Casa Bella Vista is a typical Ligurian House with stunning sea views .The village of Manarola is situated within the unique landscape of the Cinque Terre National Park. The property has been renovated to a high standard to include WiFi, and accommodation is provided over four floors with the additional benefit of a roof terrace. The ground floor entrance leads to a living and dining area with fully equipped kitchen, with an additional kitchen on the 3rd floor providing access for dining on the roof terrace. Bathrooms are situated on the 1st and 2nd floor, and each include a shower, toilet and bidet. The bedroom on the 1st floor has two single beds, the bedroom on the 2nd floor has a double bed, and a double sofa-bed is available on the 3rd floor. Cars are not permitted to drive into the village, however a public carpark is available. The property is a five minute walk up a steep hill from the centre of the village, and is therefore not ideal for very young children or the infirm.

Getting to Manarola: The most convenient airports for the Cinque Terre are Pisa, Genova (Genoa), and Parma. Travel from the airport to Manarola is best by train, as vehicles are not permitted in the village however parking is available at the top of the village.

Local facilities : Manarola has several excellent restaurants and bars, two pizzerias, a gelateria, juice bar and a cash machine. As a working village, it also has two small supermarkets and a pharmacy together with a selection of shops selling locally made gifts and produce.

Out and about: The best way to discover the Cinque Terre is on foot, along the many paths through terraced vineyards and olive groves giving spectacular views of the sea. The five villages of the Cinque Terre, Riomaggiore, Manarola, Corniglia, Vernazza, and Monterosso each have their own unique identity, and a wealth of history to explore.

Further afield, La Spezia is the largest town in the area, and is reached easily by a 10 minute train journey. Portofino and Portovenere are good destinations for a day out by boat direct from the small harbour in Manarola.

A washing machine, an indoor drying line, iron and ironing board are located on the 3rd floor. Table, chairs and deckchairs are provided for use on the roof terrace. What an amazing house - will definitely be returning!

My family and I had the best time in this rustic and beautiful Italian terrace house. I loved the cave feature of the downstairs living room and the authentic pizza oven in the upstairs kitchen. By far my favourite feature of the house has to be the views seen from the balcony!! The property was incredibly clean and equipt with everything needed. Loved it!!

Marginal accommodations

I was very disappointed in how uncomfortable the beds and pillows were and the mold on the shower curtains was gross. There was not a tissue or a bar of soap in the bathrooms and we ran out of toilet paper. The management company was happy to give it to us to lug around versus dropping it off. And the hair dryer doesn't pull in anywhere.

A great location to experience life in Cinque Terre

The location was wonderful with a nice view of the water. The amenities were nice. The only negative was it wasn't as clean as we would like and may have some mold issues in the house.

Older rustic property at top of Manarola

Old multi-level property at top of Manarola. Great communication with Jo Kidd re property.Manarola has no real porter service, but luckily for us, we were able to get assistance from management company with two of our larger bags to property from train station at a reasonable cost as it's all uphill. Upon entering home, noticed a strong musty smell, lack of air circulation, with agent saying "no one uses the first floor" guiding us to four upper levels. First floor only has a small window, so musty smell and stagnant air was always present unless you leave main door open which really is not an option. Other upper level rooms have large full windows with shutters that can be opened for air circulation. No A/C at all, we knew that, but decided to give it a try. Spent 3 nights a bit uncomfortable with an oscillating fan in each of the bedrooms running all night. Temperatures ranged around 80 degrees with slight breeze at time. Think it would be an issue in August, or if no breeze/higher temperatures, unless you are fine without A/C. Full two bedrooms and showers on two separate floors with a full useable kitchen on 4th floor. 5th floor allows access to a large terrace that has many chairs available and a table, with spectacular views over the harbor and down the coast. Access is through a large side window (not a door) access which requires you to bend down leaning yourself out onto terrace. View is why I gave property 3 stars instead of 2 stars. Note Jo Kidd owner responded quickly to our concern that we found property was not cleaned well on our arrival, and second cleaning lady coming during our stay to tidy up. Property management company claimed that they had a lot of cleanings when we checked in so, so quality might have been less that expected. In any case, we left a night earlier than anticipated, had booked 4 nights, but only stayed 3 nights.

For those that have difficulty walking uphill, have overpacked, or require a/c, this is not the home for you. If you are an outdoor type of group, enjoy property as it does have spectacular views from terrace!

Wonderful property in a brilliant location in the best of the five towns

Loved everything about this property. It is a beautiful location with stunning views and very comfortable. Jo is great to deal with. Highly recommended. There are a few low clearances in the house, but I am 6'5" and dealt with it just fine. Jo has managed this well.

Wow. Simply stunning

We agree with Nicole M's review below 100%.

Our family has loved Manarola and has felt very privileged to have stayed in this wonderful home. A lot of care and attention has been put into this wonderful property and it is beautifully done. The main bathroom is superb, the main bedroom is wonderful, with very comfortable bed and lovely large window for views and ventilation. I have had the best sleeps here - better than anywhere in Europe.

Our children (aged 15 to 7, there are 4 of them) have loved Mararola as well because of this house and its location. It is a short skip down the the Main Street and it is very safe.

Amazingly, for a cliff top property, there is not a single step that you need to climb to access the property from the railway station. If you have bags on wheels, it is very easy to get bags from the station and through the tunnel into Mararola. From the agent, it is a ramped walkway to the property. Sure, some of it is steep, but no steps.

We have been very pleased with the property and our choice of Manarola to base ourselves during our five days in Cinque Terra. It is the most amazing place in this world and as others have commented, you cannot beat this place for beautiful hiking, sensational wine and food, and the roof top terrace is one of our favourite places in the world.

I am 6'5" tall. There are some low clearance areas, but Jo has done this very well and it has no impacted our stay at all. If fact, quite the opposite. The adventure has been great.

Thanks Jo for letting us stay in your wondeful property. We hope to be back someday.

The unique landscape of the Cinque Terre (the five lands) was listed by UNESCO in 1998 as a World Heritage Site. The National Park now protects the landscape and encourages conservation of the dry stone walls built to cultivate vineyards on the steep terraces that slope down to the sea. The crystal clear waters of the Cinque Terre were made a Marine Protected Area in 1997 to protect the rocky seabed, the habitat of a diverse range of coral. The village of Manarola dates back to the 12th century, and the area remains famous for its white wine, pesto and anchovies. As vehicles are not permitted in Manarola, travel to and within the Cinque Terre is best by train, boat or by foot. The purchase of a Cinque Terre Card issued by the National Park enables unlimited use of the trains, buses and paths within the area. The best beaches are at Monterosso and Bonassola which are reached easily from Manarola. However, it is possible to swim off the rocks in Manarola.

My management company that are also based in Manarola, will meet and greet you and show you around the property. They can provide you with information on the local area along with arranging scenic flights, guided hikes, sailing, cookery lessons and a visit to a vineyard.
