About Jessica Dennis

We are the Dennis Family and we're the proud owners of Baileys on the Rocks Cottages. We're a young family of four that loves to travel and feels at home on the water. We love the energy and excitement of summers in Door County and the peace and quiet of the pristine winters. We're passionate about sharing this little treasure of Wisconsin with our guests.

Jessica Dennis purchased this cottage in 2014

Why Jessica Dennis chose Door County

We purchased this property from a family friend who had owned it for almost a decade. She loved this cottage and cared for it like she would her own home. After spending some time in Baileys Harbor in the winter of 2013 we knew we had found a place we loved. The decision to purchase the cottage was an easy one and we've never looked back. We have many repeat guests and we always welcome new visitors. We love hearing the stories of travelers and what brings them to Door County. We always hope they love it as much as we do.

What makes this cottage unique

We truly have something for everyone. If you're looking for a cozy, older character cottage, Rockledge is a great option for you. The cottage is right across the street from Lake Michigan and centrally located in the Door Peninsula. It is surrounded by the most magnificent trees growing right out of rock and provide peace and quiet that's hard to match anywhere else.

Have stayed at Rockledge multiple times. It is a comfortable cozy spot to spend time in while you are in Door County. It is very welcoming and home like.

Perfect Location, Clean and Updated Cottage

  • 5 of 5

The cottage was perfect for my husband and I on our recent weekend stay. We loved the location, just close enough to downtown to walk to restaurants and the lake front. The screened in porch is a great place for morning coffee. The lake view is limited but still nice to have. We didn't use the fireplace but it is a nice feature for those chilly days!

Treasure

  • 5 of 5

Second stay this year. Lovely setting, walking distance to town. We have come as a family to Door County for 35+ years and Bailey's Harbor has been our base of operations but it took us til this year to find this gem. Thank you.

cute cottage great for a family of four, great location in the center of Door County

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time staying at the Rockledge Cottage. It was a perfect size for our family of four and Bailey's Harbor was a cute town in a central location to everything we wanted to do. The porch was great for eating breakfast and the kitchen was well-stacked with equipment for making dinner. I highly recommend it!

Cozy Cottage near to everything important

  • 4 of 5

The cottage was clean, comfortable and very convenient. Nicely updated kitchen, and we appreciated the Dish Network TV and the internet with WiFi. We enjoyed the porch, and appreciated the option of the fire pit outside - though we didn't light a fire. Parking for 2 cars was great. EASY walking distance to all of downtown Bailey's Harbor - so you don't always have to drive.

The locals call the Eastern side of the Peninsula "the Quiet side" and after spending a week in Bailey's Harbor, we agree.

We thought the location was convenient to everything in Door Co. Seemed like it was only a 15-30 minute drive to get to any of the other towns...Fish Creek, Sister Bay, Sturgeon Bay, any of them. Hit up the touristy things to do in those towns, and then cruise back to Bailey's Harbor to enjoy the serenity.

But we found a lot to do and see right in Bailey's Harbor. Our recomendations:

DC Deli - awesome breakfast, and smoked meats for lunch! Eat here once...you'll want to come back for more.

Bearded Heart Coffee - very flavorful roasts

Cornerstone Pub - great too

Door County Brewing - excellent brews, in a brand new building

Custer's Last Stan - Great sub sandwiches. Only had a little bit of custard here, but it was great.

The Ridges Sanctuary - surprising to find miles of well constructed walking paths in the woods! Plus two light houses to check out!

Lakeshore Adventures - we took a guided Kayak tour. It was a bit of work, but it was worth it. The Sea Caves were awesome.

All in all, we were big fans of the Cottage and the town. The only thing that kept me from giving it 5 stars was that the cottage did not have air conditioning. Honestly, this was not a problem, the weather was in the 70's and every room has a ceiling fan, which made it comfortable. But if you want me to give 5 stars...better have some A/C.

Owner's Response: Paul - Thank you so much for your feedback and great tips on things to do and visit right in Baileys Harbor! We too love Baileys Harbor and can find many things to occupy our time on vacation. Our apologies about the air conditioning. We're glad to hear there wasn't a need for it and since the cottages are on the Lake side it tends to be cooler. We've looked into air conditioning but given the age of the cottage it would need to be a window unit and since there are very few (if any) days it would be used it doesn't seem to make sense for the unsightly appearance. If air conditioning would have made your stay more enjoyable please check out our newer cottage (Arbor) located right next door! Thank you for choosing our cottages we hope to see you back in the future!
