Our family moved to Guntersville in 2000. We fell in love with the people who were warm and welcoming.
Our children loved having the lake available for so many fun activities. Many days after school we would jump on our old pontoon boat and cook dinner on board. The favorite menu included chili dogs, chips and chocolate chip cookies.
Saturday or Sunday after church we may stop at the Piggly Wiggly and load up on fried chicken, mashed potatoes and green beans. Then we were off for a day of fishing, site seeing or skiing.
We have been blessed to be able to call Guntersville home.
Cheryl McCoy purchased this chateau / country house in 2014
I rented the Fish Camp for a get together with friends I hadn't seenin years. The price is extremely reasonable, and the location is very convenient. We were five minutes from a great grocery store and a minute walk from the river. the camp is right on a main road, so it's easy to find, but there are no nearby neighbors, so you don't have to worry about someone stopping by. The owner was wonderfully helpful and was available by cell for all my questions. I had never rented a house in this manner, and she made the process quite simple. My friends and I have a great time just hanging out, and the table was big enoguh to accomodate all of us. The covered outdoor patio and fireplace was the perfect area to hang out and roast marshmallows after dinner. The beds we *SUPER* comfortable. I would definitely rent this place again.
The owner was very helpful and answered all my questions efficiently. It was easy to check in and check out. FIsh Camp worked out for us as a family staying in town for a wedding at the Lumpkin House. The only regret we had was that we didn't have time to enjoy the lake or the area as we were so busy with the wedding. I wish we would have had more bathrooms, and the layout of a couple of the bedrooms was a little awkward, but we made it work. Fish Camp is nothing fancy, but it works as a comfortable place for large groups or families wishing to be together.
We had a grand time for my 66st birthday. This is the second time me and my husband stayed here. This year my oldest daughter and her family came and my niece and her family came. Grands and great grands. Their is so much peace in this house and very spacious. Clean, plenty of bedding. Love the patio in the back. Lights at night made the setting wonderful. Close to the water. We love to fish. Cheryl, the owner, always provides us with everything we need. Thank you Cheryl for everything.
very nice place everything you need is provided comfortable beds the only thing that i would suggest without central air to have ac units in all bedrooms overall though great trip
Nothing fancy but adequate. The beds were very comfortable. You can tell that the house has been reconfigured over the years as there are some odd room arrangements. Steps to back patio from the back bedroom could be a falling hazard as the stairwell protrudes into the room and I almost went down them the first night. The window AC units were off when we arrived and it was very hot inside. Fortunately they did cool the house down by bedtime with all of the doors between rooms open.
On a busy highway and the trucks to the cat food factory across the street start moving about very early in the morning.
The water heater was leaking although it did not effect us. Washer/Dryer were great assets. Easy to get to.
