Why Host chose Ciutat Vella

From the moment I walked in the Barrio del Born 20 years ago and it was not even a shadow of what it is today, I noticed a special atmosphere walking along the Paseo del Born, it was early spring, with a gentle breeze, the trees just green and all these streets with names of artisans, made me fall in love with the area and was really thinking in 1500 when each craftsman had his street.

Museo Picasso himself apart the magnificent works of the painter, its buildings will bring to mind those times. Now everything has changed but the streets are still fantastic.

A medieval but with all the appeal of boutiques, restaurants, tapas, cocktelerias and especially the cosmopolitan atmosphere of a city like Barcelona, where nobody is going to sleep before 12 pm neighborhood.

The best place to stay in Barcelona!

  • 5 of 5

This literally is the best place to stay. Walking distance to every where you probably want to go. Below the apartment there is a great store to get Iberian ham, cheese and wine. A bakery is another short walk and you can have a great dinner on one of the balconies. When we come back to Barcelona, I hope this place is still available.

Great location and cute flat with gorgeous terrace

  • 4 of 5

This property was fantastic, great view and location. We really enjoyed our stay. We didn't have any extra pillows however for the sofa bed, and downstairs did tend to get a bit hot, and i think the towels could do with some replacing, but other than that it was great. The property fit my partner and i and two small children. It was a snug fit but the kids enjoyed themselves too. We really enjoyed the terrace after a day of shopping. A transfer was organised for us by the lovely man who checked us in, and I would stay here again.

What an incredible city for art and history and incredible food. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit .

  • 5 of 5

The apartment is situated in the fantastic neighborhood of Born, convenient to everything. Flavia was sweet and helpful. Everything in the apartment functioned well and the outdoor space was relaxing. So close to Santa Maria Del Mar that you could get credit for attending mass by sitting on the deck 🙂.

Great apartment in a wonderful location in Barcelona.

  • 5 of 5

We spent 4 nights at Flavia's apartment and it was great. Flavia was there to greet us and show us everything in the well stocked apartment. In our opinion it is the best neighborhood to stay in Barcelona with lots of narrow alleyways, restaurants and boutiques. We loved our stay and would recommend this apartment to anyone. Thank you Flavia!

Perfect location in Barcelona

  • 5 of 5

Flavia's apartment is wonderfully located by the Basilica in the gothic quarter. The two outdoor porches in good weather are great places to sit. The kitchen is very efficient. The loft bedroom is delightful.. it was a pleasure to wake up here and return here each day we stayed..

Construction noise, no internet, ACCUSED OF STEALING plastic internet information card

  • 1 of 5

We just returned from an unacceptable stay at this apt from February 4-8.

Day 1- We arrived on Saturday eve and met Lucas at the apt. All went smoothly. He gave us a quick overview and asked when we would leave on 2/8 so he could have the maid arrive a half hour after we checked out. He also told us there was a construction project going on next door, which was VERY disappointing news. We had plans to sleep in, recharge our batteries and make full use of the terraces during our stay. Not being warned of this prior to arrival was disheartening to say the least. We then checked the internet. No connection, which is a big problem for us. We sent a text about the wifi to Lucas but no response. An ominous start.

Day 2- Still no wifi. There are notes in the apartment to call Flavia if you need something so we forwarded the text to her. Also no response. On the way out of the apt we had a mishap with the window blinds and we were of course mortified. At this point we called Flavia to let her know, to apologize and to assure her we would pay to have them fixed. She didn't answer and there was no way to leave a voicemail. We then called Lucas and fortunately he answered and said he would have them fixed tomorrow. Whew!

Day 3- Monday morning and the loud noise begins, 7:45 AM. It doesn't stop. Still no wifi. We leave the apt and contact Lucas to find out the plan for the blinds. He texts us later to say they are fixed. Hurrah! We return to the noisy apt to find the blinds fixed, the internet card gone and the modem turned upside-down. This made us happy since we assumed Lucas was trying to fix the wifi problem when he let the worker into the apt to fix the blinds.

Day 4- Construction noise again at 7:45. No wifi. No word from Lucas or Flavia. All plans of sleeping in and/or relaxing on the terrace with wifi gone.

Day 5- More noise. No wifi for the whole stay. No word from Flavia about the internet, the noise, nothing.

We checked out of the apt, happy to depart. We left the place in great condition but did leave two small bags of garbage inside the front door, knowing the maid would be there within 30 minutes.

On 2/14 I received an insulting email from Flavia accusing us of breaking the blinds (well yes, which we paid for and tried to apologize for), of STEALING the internet card (definition of insult to injury), and making a huge deal over the two small bags of garbage left at departure. We paid a lot of money to be so insulted. Garbage indeed.

Owner's Response: Dear guest In first place, I would like to apologize for the missing internet information card. There was a misunderstanding between the cleaning lady and myself. At the same time, please consider I've been involved in short term apartment rentals for almost a decade, hosting hundreds of guests. I even had lamps stolen! Again, im sorry for the misunderstanding in this regard. In regards to the construction noise, it wouldn't have occurred on the first 2 days of your stay since it was during a weekend. Im sorry if there was noise during the remaining 3 days but we were informed by the building next to ours, the construction work had been completed in mid January. I've had the apartment occupied since then and unfortunately you were the only guests that had this issue. When it comes to contacting me, I can categorically say I had never received any texts nor phone calls from you during the days of your stay. We are in 2017, and if "there was no way to leave a message" is because you were not dialing the number correctly. I receive texts and voicemail on a daily basis from numerous people. If Lucas doesn't answer his phone, I ALWAYS receive a phone call from my guests. Guaranteed. In regards to my email from February 14th, I do not see how I insulted you. I did not "accuse you of breaking the blinds". All I said was: "when the technician came to see the kitchen blind, informed that has been manipulated. Lucas said that showed you how to open and how to close". No need to accuse anyone, especially when they have admitted the fact. Your comment " making a huge deal over the two small bags of garbage left at departure", i find it extremely exaggerated, since all I said was "You left the apartment with rubish when it is written everywhere that rubish must be taken away". That's simply a reminder of the rules to our guests when they dont follow them. I'm sorry you found your stay horrible but there is no need to offend me by referring to my lovely apartment as "rubbish". Just want to point out that you never offer to pay the blinds, I was compelled to make you pay them with the security deposit. Sincerely, Enviado desde mi iPhone

Spending your vacation in this apartment, you will be in the heart of Medieval Barcelona life with people walking up and down anytime day and night but with the security that you can relax and sleep like an angel as the apartment bedroom is in the back of the building and you will not hear any noise. Just you will have during the day the Santa Maria Cathedral bells that really makes you feel you are in a XV century old town.
