Nature Retreat

  • 5 of 5

What a splendid little cabin. My children, 5 and 16 months, were enchanted by the goats. So much to see from wildlife to nature and an amazing tour and history of the property from Beth. We enjoyed 2 days of hiking at the Colorado Bend Park and it was nice to have so much to see around the cabin for the other 2 days of arrival and departure. It was such a pleasant spot we've booked a week for next year the same day we left.

Perfect cabin hideaway

  • 5 of 5

We are big hikers and planned hikes in Colorado Bend State Park and were looking for a place close by where we didn't have to camp or stay in a budget motel. This was the perfect location for us. We loved exploring the property and being out in the country. The ranch is so pretty. We enjoyed the horses, goats and cattle all around. Spotted a skunk and fox so that was fun from a distance. Saw plenty of deer in the area, turkey, some ostriches on another property and lots of birds. The cabin was just right for us. Brought some food to heat up, but enjoyed going into San Saba for some dinner, wine and shopping. Nice cabin to unwind in and just sit on the porch and enjoy the view.

This is such a great place to go to get out of the city to enjoy the peace and quiet of the country

  • 5 of 5

The property is beautiful. The cabin may be small but it has all the necessities you need. I really enjoyed feeding the horses and goats that are on the property. It was very entertaining. It was fun to watch the different wildlife on the property. Beth was a great host, she gave us a tour of the property and shared lots of knowledge about the property with us. We will definitely be coming back with our kids so they can enjoy it also! Thank you Beth!

Awesome Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

Upon arrival, we were met by Beth who offered to give us a tour of the ranch. Not only did we enjoy the beautiful landscape but we also loved the history behind it. Each morning we were greeted by horses and goats. We spent most of our time hiking and fishing along Antelope Creek that ran through the property. We caught several bass and perch. The cabin was charming and cozy. We did not want to leave! We couldn't ask for better hosts. The Nest is a perfect retreat for outdoorsy people who want to get away and recharge from their daily routine.

Fabulous - unplugged time!

  • 5 of 5

Very clean and adorable cabin with everything you need for a rustic experience. We thought we'd go camping, but I realized I'm the type of gal who really needs a bed and hot shower. The cabin was perfect. We loved being able to interact with the horses and goats too! The horses would come right up to the porch in the morning. (Ha ha, it like 'Green Acres.') The owners were also super nice and accomodating and always responded to texts right away. I would say the only drawback would be it was closer to the road than we would have preferred (we could hear cars as we sat outside), but it was the perfect location to use as a base for exploring Colorado Bend State Park and the kids LOVED being able to ride all over the ranch and explore the trails and creeks. We are already planning a return trip!

Wonderful Stay!

  • 5 of 5

We loved this quaint, clean, and well stocked cabin for our family of 4. It was the perfect weekend to get away from it all! The hosts were so kind and also shared the wonderful history of their property. We really enjoyed having the goats and horses around us to pet and laugh at! The bats under the bridge were a nice spectacle to see as well! The stars at night were so incredibly bright! We would love to return and take advantage of the pool when it is a little warmer! Fiesta Winery and Colorado Bend State Park were close enough to visit! I highly recommend it!
