A fairy tale farm located in Norhern Extremadura, in the province of la Vera (7 kilometres from Jarandilla de la Vera) where prestigious Spanish landscape architect Eduardo Mencos carried out the 18th century concept of “ornamental farm” that is to say a landscaped working farm with decorative features such as arbours, antique wells, water reservoirs, ruins… in complete harmony with the surrounding natural landscape. The idea is that everything should have a practical purpose but be beautiful. You can’t see a single wire or a water deposit (they are hidden under earth). We grove organic olives, raspberries and breed merino sheep which stroll around the property of 30 hectares which include meadows, a stream, vegetable garden, orchards and woodlands (strawberry trees and oaks). Of course we have free range hens to supply fresh eggs. Solar panels produce the electricity.
The house which is partly a converted old barn measures some 500 m2 and could be described as a “eco luxury farm house” decorated with lots of French antique pieces and works of art. It could sleep 16 people but around 12 persons would be the ideal. The house is rented with maid service included. The price includes cleaning and washing and if guests wish we offer breakfasts, cooking, baby sitting etc.
