Owner cancelled reservation 1 day before arrival

While I'm sure the place is nice, we will never know. We received confirmation two weeks prior to arrival that our payment and deposit had been accepted, and that we would receive access instructions closer to our arrival date. The day before, shortly after checking in for our flights to Miami, I received emails from Kelly, the owner, advising of the refund of our payment and deposit, without further explanation. I asked why the refund and received no response. I checked the HomeAway trip site and it showed that the reservation was cancelled by the owner...the DAY BEFORE our arrival! I sent multiple follow up messages to the owner to request a phone call or a reason why it was cancelled; no response. I called HomeAway and they had to transfer me to rebooking as they verified that the owner has cancelled our reservation and the only thing that they can do is to try to find a similar property that is available, for spring break, the day before we are set to arrive. Now we are left scrambling trying to find accommodations for our family vacation a day before arrival, when we booked weeks in advance.

Look forward to the next time. The unit is exactly like the pictures!

Within steps to the beach. Having your own large patio that leads to the sandy beach. Waking up in the morning to the sun and the ocean view, started each day of right. Kitchen came with all the cooking tools we needed. Bed was comfy and new. All furniture was new. You can tell the whole unit was renoed and updated. Neighbours were great on both sides. The building had security every where. Even though you were in a top high end neighborhood. The building is old and need some updates, however we didn't need to spend much time in the hallways or front lobby. Valet was a hit and miss, but it is included with the unit. Every building on Collins ave has valet enforce so this was a nice perk and saved us lots of $. I would highly recommend this to a single or couple looking for a nice quiet place on the beach with lots of room. Same price as a small hotel room with less of a view. And there were no bugs or ants in the unit or building that I could see. I look for that as I travel often and use HomeAway and vrbo
