My husband & I live in Atlantic Beach Fl where he is Construction Director of Beaches Habitat for Humanity. We get back to Apalach as often is possible where we can rest, relax & rejuvenate, eat oysters & enjoy many friends!
Within walking distance of downtown (2 blocks) but insulated in a quiet residential neighborhood. Close to local nightlife, dining, theatre, art galleries, shopping, boat launch.
I love the wraparound porches, the vaulted bedroom ceilings, the openess of the house and the beautiful sunshine pouring in the front windows along with the downtown churchbells. During special music festivals & parades we can listen & watch from our front porch.
This house fits the bill. Comfortable. Has everything you need. Super convenient location. Definitely will stay here again.
My husband and I absolutely loved our month-long stay at the Peterson's home in Apalachicola. The house is gorgeous - spacious and beautifully furnished. We had the whole house, with wrap-around porches on both floors, plus a patio and grill and smoker in the front yard. Everything in the house is new and in wonderful shape - the property definitely exceeded our expectations. And we loved the town of Apalachicola - it's a real community, everyone is incredibly friendly, and there's lots to do, including learning about about the history of the area, nature walks, driving across the two bridges to the beaches on St. George Island, and eating tons of fresh seafood. I'm ready to move to Apalachicola - or at least go back and stay again at Cathie and Rob's lovely home :)
The house was great, very comfortable, clean and quiet. We had a wonderful time sampling the oysters in different restaurants and taking in all the history of the area. We highly recommend this property as a great place to take a vacation.
This is a beautiful and comfortable home. Everything you might need has been thought about and provided from a well equipped kitchen, internet and cable TV, lovely furnishings -- and all in perfect working order. Apalachicola is fun small town with art galleries, gift shops, antique shops, a micro brewery and many wonderful seafood restaurants. We spent a week exploring the town, exploring the beach (on St. George Island) and canoeing some of the many rivers, creeks and bays nearby. It was a special treat each day to spend our mornings and evenings on one of the large porches. We are definitely returning.
The house is gorgeous: very nicely appointed and comfortable. The bedrooms are big and airy and have very comfortable beds and pillows! Great showers! Great kitchen with everything you need to make yourself at home. Sitting on the porches was one of the great luxuries of the month-long stay. Walking to all downtown locations is easy and if you have a car, the parking area is ample. It only rained 3 days - so we spent 27 of our 30-day vacation exploring the entire area....checking out all of the fabulous Gulf Coast beaches, from Alligator Point in the east to as far west as Panama City Beach....and all beaches in-between: Cape San Blas, Mexico Beach, St. Joe Beach, St. George Island (several beaches and the State Park), Carrabelle, etc. etc. We also hit all the historic homes, the bookstores, the library, the restaurants, art museums and truly experienced the Apalachicola River on a 3-hour trip with the best captain! We went shopping in Panama City and visited grandkids in Tallahassee. And we ate lots of seafood. We were in the perfect location to enjoy the Panhandle to the fullest. And the best part was coming "home" each evening to shower off all the sand, tend to the sunburns and relax in an inviting home. Cathie, the owner, made everything easy, kept us informed when workers were due to tend to the lawn and was available by phone and email if we needed anything. There are many details in the house that show the thoughtfulness of the owners and everything works: A/C, Wi-Fi, washer and dryer (we never used the dishwasher so I don't know about that), the TV/cable - it was perfection! We highly recommend this area for a real vacation - distance yourself from your work, phone, every-day life and just live your life in flip-flops for a while! I really can't say enough about how great this house worked out for us and how much we appreciate Cathie and her passion to make this an ideal home-away-from-home! We will certainly do this again!!!
