About Debbie Cleveland

Clyde and I have been married for over 40 years and have four beautiful children and 7 wonderful grandchildren! We have been on the go for most of those 40 years and have lived in some wonderful places. Our son's family moved to Boca Raton a year ago and encouraged us to check out the area. We completely fell in love with Delray Beach and decided to purchase a vacation home here. Since we can't be here all the time we are sharing it with you :)

Debbie Cleveland purchased this house in 2014

Why Debbie Cleveland chose Palm Beach County

LOCATION! This property is so close to everything you want in Delray. One block south of historic Sundy House and two blocks to Atlantic Ave. and all the shops and restaurants! The house is fully equipped and tastefully furnished. And the 10 foot ceilings provide a spacious feeling. It has a wonderful secluded feel while staying close to the beach and downtown.

What makes this house unique

Tropical outdoor grounds including an outdoor shower and hammock! Wonderful decks and outdoor space to enjoy the beautiful south Florida weather. Two king size beds, one, in the master bedroom, is a Craftmatic adjustable with a message mode for great relaxation after a busy day of going to the beach! We love this property because of the easy two block walk to Atlantic Ave. and all the great restaurants and activities.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Susan and her family were wonderful to work with. I would highly recommend them to anyone hosting. She gave me some great ideas for improving our house and we are taking steps to implement her suggestions.

We had a great experience working with her.

My husband and I and our son and daughter-in-law have been renovating this property for the last two months. It is a quaint 1930's Craftsman style home on Swinton Ave. with a separate studio cottage in the back. The main house is 1400 square feet with two bedrooms, 1 and 1/2 baths, formal dining room, large eat-in kitchen, spacious living room, and cozy enclosed front porch. Both bedrooms have king size beds and the living room has a new hide-a-bed couch. The house has 10 foot ceilings, wood floors, and high end furnishings. Location location

  • 5 of 5

Just spent a wonderful month at Debbie"s house in Delray Beach. The location was perfect, a short walk to the wonderful restaurants and nightlife that Delray has to offer. The beach is beautiful and included in the rental is a beach pass which includes 2 chairs and umbrella. The house itself is has everything you could possibly need for a relaxing vacation, and has a real homey feel. Highly recommend this house for anyone who is looking for staying in a "downtown " location yet away from the downtown noise. Can"t wait to stay there again!!!

Lack of privacy

  • 2 of 5

The master bathroom has no door! That's not to everyone's taste. The property description does not mention that there's a guest house at the back of the house, just past the patio. Sharing a patio in an apt or condo is expected, but a surprise when you rent a house. On the day the back house guests were to depart, the cleaning ladies arrived before they left, so they sat waiting at the other patio table across from where my friend was having coffee. And a bit later they knocked at the back door to use the washer dryer for the linens. Since my friend was in the doorless bathroom showering, she didn't hear them return to put the clothes in the drier, then heard strange voices inside the house. Not expecting strangers entering, I had left my rings, gold watch and wallet out on the guest bedroom bed when I left for a walk.

The owner says she's told them to use a laundromat, but when I talked to the cleaning ladies in fluent Spanish, they told me this is what they always do.

Otherwise, the house is vey clean, with very comfortable beds, and a very nice kitchen. I walked to the beach and around town, so good location. Even though this is a fairly busy street, we didn't hear street noise, just 1-2 trains during the night.

Comfortable during the day, difficult at night.

  • 2 of 5

This house is clean and spacious, the available bikes are nice to have, and the pass for the beach chairs eliminates having to transport chairs to the beach. That said, here are a couple of additional things potential renters may want to know.

The full bath is located inside the master bedroom, so guests in the second bedroom need to come through the master in order to use the shower. Also, the full bath doesn't have a door and is open to the master, so there is no privacy in the bathroom.

There is a light on the outside of the house that blinks on and off constantly throughout the night, lighting up both bathroom and bedroom, making it challenging to sleep. (The owner told me that they would ask their handyman to turn this light off in the future). If you are not bothered by the light, you will definitely hear the trains. Some trains are loud enough to cause the bed to vibrate.

Owner's Response: We are very sorry that the security lights were coming on while this guest was in our home. We had then dismantled a year ago but one of our industrious handymen put them back up without us knowing. They have been taken down and are no longer a problem. The train has always been in Delray Beach. I believe that some times they have more trains and larger trains than usual. This is obviously out of our control but people are sensitive to different things. If you are very sensitive to noise when you sleep then, yes, this may be a bother. The master bathroom in the one bedroom can be a sensitive issue for some people. There is a half bath in the hallway that helps to remedy this situation. Thank you for your comments.

Great little house right near downtown but nearby railroad kept me up at night

  • 3 of 5

Owners were accomodating and helpful. House is clean and comfortable. It is modern and 2 blocks from downtown. I used the provided bikes daily. I give this house a 3 only because a train goes by 4 times in the night and made it hard for me to sleep. Otherwise great place.

Clean and comfortable

  • 3 of 5

Clyde, our host, was friendly and helpful.

The home was clean and comfortable. We cooked Thanksgiving dinner in the spacious kitchen, 3 cooks, without a problem. A minor inconvenience was the lack of bath and dishwashing soap. And no iron was found. A refrigerator shelf was broken and taped but didn't hold when we placed food items on it. All concerns were reported to Clyde.

I would recommend this home for it's convenient location to Atlantic Ave. The friendly owner. It's cleanliness and spaciousness. But be aware of train proximity with early morning whistle!

Wonderful cottage

  • 5 of 5

This is a very comfortable, very clean and newly updated cottage close to Atlantic Ave. It is just a 2 1/2 block walk to Atlantic where you can pick up the trolley to ride to the beach. There were also two bikes available to use. Uber is just $5 to beach if you are feeling lazy and don't want to walk. Debbie was very easy to work with. She let us check in early and stay late on checkout day since no one was after us. She replied to any e-mails within a couple hours. The house had everything you needed - beach towels, beach chairs, boogie boards and bath towels. She also provides a pass for the umbrella with two chairs on the beach. This is normally a $40 per day rental. Having that was great! We loved the cottage and Debbie and would stay there again!
