About the property

The rural property, Casa Andorinha , sits in a landscaped garden and is completely fenced and gated. The Casa has been renovated, but the original charm of the typically Portuguese Quinta has been preserved. If you stay more than one week, extra cleaning is included. Beach towels are also available.

It is an excellent starting point for wonderful walks through the hinterland and trips to the beach and Ria Formosa Natural Park. Although you are surrounded by nature, everything important is in the area. The small village of Estiramantens (café and mini-market) is very close by. Come and watch the sun set over the nearby hills while you listen to the little Owls!

Good family house

Well maintained house with a lovely pool. House and gardens are completely enclosed, so very safe for children, also has electric gates. Local cafe is only a few minutes walk away. The owner, Joao, does not speak much English but he is very friendly! A car is essential, the airport is only about 40 minutes away, local shops about 5 minutes drive. Big shopping centre in Tavira is about 20 minutes away.

House has everything you need, excellent kitchen, it's a lot more spacious inside than you would assume from the outside pictures.

All round, a very nice place to stay.

The Eastern Algarve is still a pleasant 'non-touristy' and authentic recreational area.

Moncarapacho has a number of nice restaurants and Antonio's also has an internet cafe. There are several small supermarkets, banks/cash machines, a pharmacy and other shops. Further afield, Olhão has lots of shops, restaurants and a large fruit/veg and fish market and here you can also take a ferry to the outer islands. Tavira has a more historic feel with lots of old houses, but comes alive in the evening with its many bars and restaurants. You can also catch a ferry to the Isla de Tavira from here. The Camera Obscura in the old water tower gives you a completely different view of the town. For golfers, Benamor is 20 minutes away with Quinta da Cima and Quinta da Ria a further 10 minutes away while the courses at Vilamoura and Quinta do Lago/Vale do Lobo are 45 minutes away. For nature lovers, the Ria Formosa reserve is just east of Olhão with another reserve at Castro Marim near the Spanish border.

Additional guests (7 to 10) charged at 50 euros/person/week. Parking is plentiful. The house is ideal for families with children. Casa Andorinha has a non-smoking policy.

There is an information book in the villa that will be useful for planning your outings and find your way in the Algarve. During your stay, our representative is on call for emergencies.
