About the property

This recently renovated traditional village house has a light and natural feel throughout. Located in an unspoilt valley with wonderful views to the sea.

Only a short 15 mins drive inland away from the hustle and bustle of the Costa Del Sol, and 25 mins from historic Malaga city, lies the sleepy, untouched hamlet of Benaque where the road ends. Set in a picturesque valley amongst olive, almond and mango trees, ‘La Forastera’ is a lovingly renovated traditional rural house located on the dramatic ridge of a hill on the outskirts of the hamlet, and is the perfect place for a relaxing, authentic Spanish holiday surrounded by stunning countryside.

The house has beautiful uninterrupted views of the sea in the distance in front and of a dramatic uninhabited valley behind. The property has a very light and warm natural feel with terracotta tiles, exposed stone walls, traditional oiled wooden doors and shutters and hand made decorative tiles used tastefully throughout. Two private terraces and a garden provide ample opportunity to enjoy the sun and views, or go inside to the open plan living/dining room and relax in front of the wood burning fire on a chilly winter evening.

The nearest beach, Benajarafe is only 15 mins away and is very quiet with many beach restaurants.

"What a wonderful house, ...

"What a wonderful house, with the most perfect surroundings! If you want a quiet, restful holiday in the 'real Spain' (but with the beach within a short drive's distance) this is the place for you. I cannot recommend this house highly enough. For a couple, or a family, it is very well equipped and perfectly situated for sunny morning breakfasts, and cool evening meals out on the terrace. Perfecto!"

"Great house, great surro...

"Great house, great surrounding, very helpfull and positive owner. House is located in beautifull and very calm, peacefull rural and mountain area. Drive to the beaches is quick and we could reach busy turist destinations in 15 minutes. There is also plenty to see around. Generally it was very comfortale to stay in the house when outside was 36 degrees Celsius. House has great circulation of air. It has also terraces at the front and at the back so we could eat and drink in the shadow. House has its own atmosphere which we liked very much. We will be back:-)"

Maison spacieuse jolie et confortable. Le calme et la beauté du village et des montagnes (vues du lit) la mer à 2 minutes ainsi que Malaga. Eva, La propriétaire est vraiment quelqu'un de bien. Merci pour tout.

Pour de belles vacances

Cette maison est typique et très belle, agencée avec simplicité et bon gout, on s'y sent bien. Elle est au calme, dans l'arrière pays de Malaga. Les terrasses sont très agréables, elles permettent de prendre petit-déjeuner et repas à l'ombre, face à une belle vue. On y passe d'excellents vacances. A recommander !

Fly to Malaga Airport - 'La Forastera' is only 35 mins drive away.

Simply drive 25 km drive East along the coast on the motorway towards Málaga and then Motril or Almería (A7), then you come off the motorway (exit 258 )and turn inland towards Macharaviaya. You will drive on a single road for 8 km and you will be in Benaque.

Benaque has sub tropical temperatures similar to California. The valley itself is famous for it's production of muscatel grapes. Olive, Almond and Mango trees are also grown.

The valley is popular with both hikers and mountain bikers and those seeking tranquility.

Benaque was the birthplace of the poet Salvador Rueda, to whom a small museum is dedicated in the village.

Over the summer months the nearby tranquil outdoor communal swimming pool opens and costs just 1 euro for a full day.

A giant paella is cooked at Benaque's festival, on the first weekend of Sept and an open air stage and bar provide night long local entertainment.

Just 1.5 km away, Macharaviaya is an historically important and picturesque village. The historical center of this village has a preservation order on it. Some Spanish and foreign artists, ceramicists, painters and writers live among the villagers.

The historic city of Malaga is a 25 min drive, with many places of interest including the moorish castle, bullring, Picasso Museum, impressive Cathedral and historic centre.

Just 15 min away is the pretty coastal resort of Rincón de la Victoria with the nearest main shops, banks and supermarkets. Also here is the only cave of sea origin known in Europe (Cueva del Tesoro) whilst the internationally renowned dramatic Nerja caves are just 30 min East and well worth a day out.

A large water park (aquavelis) is a 20 min drive away at Torre del Mar.

The nearest golf course, Añoreta Golf, is just 10 mins away.
