Why Peter chose Aspro
The English summer is too unreliable, so we went looking for an escape in the sun. We discovered Crete by chance, and instantly liked it. It is open all year round and we like the Greek traditions. We also love our location, tucked away from the crowds, great views and a great place to relax. We still have everything we need beach, shops, tavernas close by.
What makes this Villa unique
The house, pool and garden are private, it is peaceful and relaxing to be here. We love the views, we think the olive groves and mountains are as beautiful as the view of the bay. We also like to look at the stars from the balcony at night. It is easy to explore the island from here and there is plenty to see and do. Almyrida and Kalyves are beachside towns and permanent homes also. They have local businesses and shops which provide everything you need. It is friendly here and less touristic than larger resorts on the island. This is our own villa and we do our best to make sure that it is well maintained and equipped. We want our guests to be comfortable and have everything they need.

Excellent well equipped villa
We are a family of 5, three children 8-10 and we were very happy with our stay at this villa. The welcome package was very thoughtful especially as we arrived quite late. The villa has everything you need and the location is great with Almirida a short drive down the hill where you find a nice stretch of beach and an excellent variety of great quality tavernas full of friendly staff and delicious Greek food! Dimitris was our favourite but you are spoilt for choice. Our children loved the pool which is a decent size and we spent many days playing about there and as the owners had assured us it all was quite private. We would really recommend this villa and this part of Crete.
excellent place to stay
Villa Allium is really well positioned, a short distance from the village of Almyrida and very peaceful. It was well equipped and the rooms quite spacious. Lovely outside dining area and beautiful pool and gardens. There are a variety of good beaches nearby and a good choice of restaurants.
Stunning, well equipped villa
Beautiful villa set in a quiet location with stunning sea and mountain views. There was plenty of space for the 6 of us. Three bathrooms meant there were no arguments amongst our 3 daughters.
The kitchen is stocked with all the crockery, glasses and utensils you could need. A nice welcome pack of bread, butter, jam, milk, juice and a bottle of wine was a godsend given that our flight was delayed and we didn't get to the villa until the early hours of Sunday morning. The fittings and furnishings are all high quality. Nice touches like high quality bluetooth speakers, satellite TV and good WiFi all add to the good impression.
The countryside round about is very pretty. There was a good beach a couple of miles away, and lovely scenic drives and walks to be had. On the other hand, if lazing by the pool is your thing this villa ticks all the boxes.
The lovely harbour and town of Chania is only about 35 minutes by car and Knossos and the other Minoan sites around Heraklion are about 2 hours away so there are plenty of choices of things to do to suit all tastes.
A car is essential. It is about a 2 mile walk down to the seaside resort of Almerida, but the walk back is all up hill which might become a little tiresome if you have to do that every day. Having a car also enables you to get out to some amazing little tavernas in villages like Gavalahori and Drapanos that offer great local cuisine at prices lower than the seafront tavernas.
We can't recommend Villa Allium highly enough. It's a real gem.
Excellent very well equipped villa in fabulous gardens.Views to die for!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The weather was great. We would unreservedly recommend the villa as it has everything you need for a great relaxing holiday. We would also recommend a car to get to the beach at Almirida as it is quite a hot walk in the summer!

Lovely villa and views are beautiful. Comfortable and well equipped villa.
Great area. Need a car to get to local tavernas etc.
Thanks, our villa is 2km from the seaside town of Almerida. It is about 25 mins walk into town or a few minutes by car. There is also a taxi rank in Almerida for anyone that does not want to walk or drive.
Fantastic villa a great hideaway at the top of the hill and great view to the sea
We spent 10 days here at the end of June, The villa is lovely, well equipped cool and spacious with enough areas for everybody to spread out, the bedrooms are nicely decorated with comfortable beds and quiet fans, all leading to outdoor patios. The view from the upstairs patio is amazing especially at sunset. I had the twin room downstairs which was lovely for me, nice and quiet, the patio doors lead out to a patio area near the pool and outside my door was a beautiful jasmine tree. The pool area is great we spent most of our time here, there are 6 comfortable sun loungers and parasols. The villa is situated at the top of a hill 1km from Almyrida which has nice tavernas (very romantic as the sun is setting)and small beaches. We did have a hire car but to be honest it only takes 20 mins to walk to the town and if need be a return taxi cost 7 euro (the walk there and back we even did with a pushchair so is do-able if your feeling fit enough) There are many tours available from the town, so plenty of options to travel around, we walked the Samaria gorge on our last day..stunning but now I need new knees haha. Driving around is easy enough once you've mastered the wrong side of the road and that most cars drive into the hard shoulder to enable overtaking, so watch your mirrors. The nearest seaside town is Kalyves a ten minute drive, well worth a visit, Chania and Georgiopolis are a 35 min drive. As a family of 6 with small children we all loved our stay and would definitely return. A big thank you to Peter and Alison for sharing their lovely home.
Our villa is the perfect place to relax away from the tourist hustle. We are set on a quiet hill top with fantastic views over olive groves, mountains and the sea. When you want to explore there is plenty to see and do.
Beaches - For a change from the pool, the beaches of Almyrida, Kalyves are very close by.
Georgioupoli area is a 30 minute drive, where you can visit Lake Kournas which is a fresh water lake which you can explore on a pedalo. Ancient Lappa (archaeological site) is very close by. The town of Georgioupoli is a little larger and has a large beach.
Chania old town is around 40 mins by car and has an impressive Venetian port - from here you can take a boat trip, explore the narrow traditional streets with its craft and souvenir shops. It has a huge selection of tavernas for when you need a rest. At Chania there is also a Go Kart track and Limnoulis Water Park both popular with families.
Inland from Chania are the Botanical Gardens of Crete,, it has many varieties of fruiting trees and plants and an excellent cafe with great views over the countryside.
Gorge Walks - you can book an excursion to walk the Samaria Gorge from Almyrida. There is also the Imbros and Aradena which are both accessible, shorter and also picturesque which you can get to by car.
Excursions - there are other excursions that can be booked from Almyrda including to Balos beach and Gramavousa which is a full day boat trip around the north east of the island.
Southern Crete - it taks about an hour to travel to the south side of the island where you can take a boat to a neighbouring town, or visit the Palm beach at Preveli.
