Description

Photos and Description of this 2 bedroom holiday chateau / country house in Townsend - River Mist

Tube on the Little River or Fly Fish or take a walk on the bike trail.

River Mist has a great location right on the Little River. This was a 1950's house. Fixed up to be more like a cabin. But the bath rooms are still the same as it was when built. Making it very special if you like retro and modern together. Short distance out the front. There's a walking/bike trail that takes you the full length of Townsend. Ride or walk to store or restaurants. Big yard to play in. Black top drive pulls right into a 2 car carport. Having 2 nice size bed rooms, 2 baths. You have enough room for extra people to put out our roll away beds and have privacy. Nice size front room with Satellite TV, couches with recliners to relax. Big full kitchen with everything you will need to make snacks or big holiday meals. You can sit at the kitchen table and take in the river view out the sliding glass door. Cabin has plenty to offer for everyone.

About Randy Schultz

Moved here years back. Reason being, you will never find a prettier town or village to live in. Work 25 years in a Tool Factory. Came here and started a cabin rental company. It's been the best think I have ever done. There's no place closer to thinking your in Heaven than living in the Smoky Mountains

Why Randy Schultz chose Tennessee

River Mist offers some super moments. You never know what your going to see fly over or land in the river. My see some otters or baby duck and geese swim by. The water color changes with every season. The winter is the best. It turns to a emerald green. But still crystal clear so you can see the fish and turtles.

What makes this chateau / country house unique

You can fly fish, kayak, tube, or just lay back and enjoy the cool water in the summer months. It can get pretty funny watching the tuber float by sometimes. The hot tub is under the carport. So you can cool down in the river. Run back up and warm up in the hot tub. With a big yard there's plenty of room for all the family to play.

Very comfy and welcoming.

The house was great. It had everything we needed and was absolutely spotless. It's right off the parkway, easy to find and you don't need four-wheeled drive and nerves of steel to get in the driveway. The river is right out the back door, although it might be hard for an older person to get right down to the bank. The house itself is very accessible with only a few steps to get in and there were sturdy railings on all parts of the deck. The river is also pretty deep at this spot, better for fishing than some places. It was very quiet and private, not squeezed up against another cabin. (Tubing season was over when we were there, I'm sure it's more noisy during the summer.) The only thing that I could recommend would be some instructions for the TV/DVD, we never did totally figure it out. Oh, and Verizon did not have a good signal at the house, enough to talk on the phone, but not enough to reliably get online. There are plenty of places in town that do have a decent signal, you just have to remember to look up your restaurant reviews, information on attractions, etc. when you're out. It would be great for keeping kids engaged and not huddled over their phones all day. We had way more room than we needed and would love to bring the whole family sometime soon.

right on the river

We enjoyed our stay here very much. The house is well equipped and extremely nice. We stayed in the guest room and the bed was very comfortable. I cooked without having to compromise on dishes and pans. My husband and I each had our own bathroom. The decks were right on the river. The lower one even extended over the river. It is nice and quite here in November. The trees were beautiful. The view is of the river and a bluff, no houses or businesses across the river. We could watch DVD's. A guide to the TV stations would be good. The overstuffed couches are nice but hard on old bad backs. We brought camp chairs and set them up in the living room. The couch and love seat slept pretty good on the late night watching election returns.

The house was pristine when we arrived and the owner was available if you had any questions. (everyone's remotes are different) We enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to our friends, as long as they don't want to go when we plan to return.

Owner's Response: So happy you all enjoyed your stay. We have been very lucky with the fall colors hanging on. Hard to believe the leaves are still on the trees this late in November. We hope you all come back soon and many more times in the future. Thank you all so much, Randy

River Mist Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay although we left several days early due to health issues. The home was very clean and roomy, we would sit on the deck above the river drinking our coffee in the mornings watching numerous geese as they came up the river, we also saw a beaver several times. This is our 4 or 5th stay in Townsend, our first at the River Mist home, we prefer this area because it isn't as busy as either Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge, yet close and easy access to do a day visit to either place. It is also close to Cades Cove which is one of our main reasons for visiting, we made two trips to Cades Cove while there this time. Our first day when just starting to ride through the loop it came a really heavy rain, so we went back for a second day in order to enjoy the beautiful views of the landscape. River Mist isn't what one would call remote as it sits right next to Cowboy Tubing and at the edge of the property is where the tubers exit the river, but no one bothered us and it was quite entertaining at times to watch the tubers come down the river. Great place, convenient to all the tourist attractions but without all the traffic and noise of either Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge.

Owner's Response: Thank you Deb, Everything you said about the area. Is the whole reason we decided to locate here. Townsend is the best place to stay while doing all the tourist things. An extra is Townsend doesn't have all the traffic and noise of Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. Just all the natural Beauty. Hope you all can make it back soon.

Great vacation getaway!

  • 5 of 5

We like Townsend because it is not so crammed full of people; the traffic situation there is much better than nearby spots. River Mist is located within an easy drive of groceries, coffee shops, restaurants, and best of all, great hikes in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. We are already planning to book this property again.

Owner's Response: Thank you Jack so much for staying with us. We enjoyed having you and your family. All the reasons you come here for your vacations. Was all the same for as to vacation here. In turn my wife and I didn't want to go back home. So we just moved here. There's just no other place like Townsend. Even better staying right there on the Little River.. We can wait to see you all back soon. Thanks again, Randy

River Mist is right on the Little River. So you can go swimming, fishing, canoeing or kayaking any time you want. Bring your own bikes or rent them here in town. Bike/walking trail is a right up in front of the cabin. You can go the full distance of town on both sides of main road. It's almost 5 miles from one end of town to the other. Great way to enjoy the beautiful views of the mountains surrounding our wonderful town.
