A lot of time and love has gone into making our house a “home away from home” for visitors. We hope you enjoy your time with us as much as we have enjoyed the life experiences we have shared here. We also hope that you will be able to know the same peace and tranquility that we feel when you come to “Rocky Ridge.”

The majority of our past guests have commented on the close proximity we are to everything in the Asheville area as well as the cleanliness we strive to maintain for our guests.

Rocky Ridge Retreat is perfect for newlyweds, retirees, or the small family on a budget. Spend your vacation enjoying all that Asheville and the surrounding areas have to offer. No matter whether you are coming for the cool summer breeze, the brilliant colors in the fall, to enjoy one of the arts and music festival, skiing, or just to get away for a relaxing weekend, you will find Rocky Ridge Retreat close (or within a short driving distance) to wherever you want to be.

Weekend gathering for grand parents, children and grand kids.

  • 5 of 5

We stayed three nights, six of us. The weather was cold and we even had snow, but the house was warm, cosy and well equipped. The children investigated the big yard; we had lunch picnic on the porch. We baked cookies and cooked meals, and the house had everything we needed.

The location is great, just off interstate 40 , then 26. There are stores close by, but the house is hidden and feels private. Everything is very clean: great showers and jacuzzi, lots of warm bedding.

We like to return and recommend it warmly.

We have stayed in many homes and condos on our travels and this one is at the top of the list. What a nice stay. The house was cozy, warm, clean and extremely well furnished. We were surprised at all that was provided. Thanks for a nice Christmas.

Pleasant stay, quiet surroundings

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our stay in Asheville and this house is a short drive from downtown and great to have grocery and shopping outlet nearby. The beds were very comfortable, and it is stocked with all essentials.

Very clean, great location, a few issues

  • 3 of 5

The house is very clean, well appointed (lots of clean towels/kitchen equipment) and very nice deck/yard. Plenty of room to enjoy a get away. There are three issues with the home. The owners have two "live" cameras in the house and that is really quite odd. I would not mind a camera at the front door pointing outside but inside the house is a bit off putting. Second - the master bedroom does not have a door to the commode. The Jacuzzi is in the bedroom (so there is no shower for that bedroom). Lastly, as another reviewer commented, the house that you pass to enter the driveway is a mess. Lots of trash on the front porch and junk in the yard. As the owners said they cannot do anything about this home but I think renters should be aware that they have to drive past this in order to get onto the rental property.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review. I apologize for anything you felt was not adequate or to your satisfaction. As to the cameras, they are only active in the event of the alarm being triggered. They were never intended to "spy" on anyone, but rather for protection. In reference to the neighbors junk, they are handicapped. I have spoken with them on numerous occasions and even offered to help them. They refused. I agree it is a nuisance, however I hope the fact that you can not see their mess once on the property/house makes it somewhat better. We are continually working to rectify this situation. In conclusion, we thank you for staying with us and providing us with feedback.

Nice Cottage & Well Maintained

  • 5 of 5

This home is tucked about 1/2 a mile away from the stores and dining options on Route 191 and same easy access to Interstate 26. First time travelers to Asheville note the city is spread out and this home is located 7 miles (10 minutes) away (Southwest) from the city center.

This home is very neat and well equipped with plenty of towels, linens; we found it to be clean and furnished well with a dining room table that seats 6. We had our family of 4, including 2 teenage children. One took the second bedroom, one took the pullout couch in the living room. Kitchen is well-stocked with utensils so those who like to cook can do so. The outdoor propane grill was almost new or rarely used. We had a very comfortable stay and would have no reservation staying here again. Roberta ALWAYS answers her phone and is a great owner who takes pride in her property.

Some things to note that we loved:

Great outdoor deck & chairs to hang out and relax.

Huge front yard; anyone with kids will enjoy the yard for a game of wiffle ball, frisbee, volleyball, can jam, etc.

Nice outdoor grill

Central air worked great

Clean laundry room in basement; we locked our bicycles in there.

Close to Ingles grocery store & outlets

Spacious shower

Stone Tavern close by was a fun place to eat

Great 4th of July fireworks downtown!

Some things a prospective renter would probably want to know:

The MBR has its own commode but this is NOT enclosed in any way for privacy; we did find this a bit odd. I would recommend a noisy exhaust fan and at least a wood "saloon" type or a pocket door be installed. Future travelers may want to bring a spare shower rod and curtain if you plan on sharing the MBR and value bathroom privacy. The MBR also has a nice Roman tub but does NOT have its own shower. Home has one spacious shower in the hall bath. The water is HOT--any travelers with small children note this.

There are 2 visible wifi cameras in the dining room and hallway.

The home is an older home and the wood floor boards creak.

Living Room TV has HDMI so bring game console or Apple TV (WiFi was fine)

The home is safely tucked away from SR 191. When driving to the home you will pass two hotels (Holiday Inn and Fairfield Suites) that are about 1/4 mile from the home.

After passing the hotels, you will drive past 2-3 homes homes and the very last one before this rental property reminded me of Sanford & Son, meaning it really is like a junkyard. Only real turn-off for us in renting this home

Owner's Response: Thank you for your kind remarks. I will take your suggestions under advisement. We try to maintain a safe and enjoyable house for people to visit, unfortunately there isn't much we can do about our neighbor. We have offered to help them clean up but they would not accept our offer at least it isn't visible from the house.
