A mere breath away from Athens lies the seductive island of Kea where this comfortable house is located. Set in an elevated position, overlooking the bay of Vourkari it enjoys sea views and directly faces the sunset. A comfortable island home with all the modern concessions. The house faces the sunset and on any given summer night the bay is filled with visiting sailing and motor boats, their small lights sparkling on the still bay of Vourkari making it one of the most picturesque of island sights.
Less well known among the Greek islands of the Aegean archipelago the island of Kea is a sleepy little gem of 3,000 inhabitants full of ancient ruins, chapels, coves, tavernas and quaint harbours. In Kea's crystal blue waters lies the wreck of the Britannic, sister ship of the Titanic. It's a preferred favourite destination for diving enthusiasts. Kea is also home to a variety of hiking trails, oak tree forests and secluded beaches. The capital, Ioulida is not on the coast - a precaution against marauding pirates in less lawful times. Situated in a natural amphitheatre in the mountains, Ioulida is a vertical town of stegadi buildings which seems to have grown organically into and out of each other. Narrow alleyways run though residents' homes as the contours take them.
The house is laid out on 3 levels, with the ground level incorporating the sitting room and open plan kitchen, double doors leading to a balcony with a dining table and a sitting area and another set of double doors leading to the pool, dining table for 10, bbq and large cushioned sitting area. The upper level comprises of one double bedroom with an en suite bathroom and a large private balcony. The lower level houses the master bedroom with its own dressing room adjacent to the en suite bathroom and a further 2 bedrooms and a bathroom are also located downstairs. All 3 lower level bedrooms have French windows allowing access to the lower garden area where a trampoline is located near by.

Lara Tambacopoulou purchased this house in 2008
Ideally positioned above the beautiful bay of Vourkari, this house has all the comforts of a modern home but with the touch of real Cycladic feel to it. Build out of stone, it has all the features of an island home and privileged views across the archipelago, often the lights of the distant capital can be seen shimmering at night.
A ideally positioned and tastefully house on a largely unspoilt island. Ideal for families. Guests can also rent a boat or sailing boat and keep it in the small marina below the house.
Beautiful property which was perfect for our 2 family getaway. The owner was easily contactable prior and everything was perfect for our stay, The location was excellent with several great restaurants within walking distance. Beautiful sunset views. Kids loved the pool, play house, toys, games, trampolines etc. Can thoroughly recommend.
Our 2 families recently had a wonderful holiday at this home. Perfect for groups with a fantastic outdoor area (sunshine during the day with nice breeze in the afternoon). Fitted out with everything that you need for a fantastic holiday. If you have kids then this is the place to stay. Cubby (play) house, pool, games, toys etc. House is a stroll down a track to the lovely little village of Voukari with it's many nice restaurants. We loved our stay and if we come back to Kea this will be the house we would stay in. Thanks for having us!
The house was perfect for our family! Mona, the housekeeper was kind and welcoming and made us feel right at home. Lara had everything in the house to accommodate children. Our young children enjoyed the bedrooms, small children's table, the pool, trampoline, play house, swing and hammock. The cool sea breezes were lovely from the living room balcony and sunsets were incredible. After driving to different parts of the island for a few days, it was nice to watch a movie in the evening. My 4 and 6 year olds especially enjoyed the children's movie selection.
Having a car was a must for us. The house is on a dirt road on the side of a mountain. (Thus the amazing views) My husband and I enjoyed how quiet our surroundings were.
Thanks for providing a restful place for our family to stay on the beautiful island of Kea!
I have stayed here twice, it was perfect on each occasion. I couldn't recommend staying here enough. Easy to reach from London. I arrived in time to watch the sun set, and I was hooked. The owner has style (she used to work for Vogue) and children, so everything you could want is catered for!

Tzia (Kea) is the first of the Cycladic islands to be encountered traveling from the port of Lavrio and can be reached within an hour by ferry followed by a half hour drive from the Athens Eleftherios Venizelos Airport
This can be an ideal house for a family with children as there are various child friendly aspects to it: a big play house by the pool, a trampoline and children's toys.
There is a small boutique hotel-spa minutes away and guests can enjoy treatments either at the house or the hotel. Meals can also be ordered and brought to the house.
The small marina called Vourkari lies beneath the house and offers excellent dining options, a few shops and entertainment.
Tastefully decorated house with all modern concessions. Access to Kea is a mere 30' drive from Athens airport to the port of Lavrio, followed by an hour's ferry ride. The house is perched over Vourkari bay and has breathtaking views. Vourkari is situated 3 km away from the main port and hosts the island's marina which is a famous stop over for beautiful yachts and is the centre of the island's night life. Some of the best tavernas, bars and shops are located on this bay. The sun sets across the house and the lights from the boats visiting mooring there are sparkling on the bay each summer night making it one of the most picturesque Cycladic island sights, a view to be enjoyed from all angles of the house. Vourkari is 5 minutes away by car from the house and 3 minutes by foot via a pedestrian path that connects the little harbour with the house. The closest beach is Otzias which is only 2 kilometres away and several beaches can be reached by car within 15-30 minutes.
