About Benjamin Ray

I grew up in Wilmington, NC, went to school at NC State and Lees-McRae, obtained a Business degree and have invested in real estate for about 10 years. I left my management job with Food Lion after 15 years of employment, to start a career as a real estate agent just 3 and a half years ago...and love it! I absolutely love the mountains of NC and all they have to offer for enjoying the great outdoors!

Benjamin Ray purchased this chalet in 2013

Why Benjamin Ray chose High Country & Blue Ridge Mountains

A good friend from California and I bought this house as a rental investment together. The main draw was the location, and the open, modern character along with the great potential I saw with the needed updates that have now been added.

What makes this chalet unique

Easy to access, clean and convenient, private, and affordable.

The property was great for our two family needs. It was super close to the ski slopes and about a 30 minute ride to snow tubing. The house filled all our needs. Thanks

Great value, very nice place

We only stayed a couple days during the summer for a quick getaway, but this was so much better than getting a one-room hotel in the area (especially with my mother-in-law travelling with us). The pet fee is super reasonable, which was also a big plus. The place is rustic, and very clean. No A/C, but didn't need it, just open the windows and let the mountain air breeze through. We were out exploring the area most of the time anyway, so this was the perfect accommodation. You can hear the train whistle from Tweetsie Railroad Theme park from the house(looks fun, might be a future trip for us) We hopped on the Blue Ridge Parkway to Grandfather Mountain (which entry fee is $20 adults, $18 Seniors, $9 Children 4yr+, pricey but worth it). Only about 15 min drive or less to Boone Walmart or local restaurants, and had no issues finding a place to eat. We will definitely look to stay here again if we're in the area. If you are going skiing at App Ski Mountain...this is like prime spot as it's literally around the corner.

Great ski getaway

Perfect family weekend. Spacious for 9, clean & all amenities needed. Great location. We did both night & day ski at Appalachian followed by an afternoon in downtown Blowing Rock. Close enough to Sugar Mountain to get one last session in. Great overall experience for all. Even the kids!! About the only complaint was that still a lot of ice in drive, I got stuck for about 20 min. but got free & carried on. Maybe prepositioning a bin of sand/kitty litter to alleviate a potential problem. Didn't see any on site. Otherwise would definitely come back
