Overview

About the property

3 bedroom, 1.5 Bath Mountain Home With Seasonal Lake/Mountain Views

You're gonna love this place. It's a gorgeous, clean, well-maintained, family-oriented 3 bedroom chalet in the Eidelweiss district of Madison, NH, just minutes from North Conway and White Mountain National Forrest.

Getting to this high-altitude cabin is half the fun. You literally feel your ears popping from the altitude as you look out over Mount Chocura on the left and Pea Porridge Pond on the right. You know you're in the mountains.

Although you're in the heart of the white mountains, you won't need to leave behind all the creature comforts of home. The cabin comes fully equipped: air conditioning, high-speed Wifi access, a printer, wood-burning stove (in addition to regular heat), washer/dryer, dishwasher, microwave, range, cable TV with HBO and DVD/Blue Ray player and DVR and Netflix, Keurig coffee maker, and the best part... a 2nd living room/den so the adults can enjoy some peace and quiet in the great room while the kids do their thing downstairs in the den (which also serves as the 4th bedroom). There is also a propane fire pit on the deck.

Once there, take a walk back down the hill to the beach at Pea Porridge Pond where, depending on the season, you can go swimming, kayaking (THE HOUSE COMES WITH TWO KAYAKS AND A PADDLE BOARD FOR YOUR UNLIMITED USE!), or ice skating (bring your own skates).

Also, there are enough nearby attractions to keep a family busy all summer. My favorite is the Kangamangus Highway, 5 minutes away, with its hiking/snowshoeing/cross country skiing trails, covered bridges, waterfalls, and scenic overlooks. You can also go downhill skiing at King Pine (15 minutes away), Cranmore (25 minutes), or Attitash/Bear Peak (30 minutes). Right down the road is a Saco River Canoe Company which leads tubing/kayaking/canoeing trips down the Swift River. Snowmobile rentals are nearby. There's even a year-round dogsledding place.

Lousy weather? Don't care for the outdoors? Go shopping at the factory outlets in North Conway (10 minutes away), go to the movies, or better yet, check out one the Mount Washington Valley's three theater companies. Or how about the railroad museum? Or Tours of Tuckerman's Brew Company?

Have little kids? Take 'em to Santa's Village or Storyland or even the MWV Children's Museum. Have older rambunctious kids who are tired of swimming? How about Monkey Trunks High Rope & Zipline Adventure Park, or take a ride on the Cog Railway, or drive the car up the Mount Washington Auto Road, or take the Snow Cat to the near-top in the winter. (Or believe it or not, hiking up the mountain is not as hard as you think.) Are there mini-golfers in the family? With three nearby mini-golf courses, the MWV is the veritable Hilton Head of min-golf.

The bottom line is that there is so much to do in this area, not even the most hard-to-please, pain-in-the-neck kids will be bored.

If you have any questions at all, please don't hesitate to contact me. I try to respond to all inquiries the same day. I couldn't be happier with this place and I am excited to have others have the opportunity to enjoy it as much as my family, friends, and I have. -Keith

About Keith McCarthy

I am a school-teacher in Massachusetts. I bought this place so my family, friends and I would have a place to gather and have fun together in the winter and summer. So far, I couldn't be happier with it.

Very spacey, and loved the mood the house gave out

  • 5 of 5

Although there's not much to do around the place. (Unless you drive to the surrounding cities.) There's plenty of beds, and all very comfortable. Place was clean, and had a very spacious kitchen for cooking. Only thing was we couldn't get to the cabin for a while because our car couldn't go up the hell due to it being very very Icey. But that's not there fault, other then that 5 stars!

Perfect Family Vacation

  • 5 of 5

We could not have asked for a better location or a better host. The owner is extremely engaged, responsive and truly cares about his guests' experience. The house was the perfect size for our group and had all the amenities we needed for an amazing week of skiing and winter fun. Our hope is to return year after year and continue to build amazing memories at this home.

Perfect.....just perfect!

  • 5 of 5

We highly recommend renting this home. Everything was neat and clean, and there was plenty of room for 2 families with young adults and significant others (11 people total)) and 2 dogs! Beautiful area and close to North Conway. We skied Attitash and shopped the outlets. If you rent this home, you won't be disappointed. Thank you again Keith for opening up your home to us!

Great Mountain Getaway

  • 4 of 5

Economical getaway option for a family ..... We had 4 adults and 6 kids ranging in age from 6 to 17. The house was large enough to accommodate all. House is close to Conway/North Conway with its many shops, restaurants and activities. Keith was quick to respond to questions we had prior to the trip and provided information that was helpful during our stay. Having use of the kayaks and paddleboards at the pond added to the experience for our family. The beach area is small but quiet....perfect for a relaxing day! We would absolutely recommend this house to anyone looking to stay in the area. Just be aware that views from the actual house are limited, but they are never too far away!

Amazing vacation home!

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely would recommend this home for a vacation! This home away from home has everything you need to relax and enjoy. The ride up to the house has some amazing views but you have to check out the summit, breath taking!! Everything was so clean and neat with a very cozy feel. We enjoyed waking up and having our coffee on the amazing deck and ending our day on the deck enjoying the propane fireplace. The week went by way too fast and we weren't ready to leave this fantastic spot.

Thank you Keith!
