|Minimum Stay||31 nights|
A cozy, quiet, comfortable cabin in the middle of wildlife habitat; in front of the Teton Mountains. Elk, Pronghorn, Bison, and even bears and wolves, may be seen
around the cabin at different times of year.
A newly remodeled (2014) fully furnished cabin with 2 bedrooms. Brand new appliances: washer/dryer, fridge, stove, dishwasher. Internet and WiFi and TV via satellite. Electric heat with a wood burning stove. It's not exactly LEED certified, but is energy efficient with all LED lights and ample insulation.
The cabin is rented by the month during winter. In winter it is only for the adventurous; you need to walk/ski/snowmobile about 400 yards to a plowed road which is 15 minutes from town. Incredible views. Close to Moose, Jackson, and the Jackson airport.
A lifelong conservation biologist. I was born in Jackson and have lived in and around here most of my life. I'm hoping to retire one of these days (I'm 68) and we're hoping that renting this cabin will help make that happen. We live in Bozeman, Montana, currently and have a property manager to help guests settle in and deal with any problems.
I love travelling and would like to provide an opportunity for others to live within easy reach of Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks for a while.
Owner/Property Manager purchased this cabin in 1945
My father and uncle bought 14 acres here right after World War II. Not long afterwards Grand Teton National Park was established and as the Park expanded it eventually surrounded the property.
Like having a wonderful hotel suite all alone in front of the mountains. The Tetons are truly awesome at any time of day or night and the view is constantly changing with the light and the weather.
Our stay at the Craighead Cabin was a delightful, relaxing experience that created new and special memories. The cabin is very thoughtfully set up. My 94 year old mother and my brother and his wife spent a week at the cabin. My sister and her husband joined us for three of those nights. Mom loves the Tetons and she loved soaking up the magnificent view. She did two watercolors while we were there. While unpacking our car on arrival a fox stayed nearby and watched the whole process. The next evening our host's brother told us a grizzly had visited a cabin just south of us and warned us to stay alert. We had antelope frolicking all around the cabin and on Thursday a good sized herd of bison wondered across the Antelope Flats right behind the cabin. Inside the park we had numerous moose and elk sightings so this was a great wildlife visit. The cabin is conveniently located to spectacular views, various wildlife observing opportunities and provides a great setting for family time. We took advantage of games and puzzles provided at the cabin. We appreciate our host creating an opportunity for us to create special new family memories and engage in fun and fellowship together. The cabin is very comfortable for four adults and to our surprise accommodated the six of us for three nights with ease. Amenities provided met all of our needs and allowed us to get to business of enjoying the magnificent offerings of the Tetons. Thank you for sharing your cabin.
We loved the location and the layout of the cabin. Clean and well-stocked. Views were beautiful from every window and porch, so convenient for our visit to Grand Teton NP. Wildlife viewing was great - saw bison and a fox. Appliances are new and functional. Internet was fine for email and some web browsing. We were a family of 4 plus Grandma and it was perfect for us.
My wife and I spent 10 days at the Craighead cabin in mid July. This was our first trip to this part of our great country. The Craighead cabin exceeded our expectations in every way. Simple, clean, and nicely remodeled. Location was perfect.
We checked in to see what we might need from the store and found everything was already provided (except an iron). Wildlife was everywhere. The bison were as close as the porch steps. Pronghorn always within view with binoculars and even came to within 30 yards of the cabin. Doran proved to be a great place for dine in or carry out meals throughout our stay. The cabins location made for a super base camp to all GTNP, Jackson Lake, and 1 hour from Yellowstone's south entrance. Craighead Cabin will never disappoint! Cool in the days and comfortable at night. A full moon lit up the Tetons at night and what way to fall asleep. We hope to return to share this extraordinary place with our loved ones.

My husband and I stayed at the cabin for a week in June/July of 2016. The cabin was impeccably clean and was well stocked with everything we needed. We loved that it was centrally located to all the places on our agenda, from hiking in the park to visiting Jackson Hole and Teton Village. It's also close to Yellowstone so we made that a day trip as well. Although we enjoyed all the hikes, our favorite hike was Cascade Canyon. We took the boat across Jenny Lake and hiked up past inspiration point to just past the fork. It's a long hike, but totally worth it. There is also a hike near the cabin that we did that isn't as advertised called Blacktail Butte, near Moose Junction. Great views at the summit. We loved sitting out on the porch after a long day to relax and admire the gorgeous view of the Grand Tetons. Lance, the owner, and Les, the property manager, were both wonderful to work with and were always reachable if needed. Although we didn't see much wildlife at the cabin, we saw a friendly fox several nights when we drove up the driveway. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend this cabin.
Staying in this little gem of a "home on the range" with the perfect view and the wonderful privacy was magical. It is a wonder that the owners are willing to share it! Everything we could have wanted was there. The beds were very comfortable. The bison were hiding because the weather was too hot for them, but no matter - watching the mountain bluebirds come and go was entertaining enough!
In one word, our stay was excellent. The cabin was clean, and clearly maintained with love. It has everything you'd need for a short stay, or an extended visit. The view from the cabin is incredible, and the wildlife in the area was a real treat. We were visited by numerous elk, bison, and a very friendly fox.
There's no light pollution at night, which allows for unparalleled star gazing. Location wise, it's right across the street from the park entrance, which made it easy to get up early and roll out for a day of hiking and exploring in the Tetons.
You're also very close to Yellowstone from the South entrance. We took the long way around to the West entrance, since the South road was still closed, but you'd be crazy not to drive to Yellowstone if you're staying in this cabin. It's so close, and there's so much to see!
If you have bikes, either mountain or road, bring them. There's miles of paved trails down to Jackson, and through the national park. We didn't think to bring ours, and we were really wishing we had them all week. Restaurant wise, head down to Jackson and hit up Hatch for tacos, The Rose for fine dining, Gather for meat and cheese and just a good meal all around. Persephone Cafe is the place to go for coffee and pastries.
Overall, we had a great time, and we'd definitely love to come back in the future!
The cabin is located at 13040 Craighead Lane in the middle of a National Park (Grand Teton) with lots of wildlife and incredible views. During winter the lane is closed by snow; you need to park in a space along Antelope Flats Road and ski/walk/snowshoe about 1/4 mile to the cabin. We provide sleds for hauling your luggage but the rest is up to you. The cabin has unobstructed views in all directions with the Teton Range directly to the west; the view is constantly changing from the alpenglow at sunrise, to deep shadows in the afternoon, to sunset; thunderstorms and moonlight. You can spend days just watching the weather go by; or travel around the valley and the parks looking for wildlife. Sometimes the wildlife come to you at the front door.
We have a propane grill outside. All the major appliances are brand new (2014) including a washer/dryer, fridge, electric stove, microwave and dishwasher. There's also a coffee maker, coffee grinder, blender, toaster and crock pot.
There is satellite TV with the basic channels and a DVD player. Satellite internet with a local WiFi. No land line phone but cell coverage is adequate.
The cabin sleeps 4 comfortably; a bedroom with a queen size bed, and a second bedroom with two twin beds. There is a leather couch that folds out for additional space (good for sleeping bags).

Arrivals should plan to show up around 5PM or later. Departures should be before noon so that we have time to clean and change linen etc. before new guests arrive. Winter rental is $2000 per month but can be negotiated for several months rental. Rent includes utilities, satellite TV and internet. Firewood for the wood stove should be provided by the renter. Pets are discouraged as summer renters might have allergies and complete clean-up is difficult. Parking is available along Antelope Flats road, about 1/4 mile from the cabin; shared with neighbors.
