A perfect oasis in the heart of Paris

  • 5 of 5

We've just returned from an amazing stay in Paris at this perfect flat. Covering the entire top floor of the building, it had plenty of room for our family to spread out and relax after a long day touring the city. The furnishings and décor were so unique and enhanced our visit to this historic city. The bedrooms were spacious and well appointed. The mattress are firm futon-style and worked well for us. The master bedroom does not have a door, but it's distance from the rest of the house, separated by multiple halls and rooms, affords sufficient privacy. The elevator worked well and was always available. It fits two people well, but not more. I used it every time, but my son and husband preferred the stairs which are very manageable. The kitchen was fabulous with a large, western-style refrigerator and all the appliances and dishes you could possibly want. It was so handy to have the washer and dryer so we didn't have to pack as many clothes, but the controls are in French and german so be sure you have a translator handy! I can't tell you how wonderful it was to take a bath in the huge bath tub each evening! But the best part of this flat are the 14/15 sets of French doors opening onto small terraces graced with luscious plants. An amazing view to wake up to each day!

The area is great, on the edge of the Latin Quarter. There are hundreds of cafes and restaurants within walking distance along with bakeries, chocolate chops, patisseries, and other shops. The Bon Marche a couple of blocks north has literally anything you could need for cooking or other shopping needs. The public transportation system is fabulous and the metro stop a block away (Saint Placide) as well as the bus stops in every direction make navigating the city quite simple. I recommend you download the RATP app which will help you get wherever you're going.

You couldn't hope for a better home away from home in the City of Lights. At a fraction of the cost of a hotel room, with exponentially more amenities, you'll be blessed beyond measure as we were!

Beautiful, cozy large apartment

  • 5 of 5

Couldn't have been happier with the location and the decor of this apartment. It covers the whole top floor of a wonderful building with quiet courtyard views. Great kitchen with everything anyone could need. The photos are accurate but can't convey the ambiance of this lovely home away from home. Staying in this apartment will be a wonderful memory of Paris.

Excellent apartment and location

  • 5 of 5

Having stayed in Paris 2 years ago, we were sure we wanted to stay near the Luxembourg Gardens if and when we ever returned. It is near the center of all the activities we wanted to visit and see.

We couldn't have found a better place to stay than this penthouse. Clean, comfortable and attractively appointed. The owner was very warm and helpful and the house was supplied with all that was needed for a very enjoyable and relaxing vacation stop. We definitely will consider returning here in the future and have already alerted our friends to this little gem.

A more than 5 star apartment

  • 5 of 5

I reviewed this property last year with the same title and re-booked for a week in April this year. We were five adults and one baby (four months old) -- the availability of a baby bed and bath and high chair (which our baby was not big enough for yet) is a wonderful plus to this magnificent apartment. But the best thing about it besides the location, the furnishings, and the neighborhood, is the wonderful owner who is very helpful, thoughtful, responsive, warm and friendly. Gilbert has made both our visits to his apartment a total success. We are so happy he is willing to share his beautiful surroundings with us. I could go on at length about the location, the furnishings and the whole ambience of the apartment, but many other reviews have done so. Just read them. Thank you, Gilbert, for another wonderful week in Paris -- as our grandson said, if it rains in Paris, it is a pleasure to stay home in this beautiful place.

what a find!

  • 5 of 5

So here's the deal: I picked this apartment because it's owned by an individual, not a big rental company. The photos on the website are not professionally staged, you won't see fresh cut flowers and stage lighting to dress things up. Don't let that turn you off-- this apartment is OUTSTANDING. It is a 6th floor loft, there is an elevator to the apartment entrance, then it's one flight up. The apartment is a wrap around top floor apartment, it surrounds the courtyard almost in its entirety. There is not an ounce of Ikea in the apartment-- the furniture is just terrific, nicer than my own home. there are really 3 separate seating areas spread throughout the layout. We really appreciated the small things, like the stack of umbrellas we ended up using. Being on a courtyard you won't hear a peep of noise beyond the occasional bird. I stayed for 8 days and the apartment had a mid week cleaning at no cost to us, who has ever heard of such a thing in a vacation rental? Not me. The location is great, so close to metro stops on 2 lines that serve totally different parts of Paris (so convenient) and a little bit farther away are more lines. Louvre is I would say 1 mile away. Only one train change to get to the airport, the train to the airport was so much more comfortable and reliable than a taxi, but there are taxis everywhere in the neighborhood if that's how you prefer to travel. Close to great bakeries cheese shops fruit markets, then again where in Paris isn't close to such things? I guess no place is perfect, just don't be expecting a big elevator. If you have more than 3 in your group, it's multiple trips up the elevator, or a few folks can take the steps, which I did many times and I am better off for having the exercise. Absolutely great apartment I've rented many apartments in Europe and this one stands up to the best. It paid off renting from an individual rather than a company.

Very spacious felt like home...

  • 5 of 5

We found this apartment very well appointed. The kitchen was well stocked for those who like to cook. It felt to my wife and I like a home in Paris. We enjoyed the large amount of living and relaxing space that this apartment has. Very convenient to using public transportation and just down the street from the Bon Marche market. Lots of shopping and places to eat within walking distance. The best part was how the owner responded when we had a brief plumbing problem. He did everything he could to try to resolve the problem for us and this was much appreciated.
