Lovely cottage in a beautiful setting

  • 5 of 5

It was just two of us in the property and you can see it would be a fantastic place for a group too. The setting is just beautiful, you are surrounded by stunning scenery. The house is very clean and comfortable. About 25 minutes from Roundstone where you can find lovely restaurants. We also explored Galway, Clifden, caught the ferry from Cleggin Pier to Inishboffin island. The owners were really friendly and ever so relaxed. We booked last minute and told them roughly when we would arrive and that was it. It has all the facilities you'd need (they instruct you how to purchase an internet voucher which threw us at first but easy to sort out).

I'd highly recommend this peaceful cottage!

Very special house in a very special location

  • 5 of 5

The first thing that strikes you when arriving at the house is the amazing location; it is situated right on the bay with an unobstructed panoramic view across the bay and beyond. As well as being a very attractive property, the house was beautifully clean, very well presented and well equipped. It is a spacious house and comfortably accommodated the 4 adults and 5 children in our party. The kitchen and bathrooms are modern, spotless and very well appointed, and the bedrooms were comfortable and clean. The owners, John and Mairead, were very hospitable and went out of their way to make us feel welcome and our stay enjoyable - John even gave up his time to take us out to (try and) catch mackeral for our planned barbecue - though the outcome of the trip was that we found you could buy great steaks from the shop in Carna! They thoughtfully provided extra local advice and even a baby bath for our seven month old baby in addition to the cot and highchair.

The nearby beaches were great and together with crabbing in the little harbour next to the house there was plenty to keep the kids (and adults!) entertained during the day. Trips to the National Park visitor centre (where there are a range of walks to suit all levels of fitness as well as a great playground) and Kylemore Abbey also made good excursions. At night there was no need for the TV as the bay provided ever-changing views and the local seals provided added entertainment! It was our first trip to Connemara but we are determined it will not be our last.

Une position idéale pour visiter le Connemara

  • 5 of 5

Warm house, living room with sofas in front of the sea, relaxing atmosphere.

Ideal location to visit the Connemara. At your arrival, count 3h driving calmly from Shannon airport to the house. The itinerary is easy, and John provides convenient information.

John and Maireed take care of their guests, discreet but efficient, one can talk about everything! We were 9 persons but only 8 beds when we arrived; in a few minutes they brought a supplementary bed!! Given that we arrived late, around 11 pm, their welcome was remarkable.

We keep marvellous memories from this place, of mussels and mackerels fished and offered by John, of the quietness of the house, of the evening shared together... Thank you so much :)

We recommend this house without hesitation. Besides, its price is much more cheaper than lot of other houses!

  • 5 of 5
