Great neighborhood, very friendly owner, and nice accommodations!
Stayed here for 5 nights earlier this month, and would definitely stay here again on a future trip to Roma.
The location: The neighborhood was our favorite part of this listing. It is easy and cheap to get to the main tourist attractions within 30 minutes using the metro or tram - both are within a 5 minute walk. However, it was great to stay away from tourist center and live like a local. There is a great pedestrian area very close to the apartment on Via del Pigneto (2 minute walk). Every morning there is a local fresh produce market until about noon, and there are also restaurants open for cappuccino and light breakfast. In the evenings, the place comes to life with 20+ restaurants. Many have great happy hour specials around 6-10 euro for a drink and an appetizer (the aperitivo!). The prices were overall better than the restaurants in the tourist center, and the quality was great - after all, these are the places where the locals eat!
The host: Mario was always very responsive and helpful all the way through from our initial booking to our checkout. He gave us perfect and economical advice on how to get to the apartment from the airport. When we arrived he met us and showed us on a map where the metro and tram stops are located and gave advice on which lines to take depending on where we wanted to go. He also showed on the map where the local grocery stores are - there are 2 within a 5 minute walk. During our stay, there was a small problem with the dehumidifier in the apartment and Mario had it fixed promptly within 24 hours.
The apartment: The apartment does not have air conditioning but there is a dehumidifier and two circulating fans. It was certainly hot in July (at least 90F/31C while we were there), but the fans helped a lot for us to sleep at night. If you require air conditioning then you will need to look elsewhere.
The pictures on the listing paint a very accurate picture of what you will find. The rooms are clean and there is plenty of room for 2 people. In the bedroom there is a nice size closet with drawers with plenty of space for a week of clothing for 2. The closet also had extra pillows, sheets, and blankets. The bathroom was very clean and well stocked with clean towels, hand soap, toilet paper, and a hair dryer (my wife was very happy about this). The kitchen has everything you need to prepare some meals in if you like. The internet worked perfectly the whole time.
Thanks again for everything, Mario!
Nice place to stay near Rome
Nice place to stay near Rome, 5 min walk from Subway, plenty of restaurants and local bars in the area. Definitely would stay again.
Lovely apartment in a great area. Comfortable with all you need. 15 mins from Rome central.
Mario was a great host from the booking onwards. He answered any initial questions before we arrived and gave us directions. He met us at the bus stop and provided a map and all we needed to know about transport into Rome.
Pigneto is a great spot. Recommend Alberto for pizza and Pigneto 1870 for a perfect dinner.
Thanks Mario! 5 star apartment and service! Wendy and David (Brighton, UK)
Thank you for your review. Mario
Lovely little apartment
Really enjoyed our stay at Mario's property.
A very well-finished one bedroom apartment which has everything required for a good stay in Rome. Mario was very helpful at explaining the best way to get to all the sites in Rome and even before we'd traveled to Italy had mentioned that certain attractions should be pre-booked online for ease.
The only slight issue we had was that we thought the metro stopped close to the apartment, on arrival Mario explained that this metro stop was currently under construction. Therefore it is a 15 minute tram ride to termini, then joining the metro at termini to Coloseum/Vatican etc. Not a huge deal but took a little longer to get into central Rome than we expected.
I would recommend getting the Roma pass, we did the 72 hour pass and it made travel/attractions a lot easier.
Overall we enjoyed staying at Mario's and if we come back to Rome then would happily stay again at the apartment.
Small but comfortable apartment in quiet area.
We spent six nights here and were quite comfortable. The apartment was clean in in a very nice residential area.Bus nearby to take you into the center where all the sites are. We had a great time.
Great apartment, even better neighbourhood!
We stayed at this apartment from Oct 14 to Oct 17, 2017 and I booked this property based on the price and location to tourist attractions. We were in for a pleasant surprise to find out what an amazing neighbourhood we were in. There is a market during the day and restaurants and bars at night brimming with locals. We spent our nights drinking wine and eating the best meals we have ever had right outside our door, it was incredible. I would recommend this neighbourhood to anyone!
Mario was fantastic - allowed us to add a third person last minute, meeting us at the bus station and drawing out a map of everything we needed to know. The apartment was exactly as it looked in photos and very clean with some food basics we were able to use before we could get to the store, very handy. The patio space was perfect for what we needed however we did not have neighbours while we were there - but with the shared patio and connecting doors could be perfect for 2 couples or a group.
Great experience! Would book again!
