This newer luxury condo is located just across the street from the cleanest and most beautiful beach in South Texas. When you return from the beach you can relax with drinks by the pool at Destination Coral Cove in one of the most beautiful tropical gardens on the island. Destination Coral Cove is a quiet setting yet conveniently located within walking distance to many restaurants and shops.

This Gem is a spacious two bedroom/two bath condominium will give you all the convenience to enjoy your time away from home. The first convenience is drive up to the door parking. Unloading your luggage is only a few steps from car to door. Beautifully decorated you will notice immediately the 10’ ceilings with crown molding. The spacious kitchen at Coral Cove has granite counter tops, stainless steel appliances with a side x side refrigerator, ceramic top range, auto dishwasher and microwave. The kitchen is fully equipped for all your needs. The living room offers two recliners, a large sofa and a 46” HD flat screen TV with DVD player. The dining area offers a beautiful glass top table with seating for four and a bar with additional seating for four.

The very large master bedroom offers a king size bed with a private bath, walk in closet and equipped with a large 42” HD flat screen TV. All TV service is Satellite Direct TV. The large guest room offers a queen size bed and a large closet. It also has a trundle/bunk bed that can sleep four children. The guest bath has a tub/shower combination. Also provided for your convenience is a full size washer and dryer and Wi-Fi throughout.

About Gerald Magee

Both Kathy and I are from Missouri. We had moved many times in our married life but all within the Midwest, working and raising our family. We both retired in 2007 after full career's and knew we wanted to move to a warm climate. The question was where. Over the next couple of years of traveling to several southern states we came to the conclusion that we wanted Texas to be our home. Neither of us had ever visited South Padre Island and our first thoughts were a lake home. We spent two different vacations touring Texas. As we traveled further south we finally ended up in the valley and stayed several nights on the island while traveling through the valley. By the time we had to go back to Missouri, we realized we had found the place we were looking. The beautiful sunrises and sunsets, the fishing, the easy going island life all was perfect for what we were looking.

Why Gerald Magee chose South Padre Island

We are the first and only owners of unit #1 Coral Cove now known as Destination Coral Cove. We looked at several properties but this was the first one that we were shown. Our realtor told us she was going to show her favorite one first. Almost every day that we looked we kept asking her to take us back to this one. It became the benchmark to compare all other listings. Nothing even came close. The 10' ceilings and 8' doorways seemed to make all others even though close to the same size, seem so much smaller. This builder has built several buildings on the island improving each one over the last. This was one of the last. It was our personal home for almost 5 years and we have enjoyed every minute.

What makes this condo unique

10' ceilings and 8' doorways make it seem very roomy. Only steps from the beach you can set outside at night and hear the gentle roar of the surf on the sand. Step out the front door and look to the west and enjoy the beautiful Laguna Madre Bay. It is walking distance to many restaurants, shopping and activities.

Great place with great owners...highly recommend!

The property is as advertised and very well appointed. What made it even better was that the owner was truly concerned that our stay was awesome! We had one little tiny issue with a cabinet hinge and he literally came over 15 minutes later to fix it. I highly recommend this property and in particular these owners.

We had great communication with Gerald before arriving at the condo. We had a personalized entry code and upon entering we were I mpressed. The pictures are good but don’t do the property justice. Gerald and Kathy have thought of everything to provide a wonderful stay. It’s a short walk to the beach but the backyard and pool are so inviting. The condo is within walking distance to restaurants and CVS. Would highly recommend Coral Cove.

Fantastic time in South Padre Island!!!

If you book this place, you won't be disappointed. We stayed for the month of March 2018 and LOVED every minute of it. So close to the beach, walking distance to many good restaurants....all with a laid back vibe. The free public transit bus is available if you wish to explore further.

The condo has all the amenities you will need.....all the appliances are clean, modern and in good working order. There was a good variety of cooking utensils, pots/pans and dishes/cutlery. We enjoy cooking so it was nice to have a very functional kitchen. The washer/dryer combo were excellent as well.

The king bed was very comfortable and well stocked with pillows. The shower was modern and had great pressure. The second bathroom was a nice convenience even with just the two of us.

The well maintained pool was the "icing on the cake".....truly loved our afternoons sipping margaritas while having a nice dip. The other three units in this quad complex are rarely being used by the owners so we really felt that we had this place to ourselves.

Gerald and Kathy were gracious hosts and were always happy to help us out when questions arose. We are looking forward to our stay next year!

Great Place, we will be back!

First of all this place is advertised, great condition, clean and just really nicely equipped. The owner Gerald Magee even checked with us if everything was in order and if we had any questions. Great location in the heart of the entertainment district where you can walk to many restaurants and bars and the beach access was just across the street. Plenty of room for 4 adults and 2 kids, we will be back!

General Info About South Padre Island, Texas

South Padre Island is part of the world’s longest barrier reef island and is located near the most southern portion of Texas. The island is connected to the mainland by the Queen Isabella Causeway, a 2.5-mile four-lane bridge with reported crossings of over 8 million per year. Plans are underway for a second access north of the current town limits and the extension of utilities to undeveloped parts of the island has already begun. The town of South Padre Island makes up only 5%-10% of the land that is available for development.

The community of South Padre Island is a township located in Cameron County with approximately 2,800 permanent year-round residents. However, many more Winter Texans or part-time residents claim South Padre Island as home for large portions of the year. It is also a popular destination for Mexican citizens, particularly those from Monterrey, Mexico.

South Padre Island is located at the same latitude as Miami, Florida. The Island enjoys a sub-topical environment with an average winter temperature of 65 degrees, an average summer temperature of 82 degrees and an average 253 days per year of sunshine.

The town's total area is about 1,200 acres on an island approximately 1/2 mile wide from beach to bay and 34 miles long. South Padre Island is bordered by the Gulf of Mexico on the east and by the Laguna Madre Bay on the west, one of only 5 hyper-saline bays in the world. The only saltier body of water in the U.S. is the Great Salt Lake. This unusual bay is home to diverse species of fish as well as sea turtles, dolphins, endangered brown pelicans and numerous other forms of marine and coastal wildlife.

Life on South Padre Island

South Padre Island is a small community. Our tropical weather and miles of beachfront make the island a tourist attraction and year-round delight for those of us who are fortunate enough to call South Padre Island our home. Here we put more miles on our bicycles than our cars, and the pace of life is decidedly slower than it is on the mainland. Island time means that you stop to marvel when the sun sets and forsake work for fishing or the beach every chance you get.

Among the locals, eccentric is the norm, and shorts are acceptable attire anywhere. The various tourist seasons cause the population to swell and shrink with families on summer vacation, Winter Texans escaping the chill of northern states, and spring breakers enjoying a holiday (despite what you hear, they really are nice kids).

South Padre Island has a council-manager form of government with a Board of Aldermen, consisting of a Mayor and five Aldermen. The City Manager is the chief executive officer of the town.

South Padre Island belongs to the Point Isabel Independent School District. Daily school bus service shuttles school age children across the bridge to Port Isabel's quality schools. Parks on the island include county parks Isla Blanca and Andy Bowie.

South Padre Island is an amazing destination for all kinds of water sports. We are considered the best location in the country for kite boarding. Windsurfers also come from all over the country to enjoy our breezy shallow bay. South Padre Island also offers vacationers a wide range of other activities: kayaking, parasailing, jet skiing, snorkeling/diving, horseback riding, bungee jumping, sun bathing, kite-flying, and sandcastle building just to name a few. We are fortunate and blessed to have it all.

With shallow sport fishing in the Laguna Madre Bay as well as great deep sea fishing in the Gulf of Mexico, there is a fishing expedition to fit every time frame and skill level. The area is famous for our bird watching and with our 'World Birding Center' is one of the best informational and interactive bird watching sites anywhere. The island is also home to “Sea Turtle, Inc.”, a sea turtle rescue, education and conservation center.

An excellent golf course is only 15 minutes away and we have some wonderful seafood dining, waterfront bars and live entertainment. Special activities occur throughout the year. During the summer, every Friday night is a celebration with fireworks over the bay. The island is host to several large fishing and water sport tournaments. Numerous festivals, such as “Bike Week” and “Sand Castle Days”, are annual events. The island boasts a large, beautiful convention center where concerts, craft shows, sporting events, and business conferences are held.

We are different from other south coastal areas in that our high tourist season is the summer as opposed to the winter. The highest tourist months are normally March (Spring Break), June, July and August, followed by the winter months when Winter Texans (our term for “Snow Birds’) populate the island in December, January and February.
