Why Michael O Donoghue chose Ireland

This cottage belonged to my family for at least 100 years. Three generations of my family have owned this cottage. My grandfather bought this cottage in the early 1900's and 3 generations of my family have farmed on the land here. The cottage was completely renovated in 2006. It was previously a thatched cottage.

Location is the best feature. It is ideal for touring the South West of Ireland. Set just 1km off the N72 about half-way between Mallow and Killarney.

The perfect hide-a-way for our honeymoon!

  • 4 of 5

This cottage was the perfect Hide-a-way for our honeymoon. We thoroughly enjoyed comeing back, after touring around each day, to the cozy fireplace. Having our own kitchen made it easy to store and cook food which we savored by the fire with a bottle of wine. It was the peaceful, relaxing vacation we imagined.

Best deal in Ireland

  • 4 of 5

This was a great property for the money. Everything we needed was provided. We were there for 11 days so we had to do laundry and it was nice to have our own washer. The place was clean and well stocked with any kitchen items that were needed. We did a lot of research before we booked this place and for the money it is the best deal going in Ireland. You won't go wrong by booking this place. Michael is so helpful and always available if you need him.

Country property with good sized rooms. Very rural. Car necessary.

  • 3 of 5

In need of running repairs here and there.( Kitchen tap) Kitchen could be a little better equipped.(Toaster very poor, as was ironing board~)

We were unable to get good reception for the TV one day when the weather was wet. Lack of WiFi made life a bit difficult as we had an ill relative at home.

spacious cottage away from tourist crowds

  • 3 of 5

a spacious living room with lovely big sofa and armchair, a good fireplace and a radio that works. Exellent for tall foreigners like us (as long as you avoid the double bed). However you do have to drive around for a bit to get to all the tourist places. Killarney is near, and Cork 45 minutes. Peace & quiet guaranteed.

Nice, quiet and homely cottage

  • 4 of 5

We had a lovely time staying in Dernagree. The cottage is cozy, with a fireplace and more than enough space for us. Everything you need is there. Waking up by the birds singing in the trees and dog Harry waiting on the doorstep: total rest indeed!
