Photos and Description of this 3 bedroom holiday cabin in Beech Mountain - Paws and Relax

Beautiful 3 bedroom 2 bath cabin with a sleeping loft (futon couch). Pooches welcome. If the temperature is agreeable they can enjoy one of the ONLY fenced yards on Beech Mountain. Humans can enjoy our rustic bocce court and HUGE layered deck with multiple seating/dining areas and gas grill. The house is on a paved road and has a level entry. No stairs required other than a step down from the parking area. This is an entirely non-smoking property both inside and out (in the yard or on the deck).

The house has everything you need to enjoy a ski trip or a summer stay -- wireless internet, all linens, dishes, and toiletries. Cable TV and blu-ray in the main living area, TV with smart blu-ray in the master bedroom, and TV with Roku in the loft.

Close to it all:

Beech Mountain Club (pool, clay tennis, golf, clubhouse dining). Member/Guest privileges are available at a small additional cost (all user fees can be found at http://beechmountainclub.org/guest-information/)

6 minutes to the slopes or Beech Mountain Club tennis courts

10 minutes to Fred's (if they don't have it, you don't need it.)

2 minutes to the driving range

5 to the Beech Mountain Club and beautiful golf course

1-5 minutes to Miles and Miles of Beech Mountain trails with ratings from easy to moderate and strenuous. There is always a trail map at the cabin.

Just 1 mile to the Beech Mountian Recreation Center. For just a couple dollars a day enjoy all that the center has to offer: indoor/outdoor tennis (ball machine), weight room, volleyball, basketball and take advantage of their many classes such as yoga.

30 minutes to Grandfather Mountain. If you have never been this is a must. Day or season passes are available allowing you access to trails and THE most spectacular views in the high country.

45 minutes to Linville Falls. More great trails but this time with views of gorgeous mountain falls. If you go to Linville Falls, you must stop at the Linville River Mercantile for the best desserts you will ever have.

20 and 30 minutes to two fabulous High country wineries.

45 minutes to Watauga lake. You will be surprised at how reasonable it is to rent a boat (speed or pontoon) for the day. If you are here in the summer, this is a must! Boat all day surrounded by majestic mountains and national forest. We are glad to share our favorite marina and food tips.

1.20 hours to the Virginia Creeper Trail. Also a must! Bike 17 miles (all downhill). Take your time and enjoy several passes over the Appalachian Trail and explore an old rail stop, bridges, and stop for ice cream. We would be glad to share a couple of our favorite bike rental companies. It is worth a couple bucks to get shuttled to the top.

The owners are proud to consider themselves an all-season family. We would love to answer any questions you have about Beech Mountian. The Mr. was President of the Beech Mountian ski team and the Mrs. loses herself every weekend (any season) on tens of miles of mountain trail runs. There is not an inch of this awesome mountain that we have not explored. We highly recommend ski lessons! We would love to help you with tips on renting skis and would love to help you book private or group lessons. Do not expect to just walk up and get lessons during Holiday weeks!

Why Brian Granger chose High Country & Blue Ridge Mountains

We purchased this house as a year round getaway. We live in North Carolina, and the property is close to one of the owner's homes in East Tennessee. It is a truly wonderful place already full of so many memories. We've not rented it before, but as our children get a little older, we find ourselves getting up a little bit less. So, we are making this retreat available to you!

Absolutely beautiful place!!!

  • 5 of 5

The cabin has a lot of space and is well apointed with everything you need. The descrepiton and pictures are spot on. The place is very clean and well maintained. Brian is great with communication and sends you a detailed document with all of the info you need. The cabin is on one of the paved roads which is real nice. Everything on Beech is real nice, the roads and rec center are great, we missed the 4th of July festivities, but they had some fun things planned. We stayed in the summer, the temps & weather were amazing, my daughter went to the summer camp at the rec center and I rode bike every day. The riding is amazing, some challenging efforts with all of the elevation gains will test your legs. I recommend Emerald Outback, again the City of Beech is doing a fabulous job with trail maps. The wildlife around the place is also really cool, lots of birds, you'll see deer and chipmunks, and maybe a woodchuck. Lots of great hiking trails and parks all around Beech. We loved our stay and will definitely plan to come back. I highly recommend it for a stay in Beech.

Perfect place to relax

  • 5 of 5

This house was everything we hoped it would be and exactly what we needed! As soon as we arrived we felt right at home. The house was equipped with everything described and then some. The bed was amazingly comfortable. We traveled with our dog and the fenced in yard was a great place for her to safely explore and then hang out with us as we enjoyed a fire one evening. I think her favorite place, and ours, was the large back deck. What an amazing view to take in while drinking your coffee or wine. An added treat was watching the deer graze everyday.

The owners provided very detailed information before our arrival that was extremely helpful. We appreciated their insight and suggestions regarding local trails to hike and enjoyed a couple of them. We would definitely recommend this house to others and can't wait until we are able to return for a longer visit.

A wonderful place to unwind!

  • 5 of 5

The description of the cabin and the amenities is spot on, but once there it seemed so much more than what was described. Although this is in the Beech Mountain community we felt we had a piece of the mountain to ourselves. The leaves began turning while we were there and the view out the back was gorgeous. My husband’s favorite part of the cabin was the large deck where he enjoyed his coffee each morning. The owners have made this cabin very cozy and it is well stocked with games, kitchen utensils, blankets and towels. The master bed was very comfortable and both of us slept soundly each night we were there. We appreciated this property being pet friendly as at the last minute we had to bring our small dog who also seemed to thoroughly enjoy the surroundings. Brian was very responsive to our emails and the information left in the cabin regarding things to do and see was very helpful. We stayed for four nights and hope to return and stay longer! When returning we will plan to arrive before dark as being from Florida the hairpin turns up and down the mountain in the dark certainly got my adrenalin pumping :).

Cozy cabin

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was very relaxing and cozy especially with all the rain we had. There were 7 of us, 3 of those were kids. More than enough board games and stuff to do.

Warm, comfortable and well equipped

  • 4 of 5

Lovely setting, great neighborhood. Really appreciate how pet friendly this property is. The master bed was very comfortable, and we enjoyed opening windows to the cool nights- bring a bag of ice as there is no icemaker, and the trays provided were broken. Great visit. We will be back!!

Nice place to stay if you have a pet; Beach Mountain Club membership option; Very rustic, but...

  • 2 of 5

This was our first time to Beach Mountain. We spent a month from July 11 to Aug 10, 2016. Priorities for a place to stay were:

1. Had a membership to Beach Mountain Club that could be transferred to us for the month

2. Accepted a pet; we have one 40 lb very gentle and quiet collie

3. Not to far away from the Beach mountain club

4. Internet / WiFi

This cabin met all of the above criteria, except it turned out to be 2.6 miles to the tennis and pickleball courts

Some additional pluses discovered upon arrival:

1. Excellent internet speed and good selection of TV channels with Charter service (cable TV only in Den)

2. Large back deck with a propane grill and extra fuel tank and view into trees

3. Fenced yard, so we did not have to worry about our dog wandering away

4. King bed in the master BR had a 4 inch soft topper.

5. Kitchen had plenty of cookware.

6. Nice neighbors in both houses across the street.

Thing that could have been better:

1. Like many rustic cabins, it was VERY dark inside. All of the surfaces (floors, cabinets, furniture, walls and ceiling) were black, dark brown, stone or wood. There simply was not enough natural light during the day to read and the small lamps were not placed conveniently or outlets available were needed.

2. While the place was just "cleaned", there was dust on all of the shelves and decorations. Deck paint pealing and covered in algae. Upper windows had film. Kitchen cabinets were spray painted black and the handles sticky. Refrig and panty left with lots of old opened condiments. Oven had spoiled food from the prior occupants.

3. Unless you have children, the cabin really only sleeps a couple in one king bed. The second bedroom was stacked bunk beds and the loft was a pull-out futon. Not a problem for us, but the closet in the second BR was locked which greatly limited the closet hanging space.

4. There were lots of games and decorations, but simply too much stuff everywhere. Example: To access the draws of one dresser in the second BR we had to relocate it. To use any table or countertop surface we had to move items aside. Lots of Christmas decorations still out (in July, really?)

5. Like many rentals the bed sheets were threadbare and the kitchen serving ware was a mix of thrift shop items

6. Animals get into garbage on Beach Mountain. The wooden cage did not deter them. Had to carry a bag into town daily.

Owner's Response: We are very disappointed to see this review and we hope that other travelers will note our history of 5 star reviews on this wonderful home. Unfortunately, the traveler who wrote this review left our home in a dismal state. They relocated furniture, small appliances, and decor, and left the home filthy. Our cleaning crew required double the time to get the home ready for our next renter. In turn, we withheld $50 of the security deposit (despite having incurred an extra $100 in charges ourselves). I'm afraid that this is the reason for the review, and as such we have requested that VRBO remove it. Some specific responses to what has been written, though: 1) The home is full of windows and natural light. We've never felt the home to be dark whatsoever. 2) The home was in excellent cleanliness prior to arrival. We ourselves were the last people there, so we know the condition it was in. 3) I do not at all understand the bedroom comment. The bunk beds are clearly, clearly noted in our description. And the loft has an entire bedroom in addition to the futon. Perhaps they did not actually walk upstairs to see it, but to say it didn't exist is entirely incorrect. 4) We keep a winter theme in our mountain cabin. It appears that they had a problem with that. Most travelers have given us feedback of how much they enjoy it. 5) Bedsheets are less than a year old and in excellent condition. 6) Yes, there was a locked owners closet. I have yet to stay in a VRBO home myself that did not have one. Please read the review from Christian, who was there only 2 weeks prior to the renters who left this spiteful review.
