NEW for this season - Family Photo Shoots and Photography Workshops available! Throughout this luxurious accommodation you'll find wow factors galore!! The stunning 31ft living/dining room has 3 sets of French doors leading out onto a sun-drenched south-facing balcony with spectacular views over the water. The kitchen and 5 of the 6 bedrooms all have the same view looking over nearly 2 acres of orchard and gardens which continue right down to the estuary with direct access to the water.

All 6 bedrooms are beautifully furnished and there are 2 family bathrooms, 2 bedrooms with ensuite showers and basins, 2 bedrooms with basins and 4 separate toilets. One of the bathrooms has a whirlpool bath installed and after a hard day holidaying there's nothing better than a mass of bubbles in the bath with a glass of bubbly in hand! Our 28'x15' (8.5m x 4.5m) pool heated to 27ºC (depending on ambient temperature) has the latest automatic dosing equipment that continuously monitors water quality to give you a sparkling clean pool.

House Layout: Ground floor - The Library is a delightful room with french doors opening out onto the huge deck. There are hundreds of books to choose from and we're happy for you to swap your holiday reading for any of them (a handful are marked not to be removed). There's also a TV in here with DVD and Video player with lots of children's videos plus a cupboard full of board games. Utility Room - houses the central heating boiler, washing machine, iron, ironing board and clothes airer. There's also a large sink and a toilet. Garage: Contains 2 bicycles and all the garden maintenance tools (chained up for safety). 1st floor - Open-plan sitting-room, dining-room and kitchen. Family bathroom and separate toilet. 2nd floor - 4 bedrooms, 3 doubles (2 with handbasins) and 1 small twin (one bed pulls out from under the other), family bathroom and separate toilet. 3rd floor (loft) - 2 very large bedrooms, a double with child's bed and 2 cots, and 1 spacious twin, both with ensuite showers and handbasins. Separate toilet on landing just for these two rooms.

The secure garden is accessed via either the driveway, the library or the 1st floor balcony. The huge deck 11m x 4m is adjacent to the built in BBQ and is perfect for al-fresco dining. The pool is a uniform 1.4m in depth, great for teaching little ones to swim, and our aim is to keep it heated to 27ºC from Easter to October. However this is very dependent on ambient temperatures, so may well be more or less than this. We have recently installed a security fence to fully enclose the pool, complete with a childproof safety gate.

Bird-watching and Golf: The living area on the first floor affords the most superb view of the estuary; directly in front of the house is a bend in the river where flocks of sea birds congregate to feed at low tide. There is a high powered telescope together with an in-depth guidebook to facilitate your (new) hobby. Birds we've seen to date include herons, spoonbills, egrets, shelducks, curlews and dozens of others we haven't identified yet!

Brittany is overloaded with golf courses, all beautifully maintained by the French but very much under-used. One of the closest courses is the Brest Iroise course at Landernau. It's 6296 yards and Par 71, set in the heart of wild moors offering unforgettable views of Brest Harbour. It's one of the most challenging in Brittany and ranked 13th in all of France. There's also a 9-hole course where beginners can warm up first...........!

Eating out in Le Faou: There are 6 restaurants in Le Faou, 3 of which have covered verandas for al fresco dining. Our favourite is Brasserie les Halles, a quirky little restaurant serving traditional French fare with the obligatory 'plat du jour' of superb value. Every dish is beautifully cooked and the service is excellent, their pizzas are fabulous too, also available to take away (a emporter).

Don't leave without sampling at least one of the 3 creperies which serve a bewildering selecton of fillings for their 'pancakes'.

Worth a trip to enjoy a gourmet seafood feast on the other side of the estuary is 'Les Viviers de Terenez', 10 minutes drive away. They will also sell you live crustaceans if you prefer to prepare them yourself. This is also the location for kayak hire.

New Year 07 - We all had a brilliant time in Estuary House, facilties were excellent and the views fantastic, brilliant for birdwatching, every detail well thought of. Had an excellent 10 course meal New Year's Eve in the local Hotel. N&H, Devon

March 07 - What a brilliant place to chill. The rooms are gorgeous and the house is really welcoming. When we were able to tear ourselves away from the balcony and views over the estuary, there are some great places to visit. T&M, B'gham.

April 07 - We have had the most amazing weather this week so enjoyed the garden, estuary, local beaches and walks. What a perfect home for a family holiday! We have all fallen in love with the house-so much space, even with 11 of us. S&P, Norfolk.

July 07 - From the swimming pool there has been laughter and joy 3 or 4 times a day. We're glad we chose this house to celebrate our parent's 70th birthday. A&E Sweden

  • All of the bedrooms are very bright and sunny, furnished in an attractive contemporary style and they all benefit from new beds, mattresses, pillows, duvets and bedding. They also have new bedside tables, reading lamps, bedspreads and rugs. We have provided 2 pillows per person with ample spares if required, and all of the bedlinen is cotton, duvets are all duck/goose feather. 5 of the 6 bedrooms overlook the south facing garden with spectacular views of the estuary and the one that doesn't, has a picture of the view! There is also a hairdryer in each bedroom, and 3 hot-water bottles, just in case...... For babies and toddlers we have 2 new travel cots, cot mattresses, 2 booster seats which attach securely to dining room chairs, and a highchair. These items must be arranged in advance. 5 of the 6 bedrooms have either shutters or blackout blinds. The beds are all made up for your arrival and for each person a bath sheet and hand towel will be left on the beds.

The spacious kitchen is extremely well-equipped with plenty of crockery, glassware, saucepans and cutlery including plastic sets for young children. The oven is a SMEG range style with a 5-burner gas hob and electric grill. The layout of the kitchen and dining area is such that your designated chef of the day can chat to other guests while creating so won't feel left out! Although there are lots of stairs, the house is suitable for the elderly or infirm as once you're on the first floor you have the sitting-room, dining-room, kitchen, bathroom and a toilet on this level so you only need to use the stairs when going to bed or leaving the house. We have prepared four huge guide books for you listing over 70 Places To Go and Things To Do. Each page has photos and directions to get there, all maps are included so there will be no shortage of activities if you want to get out and about and explore Brittany, or just chill out to the rhythm of the tide, on the deck or balcony ....

The house with everything

What a fantastic house, it really does have everything. The house itself is huge and very well equipped. We had 3 different families staying and we never felt under eachothers feet. The ever changing views of the garden and estuary from almost every window are outstanding. But if we were impressed with the house then the garden was even better. It too is huge but from the vantage point of the balcony we were able to keep a close eye on all the children all the way to the bottom of the garden. The pool was probably the highlight of the holiday for the children and was easily big enough to accommodate us all at the same time.

I cannot recommend estuary house high enough for a holiday whether it be as a base for exploring the lovely surrounding countryside or somewhere to relax and enjoy everything it has to offer

A fabulous, well-equipped house

This is a really fabulous house for a large group. As well as the amazing setting and locality, the house itself is fantastically well equipped for a comfortable stay. Touches such as swimming towels provided, hooks in bedrooms and a full range of cooking utensils make it a real delight to stay in. The owners also provide four folders (arranged geographically) of places to visit and things to do with directions, distances and time to get there by car which made taking days out straightforward and easy to plan for all tastes and age groups. The pool and garden are gorgeous (the children in our party were in the warm pool every day) and safe for even the smallest child. All in all I cannot fault this holiday house, it was a joy to stay there and we hope to visit again one day.

A great place to stay for families and groups

the property is well maintained, spacious and full of character. The local area simply teems with things to do and see and dawn light on the estuary at the bottom of the garden is a wonder of nature. Add to that the safe swimming pool and enclosed garden for kids; as well as splendid walks on the Crozon peninsula; together with the proximity of la Faou with a great Super U hypermarket; the welcome at the Donegal Bar; and the quality of food as well as the joy of dining at Les Halles restaurant; a simple one hour drive from the ferry at Roscoff;, and you have the makings of a fine holiday.

Highly recommended!

These guests' only improvement on the house was a second soup ladle (on the shopping list) and a courtesy bus to the local Donegal bar - it's only a mile away so I think the walk back greatly improves brain function the following morning!

September biking holiday at Ectuary House

I've just returned from a fantastic week staying at Estuary House. A superb location and plenty of room for our group of family & friends ( 10 people ).Very easy access to the local shops, restaurants and super markets. Everything was as advertised and the pool was a big hit! Lots of effort has been made with information and arrival details. Easy parking for several motorcycles and a boiler room for drying gear. Well appointed family house

Large well planned house in rural coastal setting

We were a four generation family group and this property was ideal for us. The ground floor opens to the staging and BBQ zone and then to the enclosed pool in the garden, ideal for the youngest (20 months). The first floor, open planned, incorporates kitchen dining and lounge areas and a full length veranda overlooking pool and gardens. The next two floors have the bedrooms and facilities. The top two bedrooms being our favourites. The situation and views are superb, the garden leads down to the estuary (another safety fence midway to contain the young ones) where you can collect oysters if so inclined. La Faou is a mile down the road and in the other direction is another access to the estuary and a very neat and tidy children's playground. The property was clean and tidy, ample equipment for all styles of cuisine. Excellent services provided (free calls home on the phone) and so many UK friendly extension sockets. We have to admit there were days we did not want to go out, just stay around the pool and soak up the sun. I would recommend this to any other family groups. And the cost of living - it didn't compare to home - and the food is so fresh too, many big stores around within 20 minutes drive. With care you can park four cars in the driveway too.

If we return to this area, and we'd be silly not to, then this property is on my return list. Thanks you so much for letting it to us Kathy, your website description is spot on, after all, that was all I had to base my choice on. The rest of the family all agree, what a wonderful place for a stay.

Estuary House is situated 1 mile from the pretty medieval village of Le Faou which has several restaurants (2 of them with covered decks for delightfully relaxed 'al fresco' dining), several bars, patisseries, butchers, delicatessens, pharmacy, supermarket, plus every other amenity that you could possibly want! Not forgetting the all-important 'cave' for the discerning wine buffs amongst you! There's also a large supermarket within a 5-minute drive and a hypermarket within 10 minutes.

Le Faou is situated within the beautiful Armorique nature reserve and is a superb base for exploring the Crozon peninsula with it's beautiful long sandy beaches, dramatic coastline, fascinating little fishing ports and breathtaking scenery. Days out must also include sampling the incredibly extensive selection of local seafood on offer, but if you don't want to travel too far you can even collect oysters at the high-tide line along the shore at the bottom of the garden instead!

Other Activities: birdwatching, walking, swimming, surfing.....

Golf: In a natural setting, just a few miles away from the Monts d'Arrée and the Brest Roadstead, come and discover the Brest Iroise championship golf course. Designed by the excellent Michael Fenn, its varied layout and its high quality fairways and greens make it one of the region's most challenging and enjoyable courses. Following the pure tradition of the best Scottish golf courses, it is both wild and natural.

The Brest Iroise golf course is nestled in a 600 acres park. It is easy to reach, being only 9.5 miles from Estuary House.

The golf course of Brest Iroise is part of the Golfy network. The new club house, inaugurated in Nov 2010 is ready to warmly welcome you.

To take advantage of cheaper ferry crossings, changeover day is on Tuesdays but out of season we're very happy to change this to whichever day is better for you. Rental rates include water, electricity, heating and gas, also bedlinen and towels including pool/beach towels, so no extra charges anywhere.

To secure your booking we will require a non-refundable deposit of 25% of the total, payable in sterling or euros and then the balance 6 weeks before your holiday, together with a refundable security deposit of £300. Look forward to hearing from you! Kathy and Glen.
