Hi! We're Nicholas & Celeste Meyeres and we adore the Southwestern high desert, nature, wildlife and meeting new people!
Nicholas is our hospitality expert (before welcoming guests full-time in our home, he was a manager at both a top rated country club in Kansas for 6 years as well as the Hospitality Services manager for 10 years at Best Friends Animal Society)!
Celeste, whose nickname is Crickets, is founder, owner, designer and one-woman-knitter (she's created and sold thousands of scarves, throw blankets, etc. including a shawl for Stevie Nicks to wear on stage while on tour with Fleetwood Mac)!
In 2013 we bought a huge 'mini mansion' on a wild 3 acres with nothing but open country and spacious views behind. We call it the 'Burro Flats High Desert Lodge.'
This home and location is so beautiful that it delights us when others enjoy it, too.
We live in the downstairs of the three level house (the 2nd largest in Kanab), with separate entry, kitchen, bathroom, et cetera, so you'll mainly only see us at check in and check out (when we welcome you and then when we say 'Bon voyage, see you next time!')
Celeste Meyeres purchased this house in 2013
There is absolutely no other place like the southern Utah southwestern high desert. This area boasts honest, friendly people, breathtaking skies, colorful rock formations and unique and diverse plant and wild life. This is our home for life... and we invite you to make it your home during your stay with us!
We've both always dreamed of having a *huge* house with plenty of room for family get togethers on a private, uncrowded property space! As soon as we 'met' this house, we knew that it was perfect for us! We love sharing this once-in-a-lifetime find with others.
Celeste and Nicholas were the best hosts anyone could ask for.
We had 16 people and we had everything we needed and more.
The house is perfect for large groups and the views are spectacular.
Location is great for touring all the National Parks and Best Friends Animal Sanctuary which should not be missed.
All the dining recommendations proved to be excellent.
You won't find a better place or better people.
We rented the entire house for a family gathering and were very pleased. The house is beautiful and had plenty of room for the 13 of us. Celeste and Nicholas were so friendly and welcoming and were knowledgeable about the area. I highly recommend this property.
I have stayed at many VRBO properties and this house was very nice.
One caution which was an issue for our stay, is the misrepresentation of bathrooms. There are only 2 1/2 baths in the house which guests have access to. One in the master, 1/2 bath on the main floor and 1 upstairs (to accommodate 4 bedrooms on that level). We worked through it but with 4 couples we had to work out shower schedules.
Celeste was very helpful during the entire rental process, even sending a weather forecast to us prior to our arrival. Then she took us on a tour of the house explaining any details required.
Sunrises and sunsets were spectacular!
I think we were the first folks to stay in Celeste and Nicholas' home. It is wonderful, magical, and fun! You never know what you are going to find here....there are surprises around every corner. We stayed in the Cowboy room....we could have slept in a different room every night, but we didn't! We did relax on the futon in the loft on a couple of lazy afternoons. The only thing that would have made this trip better was if Nicholas had been there and cooked for us!
If you can get Celeste to take you to her yarn room, you will see an array of colors!! She is soooo talented! Both of them are sooo friendly and can tell you about great places to visit.
Our reason for coming back to Kanab was to volunteer at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary. You really have to drive up and see BFAS and the gorgeous land it sits upon. If you really want a treat, volunteer just for a morning or afternoon. They have dogs, cats, piggy's, bunnies, parrots, horses and much, much more. Best Friends also has tours that are free and will show you what great work they are doing!
Other things are the north rim of the Grand Canyon, Zion, Page, lots of gorgeous scenery in Utah and Arizona. Go to the Rocking V (get a reservation if it is during Grand Canyon season) and have lunch or dinner, you will have a blast.
So come to Kanab......you won't be sorry!! Come and visit the SECOND Biggest House in Kanab!
We stayed at this house in early June 2015. Celeste was a gracious host who was very attentive to our needs. The house was large and well represented by the pictures in the listing. It was well stocked with incidentals, spices and appliances. We really enjoyed the open space views and the donkeys in the corral. It was a great location to access all the southwest Utah national parks and monuments. We would definitely plan on staying there again.
The living room and kitchen area are spacious and perfect for hanging out and relaxing for a big group. That alone was worth the rental cost. The house is just outside the downtown area with great views of the mountains. We had 9 adults and were quite comfortable. The owners were very friendly and helpful in making sure we had everything we needed. The rooms all had a fun/funky theme and were very clean. Great place to stay and excellent value for groups and families.
Payment up front seals reservation. We will not rent to any other guests during your stay. Payment is non-refundable and IS transferable (if necessary, stay can be rescheduled). In case of emergency, if for unforeseen circumstances beyond our control we must cancel your stay, we will promptly refund in full as soon as the need to cancel is discovered.
