Charming Naples Cottage

  • 5 of 5

Dover Cottage was fantastic! Quaint, well-appointed, and in an ideal location. My husband, 10 year old son, and I had a great time. We enjoyed the beach, walking to Tony's Off 3rd for coffee and treats, and feeding the catfish off the public dock. My son also had a fantastic time watching all the lizards in the back yard. Don't hesitate to stay at Dover Cottage; my family certainly hopes to come back! Thanks, Greg, for a wonderful vacation spot.

It was so hard to leave this delightful Cottage.......

A stunning, well presented, clean and stylish Cottage in a perfect location furnished with everything you would need for a relaxing holiday. We fell in love with Dover Cottage as soon as we walked through the door after a tiring 28 hour journey. We were pleased to find the property to be as described in the owners details and by previous reviewers.

Communication with the owner Greg was professional, efficient, friendly and prompt.

We are a lively 60 and 72 year old couple and rather than repeat all the lovely things said in previous reviews we thought we would give you an insight into the many attractions which are close by to Dover Cottage.

We stayed off season mid April for 10 days the weather during our stay was sunshine days with 3 heavy downpours during the night, temperatures were from 74 early on to 90 mid day to 80 early evening.

Our days started each day with a 830am walk down to the beach collecting pretty shells and a paddle, then on to see the Dolphins off the pier and to watch the fishermen bring in their catch. We often collected an excellent coffee from Tony's off third on the way back to the cottage.

Then off to see the following

Botanical Gardens be there by 11am for an excellent guided tour, good cafe for Lunch

Corkscrew Swamp fantastic boardwalk guided tours 930am

Conservancy of Southwest Florida, 45min guided boat tours start at 10am

Bike ride to Lowdemilk Beach - lunch at First Watch

Walk to the dock at Crayton Cove get a water taxi to Tin City shops.

Community Church friendly outdoor service held nearby Cambier Park at 930am Sunday

Palm Cottage, 12th St, a historical walking tour and tour of the house and gardens must pre book Naples Historical Society held on Wednesdays 930am

Walk to 5th Ave south tour the shops and have a coffee or lunch at The Cafe

It was wonderful to come 'home' to Dover Cottage have a cup of tea and chill before going out in the evening.

Our favourite lunch spot was Janes on Third St, they make amazing salads and we enjoyed a very special anniversary evening meal at Bleu Provence 8th st south.

With so many attractions and restaurants close by and the superb accommodation you will find Dover Cottage hard to beat, we shall certainly be recommending it to all our friends.

Thank you Greg for sharing your wonderful home .

Beach chic in fabulous Olde Naples location

  • 5 of 5

My husband & our daughters enjoyed our stay in Dover Cottage over the Easter holiday. The cottage has an amazing location, just a few blocks from the beach & close to all the shops & restaurants. The cottage is spacious yet has a cozy feel. The screened in porch is ideal for a morning read or an evening cocktail. All the basic amenities you need with pleasant decor & appeal. The bikes and beach chairs & towels make the stay all the better! We look forward to our next visit to the Thomas' home away from home!

98% perfect

  • 4 of 5

The location was perfect....blocks from the beach, blocks for the two main shopping/restaurant areas. The cottage was charming and pristine. Books to read; dishes galore (although I didn't cook); spotless kitchen and bath; beds very comfortable, lots of space for eating, sitting. The screened in porch was a plus for quiet morning coffee. My only disappointment was the absence of a personal touch, meaning, every other VRBO place I've stayed, there has always been an owner or property manager who is there to greet and walk thru all the nuances of the condo/house. I arrived at around 7:30 at night. There were no lights on....I had been instructed to use a flashlight to find the lock box on the side of the house.....since I was traveling alone it would have been some reassurance to have a personalized welcome/greeting. Instead when I called for assistance (I mistakenly went to the house next door) I was told "well, no one else ever had this problem!" Not much of a welcome for a first time visitor to Naples!

I would recommend this location and cottage to friends/family. Sleeps four easily....maybe more if on couches.
