The villa is situated on the hillside above Kalkan and is accessed down from the car park by steps. To walk down to the town takes about 15 to 20 minutes.

Due to the incline it is not suitable for the elderly or infirm. It is usual to take a taxi or car when returning to the villa.

ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITES: The important sites of Tlos,Xanthos and Patara are all close by

Patara is an old established Lycian city held by Alexander the Great in 334 B.C. It’s earlier fame was as the site of the oracle of Apollo. It retained its influence during the Hellenistic period as a commercial and naval base. When it came under Egyptian dominance the name was changed to Arsinoe, but that name not being very popular it soon reverted to its former name.

When Brutus ravaged this area of Lycia, and after destroying Xanthos, the citizens of Patara refused to surrender at once but eventually they did, no one being killed on the surrender of their gold to Brutus. Under Roman domination Patara became one of the leading ports in the region and continued to be so into Byzantine times. The movement of sand into the harbour hastened the closure of the harbour and also covered the remains of the city which is now being excavated,

the parliament building is now completed and it is a must to see

WATER SUPPLY: due to interruptions to water supply between the present water source at Saklikent and the distribution pipework at Kalkan, we have a reserve water tank installed, this is fully automatic and operates when water pressure is low or the service is cut. you may not be aware of water cuts as the pressure remains almost the same and the reserve is replenished as the supply is restored. The capacity is sufficient for several weeks normal usage.

Not all properties have this facility but it can make a difference to the quality of your stay.

Why Rob chose Lycian & Turquoise Coast

The Sunday Times during March 2015 featured Villa Anna in

"Getaways of the Week" describing the villa as" sitting over Kalkan bay in the Kiziltas district - a location perennially popular with the British, drawn to its private hillside villas- this 3 bedroom, 3 bathroom air conditioned house is within walking distance of shops and restaurants has terraces and balconies on all 3 floors and a pool, with sea and mountain views. A recent bonus is BA's summer flights to Dalaman airport which serves Kalkan."

'

What makes this villa unique

The villa is situated above the marina and has unrivalled views over Kalkan bay and of the Taurus mountains. Guests have reported seeing dolphins in the bay and eagles and buzzards drawing lazy circles in the skies above.

the harbour is a frequent stopover for super yachts and you never know who you will see in town.

WE KNOW THAT WHEN YOU ARRIVE AT THE AIRPORT ALL THE FAMILY WANT TO DO IS TO GET TO THE VILLA AND TRY THE POOL. WITH THIS IN MIND WE HAVE INCLUDED PRIVATE TRANSFERS DIRECT FROM THE AIRPORT TO THE VILLA FOR ALL 2 WEEK BOOKINGS.

NO WAITING FOR BUSES, NO UNCERTAINTY ABOUT TAXIS OR COACHES, YOU WILL BE MET OUTSIDE THE ARRIVALS HALL BY YOUR DRIVER .

ONCE LOADED HE WILL SUPPLY COLD DRINKS AND TOWELS AND GET YOU SWIFTLY TO YOUR HOLIDAY HOME TO MAKE THE MOST OF YOUR STAY IN KALKAN.

Good views, well equipped villa, nice resort.

  • 5 of 5

We stayed with friends who had been before and the villa was better this time than they remembered. It's very modern with good quality equipment and fittings, beds were comfortable and the views amazing.it was really nice to sit out and relax around the pool and then to eat on the terrace in the evening, the lighting outside made the days last till midnight. Would visit again.

Magical Kalkan

  • 5 of 5

Villa Anna was a fantastic base to explore the amazing town of Kalkan, being situated in the hills gave it some majestic views over the bay. But within a 15min walk downhill through the little streets you were in the Old Town with it's numerous local restaurants and bars, all equally as good as the next. We couldn't recommend Villa Anna highly enough, it's well equipped, spacious, quiet, with a pool and view that will live long in our memory. Kalkan as a town is different to anywhere else we've been around the Med, full of great little family run businesses all going out of their way to make your visit extra special. We are already trying to squeeze in another trip there this year!!!

Lovely, spacious villa with fabulous views

  • 5 of 5

Villa Anna was lovely and spacious with absolutely stunning views overlooking Kalkan. We particularly enjoyed the pool and terrace, where we spent many relaxing evenings watching the sunset.

There are plenty of great restaurants in Kalkan - in fact, you are spoilt for choice. The locals are so friendly and love children. It takes about 20 minutes to walk into Kalkan from the villa.

We did hire a car and visited Patara and Kaputas beaches, both of which are only a 10 min drive from Kalkan. We also went to Saklikent Gorge and Tlos, which are definitely worth a visit and went on a boat trip to the sunken village of Kekova. We also hired a private boat for the day, visiting Mouse and Snake islands and saw turtles. We had such a fantastic relaxing holiday. Thank you Rob and Ann

What a view!

  • 5 of 5

Myself, my husband and two friends have just returned from a fantastic two weeks in Villa Anna. We arrived by transfer with Bravetours as recommended by Bob and they were fantastic, providing us with chilled water, wet wipes to freshen up and a gift of a Turkish towel for the ladies. As it was dark when we arrived we didn't get to see the absolutely breathtaking views until the following morning. Well, it was certainly worth waiting for - what a view! We never got tired of looking at it.

The villa certainly lived up to all expectations. Clean, spacious and very well equipped. Most of our holiday was spent lying around the lovely pool on very comfortable sun beds.

We did venture out down into the town but mostly opted for taxis both ways rather than walk. Taxi driver Mustafa and his father Yusuf were very reliable and so friendly. We started and ended each evening with a pre-dinner / post dinner drink at Bezirgan's (Omar's Bar) opposite the taxi rank. We went to numerous restaurants during our stay including Sofra, Trio, Coast, Baharat. Our favourites though were Sade, Mousakka and Touch Bistro. We visited Sade twice as it was so nice but would recommend booking beforehand. Touch Bistro is wonderful for a light lunch and the staff just lovely.

We all had a wonderful two weeks in Kalkan and Villa Anna and would definitely recommend it. This was our first visit to Turkey but certainly won't be our last.

Fabulous Holiady Villa

  • 5 of 5

We spent 2 wonderful weeks in Villa Anna. The property and the area surrounding it, are every bit as lovely as the photos. We hired a car for the whole 2 weeks and that enabled us to explore the beautiful beaches and the many ruins that the region has to offer.

Kalkan is a lovely town- we were made to feel extremely welcome by the locals and we were spoilt for choice for restaurants.

We would definitely recommend Villa Anna, we were very sad to leave.

Car: not necessary

A small peaceful Mediterranean resort on the beautiful Turquoise Coast of Turkey, Kalkan has not been touched by mass tourism. More sophisticated than the usual resort town, Kalkan appeals to travellers looking for more than a 'sun and sea' holiday. According to the Sunday Times, Kalkan attracts the kind of visitor who would also enjoy Tuscany or the Dordogne. The Guardian likens the town to 'the Italian Riviera minus the poseurs.' Because of its great charm, Kalkan has a growing number of perennial visitors who say the town is the only holiday destination they would choose to visit repeatedly. There is simply no other town quite like Kalkan along Turkey's coast. Not only is Kalkan beautiful, but unlike other Turkish coastal resort towns Kalkan's main economy is tourism and therefore its citizens put much pride and effort into the town's historic preservation. Because of this, Kalkan has retained the texture of its history by protecting its distinctive Ottoman Greek architecture (it was once an Ottoman Greek and Turkish commercial port). Very strict building codes keep the town small and architecturally blended with the historic heart of the town known as 'Old Kalkan'.Here you will find narrow streets with whitewashed houses, shops and small cafes. The shops are a delight with good local crafts and designer wear and of course the distinctive jewellery this coast is reknowned for. Besides the famous 'Kalkan Style' historic architecture, the many excellent restaurants of Kalkan contribute to the special atmosphere within Kalkan. Good dining has always been the way of life in Kalkan and continues today. Kalkan is especially renowned for its numerous roof terrace restaurants and bars which offer a wonderful view of the town, sea and stars. It's also nice to sit at one of the many fine harbour-side restaurants and watch the pleasure boats and fishermen leave early in the morning as you eat your breakfast, or see the fishing boats return with the day's catch in the evening. There is lots to do during the day and nightlife is fun, but laid-back. You won't find noisy, wild nightlife here, unlike some other coastal resorts. The people of Kalkan warmly welcome you, and you may at first be surprised by the universal friendliness within the town. This, along with warm Turkish hospitality is the basis of life here and the people of Kalkan sincerely enjoy getting to know their guests. So don't hesitate to accept one of the many tulip-shaped glasses of çay (tea) you will be offered while you amble along Kalkan's winding streets. You won't be hassled while you are a guest in Kalkan - the town is hassle-free and is proud to be so.

From Kalkan you can visit Patara beach and the restoration of the Roman parliament building nearby , Saklikent gorge, Roman ruins at Xanthos, Kaputas beach and the towns of Fethiye and Kas, all accessible by local bus or local taxi from the villa.

There is a shingle beach in Kalkan with sunbeds and parasols for hire. There are several cafes nearby and boat trips with lunch included can be booked from the harbour.

the beach has received blue flag status , so you can be sure it is both clean and safe
