cabin

Mountain Views From This Newly Remodeled 2 Bedroom, 2 Bathroom Log Home.

Girdwood is the perfect location for your summer and winter adventure base. Its close proximity to Anchorage and the Kenai Peninsula make it an ideal place for a unique and memorable experience.

Relax with all the comforts of home in our beautiful and cozy log cabin. The Crystal Mountain Cabin comfortably accommodates 6 guests (or up to eight with the twin beds, for a small additional fee). This lovely cabin is a great place to get away for couples, families and friends. The large open floor plan has a great room feel downstairs with one bedroom and full bathroom. The 3/4 loft has 2 queen sized beds and is separated by a large ceiling height partition. There is a small bathroom in the loft.

The living room is a great place to spend time, with the gas fireplace that is very inviting. Our modern kitchen is fully equipped with everything you would need to cook at home. The large bathroom downstairs has its own washer and dryer.

Girdwood is home to world class downhill and cross country skiing! It is only a short, two minute walk to the lifts of Mt. Alyeska and a quicker ski home to your cabin. Moose Meadows is directly down the street and it is your access point to the extensive nordic ski trails.

About Cindy Ryan and Doug Robbins

This cabin is owned by life long Alaskans. Doug grew up in Seward, and Cindy in Anchorage. We love living in Alaska and would be happy to assist you with ideas of places to visit, go fishing and hiking during the summer.

Cindy Ryan and Doug Robbins purchased this cabin in 2014

Why Cindy Ryan and Doug Robbins chose Alaska

As avid downhill and cross country skiers, we were fortunate to be able to use this wonderful cabin during the winters for many years as it belonged to family friends. We were overjoyed when they offered us the opportunity to buy it from them. It is the perfect spot to ski down for a quick lunch, break or dinner if you are night skiing. It is safe and quiet and a great place for kids.

We spent our summer totally remodeling almost every aspect of the cabin; upgrading plumbing, electrical, appliances, and decks. It was a true family effort and our 17 year old daughter worked right along with us and was a blessing as well as a huge help!!

What makes this cabin unique

This location and scenery are truly spectacular. It is on a quiet dead end street. There is no need to drive anywhere. It is walking distance to nearby restaurants, bars, and stores. Nearby trails offer great hiking and biking and the shuttle is nearby.

Perfect

If there were 6 stars I would have given it...that good! The cabin is cozy and very well-appointed. It has been recently renovated and the bed was comfortable, the outdoor area perfect for relaxing (I actually had sun 2 of the 3 days), the living area was perfect, and the upstairs library/secondary sleeping area was really special. There is no TV, which was a huge positive to me, but the wireless was fast. The owners and property managers were amazing. They refunded my deposit promptly and went beyond my expectations. I will stay here the next time I come to Alaska. It is way better than Aleyska resort if you really want to have an (upscale) Alaska/rustic experience.

It is an amazing house in a quiet neighborhood

  • 5 of 5

We stayed 2 nights in this lovely house. The house is amazingly cozy and spatial. I particularly love the view from the house, it feels like we are living in the wood yet in reality we are close to town and convenient store. There is no TV in the house, but we don't need TV when traveling in Alaska. There are so much to do! The property manager Julie is a really nice lady. We had not personally met her, but she could be easily reached by the phone. There is probably one thing worth mentioning. The properly manager higher recommended a local restaurant Jack Sprat, which also received very good reviews from trip advisor and yelp, we tried that place and would strongly not recommend it. The food were over priced and the portions were so small. We ordered 0.5 lbs crabs there, the crab legs were so small, unlike the regular Alaska king crab legs that you normally see in other restaurants. In total, 6 adults of us spent $244 in a meal but half of us weren't even feeling full. The mussels that they served weren't fresh on that day. I know this has nothing to do with the review of Crystal Mountain Lodge, but we had huge expectation on that dinner and turned out that was the biggest disappointment in the whole Alaska trip. So for anything who is planning to stay in Girdwood, perhaps it would be good to have dinner elsewhere before coming to Girdwood, that's just my two cents.

Great location and wonderful cabin!

  • 5 of 5

Great location in Girdwood! A short walk to town favorites like the Bake Shop and Jack Sprat. We were very grateful that the owners worked with us and accommodated our unique pet situation during our wedding weekend. Clean cabin with all the essentials. Very friendly booking process with Julie and great communication throughout. Highly recommend!

Beautiful house in a fun town

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful property and very clean. The set up of the home worked great for our family.

Great communication process with Julie --- loved that she checked to make sure all went well with check in ( other vrbo properties have not always done that).

Overall great experience in a fun quaint town.

Awesome property

  • 5 of 5

All new appliances and very clean. It was an awesome stay while having a wedding in Girdwood. Really enjoyed the cabin. Noticed plenty of utensils for cooking even though we did not use them. The property manager made everything smooth and Cindy and Doug have a beautiful cabin.
