Why Scott H. Thompson chose College Heights
When i retire, i'm going to build a Frank-Lloyd-Wright ish house on this creek, it's an amazing piece of property
What makes this House unique
Decatur! Don't get me started..... It's a $5 uber ride to the train station Great dog walking. Great patio for hanging out. It's a side-by-side duplex but you only share ONE wall, and it's a hallway. You share no space at all, separate entrance, everything Late check-ins are never a problem since we'll assign you a door code, and you don't need to meet for your 'key". Early check-in and late checkout depend on both your requests and the preceding/ following guests', then me negotiating something reasonable.
Visitors are totally fine.
Smoke outside only
$15 per pet, per stay. see House Manual
Can provide pack and play with notice
Max guests:11 (sleeps up to 10 adults)
Check-in after 3pm, check-out anytime before 11am unless we have arranged flexibility ahead of time.
Pets totally Ok, within reason. We have blankets to cover furniture/bedding. If your pet is a couch surfer you must use them.
The HOUSE MANUAL (in our email string) includes ALL of the House Rules. Please review and Download/Print PRIOR TO ARRIVAL
100% refund for cancellations more than 60 days before check-in date. 50% refund for cancellations more than 30 days before check-in date.
Only a short drive to downtown, but out enough to be a quiet neighborhood. We spent two nights there for a business trip, it was just as described, and I would stay there again if business takes me that way.
Shabby without the Chic
Compared to the motel room in which we stayed for the first few nights as hurricane evacuees from Myrtle Beach, this place was a paradise. The owner was accommodating in allowing us to check in early, and the place was clean and comfortable. I had paid an extra $30 for my sister but when she ended up in the hospital I requested a refund for her and received it promptly. But then my daughter, also, a hurricane evacuee, showed up for one night, and being the honest person I am, I let the owner know, and he immediately requested payment for her. I realize this is procedure but I just found it tacky and a little greedy, especially since he knew our circumstances. Some owners were opening up their houses for free, and this guy is adding on charges. It didn’t sit well with me. Also, the owner had requested we cover the sofa and chairs with “doggie linens” that were provided for our two large dogs. That didn’t bother me, but honestly, the furniture was not all that nice. That’s where the shabby but not chic comes in. In all honesty, I wouldn’t stay here again. It just left a bad taste in my mouth. (While at the motel, out shopping, a good Samaritan left a note on my car, guessing we were evacuees, and offering us a place to stay.) Wish we’d taken her up on it. But I’d already booked this place, and it was nonrefundable.
I give the place and owner a 0
This was an awful experience. I would give it 0 stars but that is not an option. The place was dirty!!! The kitchen counter was greasy and the entire house was messy. The owner advertises a fenced yard but it’s really a small area of overgrown weeds dirt and trash. It was unusable for our dog. He also states they have a garage which is true but it is filled with his personal things and you can’t park in it. Speaking of parking.... the driveway is gone as it collapsed into the creek below. You must park on the street and walk over a rickety piece of wood that is suppose to be a bridge. It can’t be up to code as it is very dangerous and unsafe. We left early because of these awful conditions and the owner will not refund us for the two unused days. He was rude and difficult to deal with from day one. I would not recommend this house to anyone and I suggest you find a better place in the area. As I read other reviews, those that were unfavorable he came back with nasty comments instead of apologizing. An AWFUL experience!!!
Clean and quiet
Lovely place, clean and quiet. Just as advertised. Happy to recommend this as a great place to stay in Decatur.
Great value, Great Location, Very Spacious
We loved the place. The home is very comfortable and spacious. The location is great. We were close to everything in Decatur as well as only short drive to Atlanta. We stayed for 8 days and had everything we needed. We would stay again.
