The sense of height and the views from here are very nice.

BATHROOMS - Choose to soak your troubles away in the antique claw tub (cabin salts are provided) or clean up with great water pressure in the upstairs shower. BE AMUSED while you wash your hands and brush your teeth in these most unique sinks!

OUTDOORS ON THE PROPERTY - Spend a special day exploring The Little River (the largest tributary to the NEW RIVER). You can jump and play in it. You can paint it, write it, photograph it or can fly & cast for Brown, Brook & Rainbow Trout, & Black Bass. There are Sculpin and also the Kanawha and Sharpnose Darters! You'll be amazed at Mother Nature's Appalachian habitats, animals and a huge variety of plant life by taking a WALK IN the river or up the hillside road. You may catch a view of white tailed deer, turkey, blue river heron, red tailed hawks, red squirrel, coyote, the downstream beaver, fox and even a local cow.

Bring your old shoes to do the childhood adventure of a 'Creek Walk'. Flip those flat rocks along the babbling creek and be pleasantly surprised at the salamanders or crawfish! Be so still to watch deer drinking from the delicate flowing waters.

Kick back later in the Soaring Rock Fireplace porch for your evening fire. Make S'mores or a pie or simply play cards then cuddle up together while watching the flickering flames.

About joann simon

I purchased Cabin Solitude in 2003 as a weekend retreat to "get away from it all". Myself and my two daughters have some of our best memories joined around the fire place and playing in the river. We still love to spend time here and hope you enjoy the sights and sounds of 'Solitude', too!!

Beautful North Carolina Cabin

  • 5 of 5

My husband I stayed at the ‘Blue Ridge Mountain Solitude Cabin’ May 20-23. The setting is gorgeous, with the Little River just down the hill. Unfortunately we stayed during mostly heavy rains and chilly weather so we weren’t able to be outside much. The wonderful rock patio with its fireplace is covered and cozy and we built a fire and had a glass of wine out there while listening to the relaxing sound of the water.

Joann is wonderful to work with, went out of her way for us under some special circumstances and left a personalized welcome and a bottle of wine for my husband and myself.

The cabin is so charming with a rustic feel. I loved the adorable kitchen and the view out the many large windows. One evening I was able to take a soak in the claw foot tub, which came with bath salts and scented soap….it was perfection!

Joann has created a cabin that invokes peace and tranquility. I thank her for sharing that with us.

Total Relaxation

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I loved the solitude of this cabin. When we first saw the cabin and the surrounding river we new we found the place we wanted to be to spend our weekend together. The outside fireplace was a real bonus and we stayed warm while enjoying a nice glass of wine and talking. If solitude is what your looking for you found it with this cabin.

River fun and solitude all in one!!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Solitude over the 4th of July, so we could be near our beloved Camp Cheerio for their Independence day celebration. What a gorgeous place!! My children had a ball playing on the river while my husband and I watched from the porch, enjoying the outdoor fireplace. That fireplace really made our visit!! The cabin was gorgeous and super clean. My kids loved finding the art supplies, toys, and games stocked in the cabin. I loved the fact that there we no neighbors or traffic sounds- just the rushing of the creek! Joann was lovely to work with, and I have already recommended the cabin to a friend!

Spectacular setting and wonderful cabin

  • 5 of 5

After dropping our daughter off at Camp Cheerio, my wife and I spent 4 days at the wonderful little cabin ' Solitude". We have stayed at many places in the NC mountains and this was by far the most romantic, beautiful, and serene cabin we have found. The setting on the Little River is spectacular, we spent long hours just sitting in the river. The cabin surpassed our expectations and the porch overlooking the river with the fireplace was our favorite place to eat, read, and watch the thousands of fireflys that came out every night over the field and woods next to the house. I would absolutely recommend this property to friends and we plan to stay here next year. We hiked to the top of Stone Mountain and along the Mountain to Sea Trail. This is an undiscovered part of the NC mountains. FYI to ATT subscribers, there is no phone service in this area except on top of Stone Mtn., its worth the hike.
