Much nicer than it looks in the pictures!

  • 5 of 5

I am a local from Honolulu and just loved the peace and quiet in this serene setting. Everything was beautiful--the room, the grounds, the spa. The lomilomi massage was wonderful. I love the location in Makawao, just a few minutes from the town. Highly recommended.

Just as we had hoped

  • 5 of 5

The Makena studio was everything we hoped for. Our family of four, boys 3 and 4, had an amazing time exploring upcountry form our mountain getaway. We loved how remote it felt yet still being easily accessible. The lawn was great for our boys to run around in. We would definitely stay again! Thank you for your hospitality!

Peaceful and comfy!

  • 5 of 5

Makena cottage is the perfect place for staying in upcountry Maui. We loved being away from the hustle and bustle and experiencing Maui from a local's point of view! A couple's perfect place for a relaxing getaway! Be sure to indulge in the spa amenities! They do a very good job! Professional, clean and pampering!

Wonderful for quiet, peace, seclusion, beauty, upcountry location

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely loved our stay here. Beautiful seclusion in the upcountry tropical foothills. Closer to the Road to Hana, Haleakala Park Entrance, Lavender Farm, etc. It does take a few extra minutes to drive up to the location from Makawao on a twisty narrow road, but we actually enjoyed the seclusion. We appreciated the fresh fruit and refrigerated juices, snack bars, and treats. Note that the office is closed after 5, but they do respond to the after hours phone number. Checking in and out is simple. Wonderful place. It was great to be away from the hustle and bustle of.....everything!

The true spirit of Aloha!

  • 5 of 5

We are so glad that we stayed here! This was my husbands first time in Maui and my 5th and we couldn't be happier with our accommodations. It was pretty windy and rainy most every night in the Upcountry but we were able to escape the rain and find sunshine and rainbows everyday. The staff at Ho'omana B&B were very helpful and kind, although we were so busy exploring Maui that we rarely saw anyone. This is a very serene and peaceful location with a gorgeous tropical garden. Although we didn't have time to schedule any of the spa services, I will plan to do that next time. We will for sure be returning to the Makena Cottage. We arrived late and it was dark so I could hardly wait for morning to see everything and I wasn't disappointed. Such a beautiful Upcountry setting! The cottage is well stocked with everything you will need to cook your own meals. Loved the bamboo floors, the decor and open floor plan. It's a studio which is perfect for 2 adults. The deck was lovely and has a great view of the garden and banana trees. Fresh fruit is grown right on the property. We didn't mind the occasional rooster crowing off in the distance....made us feel at home! There were plenty of towels, beach towels, beach chairs and even snorkeling gear! Makawao is now one of my favorite Maui towns away from the resorts. We love Maui and it's people. Mahalo, from Mt. Hood, Oregon.
