This is a traditional Irish cottage, originally built in late 1800's. The property belonged to the owner's grandparents who bought it in the early 1900's. The cottage was completely renovated in 2006 with all modern conveniences.
It has two bedrooms, one double and one with twin single beds. There is a travel cot also. It has a Kitchen and dining/living room with open fireplace. It has a bathroom with electric shower. It has a washing machine, cooker, fridge, microwave oven and is fully equipped. It has central heating & electricity included in the price.
Outside, there is private parking and a garden with patio furniture.
It is ideally located for touring the South-West of Ireland; Cork, Kerry and Limerick. It is in a very peaceful location in the countryside, 25 km from Mallow, on a beef farm.
I am a beef farmer. This cottage belonged to my mother's family and I bought it in 1993. In 2006, I renovated it completely and it has been a holiday letting since then. I enjoy welcoming guests from all over the world.
Michael O Donoghue purchased this cottage in 2006
This cottage belonged to my family for at least 100 years. Three generations of my family have owned this cottage. My grandfather bought this cottage in the early 1900's and 3 generations of my family have farmed on the land here. The cottage was completely renovated in 2006. It was previously a thatched cottage.
Location is the best feature. It is ideal for touring the South West of Ireland. Set just 1km off the N72 about half-way between Mallow and Killarney.
It is set in a country location, in a farming community which it is very peaceful.
This was a great property for the money. Everything we needed was provided. We were there for 11 days so we had to do laundry and it was nice to have our own washer. The place was clean and well stocked with any kitchen items that were needed. We did a lot of research before we booked this place and for the money it is the best deal going in Ireland. You won't go wrong by booking this place. Michael is so helpful and always available if you need him.
In need of running repairs here and there.( Kitchen tap) Kitchen could be a little better equipped.(Toaster very poor, as was ironing board~)
We were unable to get good reception for the TV one day when the weather was wet. Lack of WiFi made life a bit difficult as we had an ill relative at home.
a spacious living room with lovely big sofa and armchair, a good fireplace and a radio that works. Exellent for tall foreigners like us (as long as you avoid the double bed). However you do have to drive around for a bit to get to all the tourist places. Killarney is near, and Cork 45 minutes. Peace & quiet guaranteed.
We had a lovely time staying in Dernagree. The cottage is cozy, with a fireplace and more than enough space for us. Everything you need is there. Waking up by the birds singing in the trees and dog Harry waiting on the doorstep: total rest indeed!
We loved this rural Irish cottage. It's a few minutes from the farm where my grandmother was born, and allowed us to really experience the feel of this beautiful area while tracing my roots - something you can't get when staying in a hotel. We were immersed in the culture, and the owner couldn't have been kinder. Clean, cozy and comfortable. Memorable!
It was a short stay, but we enjoeyed it very much.
Beautiful landscape, friendly people and all the other things you can get on a good holiday.
Perhaps we will come back another time, sure we will tell our friends and relatives about this place.
Ideal base for touring Kerry, Cork, Limerick and even Clare. Recommended are the beautiful Lakes of Killarney, the Gap of Dunloe, the Ring of Kerry, Dingle, the beautiful West Cork, Mizen Head, Kinsale, Cork City, Limerick city, and even the Cliffs of Moher in County Clare.
