About this property

This is a traditional Irish cottage, originally built in late 1800's. The property belonged to the owner's grandparents who bought it in the early 1900's. The cottage was completely renovated in 2006 with all modern conveniences.
It has two bedrooms, one double and one with twin single beds. There is a travel cot also. It has a Kitchen and dining/living room with wood burning stove. It has a bathroom with electric shower over the bath. It has a washing machine, cooker, fridge, microwave oven and is fully equipped. It has central heating & electricity included in the price.
Outside, there is private parking and a garden with patio furniture.
It is ideally located for touring the South-West of Ireland; Cork, Kerry and Limerick. It is in a very peaceful location in the countryside, 30 km from Mallow, on a working beef farm.

Beautiful cottage

We rented the cottage in July to explore the South West of Ireland.its location is extremely convenient as we were within an hour or so from most of the best sights such as Dingle, Kindle,Killarney and Gougane Barre. We had a great stay!

Relaxing & Comfortable

Very quiet & Comfortable cottage. Enjoyed watching the swallows. Has everything you could need in a quiet countryside setting. Within easy drivable distance of rings of Kerry & Dingle, and Killarney with its National Park. Would recommend Muckross.

Country property with good sized rooms. Very rural. Car necessary.

In need of running repairs here and there.( Kitchen tap) Kitchen could be a little better equipped.(Toaster very poor, as was ironing board~) We were unable to get good reception for the TV one day when the weather was wet. Lack of WiFi made life a bit difficult as we had an ill relative at home.

spacious cottage away from tourist crowds

a spacious living room with lovely big sofa and armchair, a good fireplace and a radio that works. Exellent for tall foreigners like us (as long as you avoid the double bed). However you do have to drive around for a bit to get to all the tourist places. Killarney is near, and Cork 45 minutes. Peace & quiet guaranteed.

I am a farmer. This cottage belonged to my mother's family and I bought it in 1993. In 2006, I renovated it completely and it has been a holiday letting since then. I enjoy welcoming guests from all over the world.

Why they chose this property

This cottage belonged to my family for at least 100 years. Three generations of my family have owned this cottage and the farm. My grandfather bought this cottage in the early 1900's and 3 generations of my family have farmed on the land here. I then acquired the farm and renovated the cottage in 2006. It previously had a thatched cottage. It is typical of many of the local cottages that were built in this area at this time.

What makes this property unique

Location is the best feature. It is ideal for a quite retreat or for touring the South West of Ireland. Set just 1km off the N72 and about half-way between Mallow and Killarney.
It is set in a country location, in a farming community with views of the surrounding countryside and mountains. ( Clara mountains)
