About Yves Lavaud

Specialist doctor settled in a French overseas territory, I love many things. Travelling, sport, music, wine and gastronomy, decoration and art in general but more particularly contemporary art are activities that I try to share with my family and particularly with my children who live all around the world.

This house, where I grew up, is the centre of our meetings to enjoy life in family with its relaxation, fits of laughter, secrets, strolls around and in the village and all the pleasures of daily life too rarely enjoyed together.

Yves Lavaud purchased this house in 1960

Why Yves Lavaud chose Lourmarin

I inherited it from my parents who had designed it with love and it is very rarely inhabited because of the professional activities and the dispersion of the family.

This house had to be lively all year round and the attraction of the region and the property allowed it.

So, 3 years ago when my mother died, I decided to renovate it, to extend it and to provide it with all modern conveniences so that me and my big family can spend quality time in a naturally quality setting.

The idea of sharing this very privileged place and offer these spaces (that have been designed and matured with the patina of time) to people wanting to stay here, emerged and developed.

With and architect and a decorator, we fitted the buildings to extract the quintessence and to preserve the charm of the old stones by adding contemporary materials and technology.

Thanks to the building of the fully integrated pool adjacent to the structure, in summer, you can enjoy this area without limits that creates a harmony but that also gives the opportunity to have privacy if you want.

The all year round employed gardener, pool technician, cleaning ladies and manager who coordinates the permanent improvement works and who takes care of the reception and concerns of the holiday-makers during their stay offer high quality and constant level of services all year round.

In this way, the money we collect thanks to the rental gives us the opportunity to maintain and improve the property every season and to have a well-maintained property no matter the period.

What a joy for me to stay here for a weekend inside the comfort and habits of these walls where I grew up and to enjoy the assets of the village.

What makes this house unique

1) Without a doubt, the hidden secluded location close to the village with views of the village and the château. This house is set against a natural rocky wall immersed in nature. Get your newspaper on foot or by bike, have a coffee at the village, go shopping and see all these Pagnolesque people who make transform life in Lourmarin a true privilege (forget the car and live quietly).

2) The design, comfort and functionality of the house are the second asset that I am not going to explain out of modesty and to keep the surprise.

3) Finally, the village of Lourmarin which reputation is already made with its conferences, concerts, libraries, château, markets, restaurants, bars and the many activities organised by the inhabitants and its representatives who want to perpetuate a tradition of politeness and conviviality make this village one of the most sough-after villages of Provence.

Fantastic house !

The house is really spacious, very well located and easy to access. This is a beautiful house in a lovely area. It has a very nice swimming pool area surrounded by lush gardens. The house is extremely well equipped throughout and the owners seem to have thought of everything. The house is just perfect, it has everything and is very clean. It was a perfect week spent around the pool, the pizza oven and the home cinema for kids! Farmers' market on Fridays was a treat. We have enjoyed making dinner using the house's kitchen which is extremely well equipped. Definitely worth repeating!

You felt as if you were staying in your own home rather than a rental property. The owners are very helpful and approachable.

Super séjour à Lourmarin!

Séjour de rêve dans cette villa de vacances!

Tout est là pour plaire: piscine, four à pizza, rétroprojecteur... La maison est spacieuse et très bien décorée!

En couple, en famille, avec des amis toutes les occasions se prêtent pour cette maison! C'est aussi l'occasion de se promener dans la charmante ville de Lourmarin.

Nous reviendrons avec grand plaisir!

We are 55 km from Marseille and 20 km from Aix-en-Provence. From Marseille, take the motorway towards Aix-en-Provence, then the N296 road towards Celoni and then D7N towards Avignon. 7 km away, turn right on the D543 road towards Rognes Apt, after the small lake turn right on the D561 road and 100 m away turn left on the D974 road towards Cadenet Apt.

The village of Lourmarin is 4 km after Cadenet

Provence is a region with a great agricultural tradition and the fields and orchards that surround us produce abundant fruits and vegetables which big part is exported everywhere in Europe. You also find different traditional products such as truffles, goat cheeses, honey and of course all the Mediterranean products. Close to Lourmarin, you can go to the market of Cadenet on Monday, to Cucuron or to the Tour d’Aigues on Tuesday, to Robion on Thursday, to Lourmarin on Friday, to the famous market of Apt on Saturday and to the one in Isle-sur-la-Sorgue. Within less than 1 h, you can visit Avignon and the Palais des Papes, Aix-en-Provence, the beautiful Southern town and birthplace of Paul Cézanne with its chic boutiques and shaded terraces or Arles, the Roman city with its amphitheatre and its Gothic cathedral where everything reminds us of Van Gogh.

Not far away, you can visit Isle-sur-la-Sorgue and its antique market that is known worldwide and the wine-growing estates of the Côtes-du-Rhône, Gigondas, Vacqueyras and Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Further is the Camargue, a wild landscape with marshes, rice fields, reed, its bull and horse farming and above all, its ornithological fauna that is unique in Europe. Lourmarin is a village that attracts visitors from all over the world thanks to its harmonious atmosphere and its sophisticated side that preserves the charm and beauty of a small Provencal village. Since the period of Albert Camus who has lived and has been buried here, it is a holiday village for many artists and writers.
