About the property

House, 5 Bedrooms, 3.5 Baths, (Sleeps 12)

Enjoy a beautiful spacious 5 bedroom 3.5 bath home in a quiet wooded setting overlooking the Magothy River. The home includes two master suites: one on the main floor and one on the second floor. The second floor master suite has a jacuzzi tub and opens onto a second floor deck. Three other large bedrooms are on the second floor with one also opening to the second floor deck. Classic hardwood floors lead to carpeted bedrooms. A stone fireplace graces the living room and dining room which span the whole waterfront side of the house. French doors off the living room and dining room open out to a large screened in porch that is another room onto itself with indoor/outdoor carpeting, ceiling fans, a picnic table and outdoor furniture. With the porch doors open, the breeze off the river can be felt throughout the house. However, there is air conditioning for really hot days. Tastefully decorated with warm bright colors, overstuffed furniture, a dining room table that seats 10, an eat-in kitchen, comfortable rooms and an exceptional layout make this home particularly inviting. There are water views from virtually every room.

We enjoy many returning guests. The house has become a home away from home for those who visit the area frequently.

Enjoy swimming, boating, sailing, kayaking, crabbing, fishing or just enjoying the views. With Annapolis, Baltimore and Washington D.C. all close by, there is so much to see and do.

Just what our family needed, a quite and peaceful waterfront retreat

  • 4 of 5

The rental met all of our needs, spleeping for 10, the king master upstairs was so comfortable, we didn't want to get out of bed lol.

3 1/2 baths, helped with everyone needing to get ready before heading out

My favorite was the screened in porch and pier, I used it every morning with my cup joe.

The only thing I would recomend is perhaps a ceiling fan in the dining with better lighting,

I would strongly recomend this wonderful house, peaceful area, safe for walking/jogging, close to Baltimore, catch a train to DC or a short drive to the coast.

Shelly and Read are near if you ever need anything, (right next door)

Great place to stow extra family

  • 5 of 5

Shelly made it so easy for me. Family in town from all over the country for a wedding and my house wasn't big enough. This place is beautiful, nice view, plenty of space to spread out.

One off-putting thing was that I had to send a check directly to them which I thought violated one of the primary tenets of using one of these sites, but my deposit was back almost before my last family member left was incredibly quick.

Backing out of the driveway can get tricky because it curves and we were afraid of hitting the trash cans, ended up on the rocks on the other side.

I did not personally stay but I only heard good things from my family. They were happy to be in the same place instead of separate hotel rooms, much easier to just sit up and chat. I will definitely use it again when my second son gets married if it is still available (there are no current plans).

Great house

  • 5 of 5

This was a perfect spot for our girls weekend getaway. The area is quiet and the house is clean and the kitchen is well stocked. We spent nearly all of our time on the porch, which was lovely. When we weren't at the house we enjoyed crabs at a local restaurant and strolled around Annapolis. Great weekend! Thanks Shelly!

Togetherness in comfort and beauty

  • 5 of 5

Our family met here to celebrate that I am now officially really old! The home offered everything we needed to enjoy spending time together comfortably. We spent many happy hours talking and sharing meals together on the lovely screened-in porch, enjoying songs of the varied birds who frequent the yard and trees. Some family members took advantage of the kayaks provided to explore the river. The living room was a pleasant place for family games too. Shelly was helpful in every aspect of our visit. I think she even insured that the weather was picture perfect!

Comfortable home on the water

  • 4 of 5

We stayed here for graduation weekend with family. Unfortunately, the weather was rainy, but the indoor fireplace made for a cozy environment. The kitchen, eating area and family room, (with large comfortable couches and chairs), were big enough for 8 -10 of us. The kitchen had sufficient cooking utensils, paper towels, toilet paper and kitchen cleaning supplies. I recommended she add some basic cooking condiments.

There is a nice large screened porch. The furniture on the porch could use some updating, but is functional. There is a large master bedroom and bath on the first level and 4 spacious bedrooms upstairs with a nice open deck. There are many trees along the water front so the view of the water from the house is limited. The beds were firm, but comfortable. The fire pit is great, with enough room to easily fit 6 -8 people facing the water.

There is a dock going out over the water. It is long and narrow about, 6 feet wide, but a nice view from the end of the dock. The house is situated back in a cove, but there was a nice breeze on the dock the one day we were out there. The water was murky the weekend of our stay, but could have been due to the weather.

Shelly lives nearby and was very responsive to any requests we had during our stay. This is a comfortable house with plenty of living space both inside and outside.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your comments, which help us become better hosts. The property is actually located on the Magothy River proper. We are on a wide part of the river, set off the boating channel, which provides privacy and a safe place to swim, kayak, and fish. The murky water is a result of the torrential rains we received over the weekend. The Magothy, and our area in particular, is home to come of the clearest and cleanest water on the Bay. Recreational Water Quality Reports can be viewed on the Anne Arundel County heath department website. They test recreational waters weekly during the summer months.

Warm and inviting family centered home with breathtaking views

  • 4 of 5

OMG!!!! My family and I have been vacationing for over 20 years, and this was probably the best time we’ve had. We went down to MD for a graduation and found this gem. Looking for a place with tranquility, serenity, and wholesome goodness....look no further! This house has it all: space, openness, character, waterfront views, seclusion etc. The house was pristinely immaculate. The kitchen has all the utensils and everything you need to call it your own. The bedrooms were very spacious with plenty of fresh linens and towels. This is a family friendly home that is clean, comfy and very much enjoyable. Michele and her husband were extremely gracious hosts and were very responsive and accommodating to our needs. We can’t wait to come back. Best time our family had in years!!!!!! Thanks for making this a great memory Michele. Congratulations on your ownership of this home as you made us feel that it was our own.
