About Katie Murphy

My name is Glenn Pereira and I am the owner of the villa.

Katie Murphy is my daughter and she kindly handles all the administration to do with villa enquiries and bookings. She is very efficient and will give you the best service possible.

I was born in Burma (now Myanmar) as a British citizen and came to England at the age of 9, to the Croydon area of South East London. I was educated at St Joseph's College in Upper Norwood and UMIST, part of Manchester University, before living in the Wirral, Merseyside and working in Liverpool for 8 years. Married Fiona, who was born in Surrey but lived all her life on the Wirral, and moved with her and our three kids (1,3,5) to the Netherlands where we lived for 22 years before returning to England, to a lovely village called Clifton Hampden near Oxford. I worked in IT and Management consultancy before semi retirement and now work part time as chairman of a training company in the Netherlands.

Katie is our youngest and she is married and living in Cornwall. Having lived much of her life in the Netherlands, she is fluent in Dutch and German. She went to a EU run European school in Bergen in the Netherlands before obtaining an Equine Science degree at Writtle College near Chelmsford. She then worked with horses for many years, mostly with Blue Cross, before becoming the Production Manager for a Lighting company. She is now married and living in Cornwall.

Katie Murphy purchased this villa in 2006

Why Katie Murphy chose Lycian & Turquoise Coast

Cedar Villa is beautifully located with stunning views, peaceful surroundings and reasonable access to the town while enjoying a rather unique position of absolutely uninterrupted views only 50 yards from the Mediterranean. How often can you find a property so close to the sea?

What makes this villa unique

What our guests usually say is that the villa is very well equipped and they very much appreciate the services and considerate attention of Mehmet, our Property Manager.

Guestbook comments from the manager

***** Home from home

I'm a seasoned traveller and decided to book an independent holiday with my family(can be very risky in today's scamming climate), Katie was available on the end of the phone for my many questions(sorry Katie)!, transfers arranged through Mehmet in Kalkan(a man sent from the gods), smooth private transfer and arrived late at night. Villa was truly beautiful, views to die for across Kalkan Bay, car transfer handy for sight seeing and food shopping, but not essential, we walked a 2 min stroll to the bay and used the tranquil water taxi( available day and night until 04:00hrs) to take us to Kalkan marina, with enough shops and restaurants to keep you entertained for days!. Cedar villa has everything needed plus more, a huge choice of DVD's to watch after coming back on the boat at night(kids loved this), great sized rooms and fully equipped kitchen. Being able to take less clothes and popping into the washing machine and drying on the line in the back garden within 20 mins leaves loads of room in your case for beautiful gifts purchased in Kalkan shops( gorgeous coloured glass lanterns were my downfall). Swimming pool fantastic, pump stopped working one morning, phoned Mehmet, he was at the villa within 10 mins and an electrician was there 10 mins later and repairs completed within 30 mins(try beating that in England)!!!! Mehmet is sent from the gods, he arrived by 9:00 every day, chatted about life in Turkey, about his family and about his religion, a wonderful man, knowing that when your in a foreign country that you have a wonderful man on the end of a phone to help you out whenever you need beats any holiday rep, thanks Mehmet for all you did and our lovely chats, and for reading my Turkish instructions for my sun burn cream. We will definitely be returning, I would love to say more about this wonderful villa but I won't because I need to make sure it doesn't get overbooked and stops me from returning!!!

Beautiful villa with excellent furnishings

  • 5 of 5

We've just returned from Turkey and I just had to write to say how fantastic your villa is and what a lovely holiday we had. The views were just amazing, and we were so relaxed for the two weeks that we hardly left the villa!

What really stood out apart from the position of the villa was how everything inside and out was of such excellent quality, all the decoration and furnishings and the kitchen equipment and garden furniture. It was a real pleasure to stay in your beautiful villa!

The photos and descriptions of the villa/location/etc were completely accurate and in fact the views were even more beautiful than expected. It was lovely to be able to walk (5-10 minutes) to buy bread, milk, fruit and basis groceries from local stores, but with a choice of three larger supermarkets within a 5 minute drive. You could walk to a few local restaurants or have a larger choice just 5 minutes' drive away.

I would highly recommend this property.

Owner's Response: Thanks Jessica. It's great to receive such positive reviews but I must give the credit to my wife Fiona who ensures everything is good quality and functioning.

Views to die for!

  • 5 of 5

Have just returned from Kalkan where we spent two weeks in Cedar Villa. The location and views are absolutely stunning. The villa is very well equipped for all your needs and feels very homely. We ate out most nights in Kalkan which is a short drive away (taxi's are readily available and very cheap). The restaurants are fantastic, I don't think we had a bad meal in two weeks! We all enjoyed the pool which overlooks the sea! All in all a great holiday, will definitely return!

Amazing Villa

  • 5 of 5

This is our first visit to Kalkan and Cedar Villa. We have had an amazing holiday and it helped that the villa was so well equipped, you name it and it was in the villa from baby plates and beakers to full set of pans, iron, and it was great to have a dishwasher and a washing machine, it was like going from home to home. It was good to have 3 floors the house was large enough for 2 couples to have their own space and not get in each other's way, Mehmet is amazing, he comes every morning and cleans the pool and the outside area. If you happen to have any problems he will come over straight away. We have enjoyed a wonderful 2 week family holiday. The restaurants are amazing and we enjoyed Kaputas Beach where you can get homemade pancakes it is Well worth a trip to Xanthos ancient city and Sakilent Gorge where you can go on a zip wire and rafting.

Excellent

  • 5 of 5

Stayed at cedar villa for 7 days with my family, we had a fantastic time. I was surprised that the villa had a PlayStation, which the kids loved.

For anyone thinking to book a car it may not be nessary, it's always useful but you can get to places without a car. You can hop on the water bus and get to kalkan town within 5 minutes. Local convenient store is a 5 minute walk from the villa and there are also a few restrants really close by that you can get to by foot ( they also do home delivery)

P.S a big thank you to mehmet 's brother for taking us to the best sweet shop for buklava. I will be booking this villa again in the near future.

Fantastic

  • 5 of 5

Travelled from New Zealand. Picked up our kids from UK and had a lovely family holiday here. Mehlmut was very helpful especially when our transfer hadnt turned up at the airport and his was the only phone number we had! Loved the villa and its location so much we had to force ourselves to go visit a few ruins now and then. There is plenty to see and do as you would like. Property was in excellent condition and a perfect location. Had every extra we ever needed, kitchen well equipped. We could not fault our stay and of course none of us wanted to leave.

cedar villa

  • 4 of 5

Cedar Villa is situated in Kisla, offering peace and privacy with breathtaking scenery. Ideal for couples or families, Kisla is a short boat ride or a five minute drive or taxi ride from the town Kalkan with its picturesque harbour and narrow, cobbled streets packed with fascinating shops (rugs, clothes, antiques, jewellery, ceramics etc), bars and cafes. At night Kalkan comes to life, with its high quality restaurants, many at roof terrace level, with stunning views. Kalkan has its own small beach by the harbour. Kaputas, a lovely sandy beach at the foot of a ravine, is 8 minutes away by car and Patara beach, the second longest in the world, is 15 minutes drive away. Kalkan is set in an area steeped in history, with many ancient sites nearby. These include Xanthos, Letoon, Pinara, Tlos and Patara. A trip up to the mountains behind Kalkan will take your breath away. Kalkan and the area offer lots of watersports, including water-skiing, snorkelling and diving. Activities and trips are easily arranged.
