Fantastic view, quaint town, short easy drive to beach shopping and touring!

  • 4 of 5

Lovely apartment! Fantastic view! Kind hosts! The hillside town was quaint and beautiful. The restaurant we went to was 5 star and we were treated like royalty. We were in Tuscany for a destination wedding but will come back!

Small issue only. Noisy children next door. But you only hear them from our bathroom.

The balcony overlooking the town below, the sea and mountains is amazing.

Our hosts could not have been any more accommodating. Our flight was delayed. Massimo met us late at night with bottle of local vino!

In the region?! You should stay here!

One of the best properties I have stayed in.

  • 5 of 5

A really nice property with tasteful fittings in the Kitchen, Bathroom and main bedroom. The smaller bedroom was reported by my daughter to be quite hot however. The main thing of course is the outside space, with a lovely balcony and a large terrace as well, which felt very close to nature. The view across to Elba was lovely.

The town itself had a lovely village atmosphere with 2 bars, a small co-op, pharmacy, and a little pizza takeaway.

Massimo and his wife were really nice also.

We loved it!

A very beautiful, fully equipped and clean apartment with a splendid view, a very friendly and helpful owner. For us, a family with two little children, it was the perfect place to spend 3 holiday weeks in September/October.

The apartment is located close to the village of Gavorrano, just as described by the owner, with plenty of parking spaces very close. It has a separate entrance from the vast terrace. We liked the spacious living room with the kitchen integrated and the small balcony which offers the panoramic view even from indoor. The kitchen itself had absolutely everything we needed: The kitchen devices as described, but also enough dishes, pots and pans, and all kind of stuff to simplify cooking. In both bedrooms, we found huge wardrobes, very comfortable to use. The layout of the bathroom is a bit unusual as the photos show, but has real advantages when used by several persons at the same time. Don’t miss the prospect from the toilet!

Just a few steps from the apartment, there’s a small pizzeria (take away) which is worth a visit. And the small playground is just in front of it, so you know where to wait for the pizza when you are with toddlers.

From our point of view, there is nothing which could be better in this apartment. Just a wonderful, quiet place to spend individual holidays!

One of our best holidays - worth the money

  • 5 of 5

Nice, well equipped and very clean small apartment.

We were impressed by the the view from the living-room balcony where you can look over the whole Maremma valley up to the Elba island in the east and the Maremma mountains in the south, having the feeling like an Etruscan king who has just taken Gavorrano with all the villages at your feet as a prey.

About the apartment itself we have nothing to complain. The second bedroom with the bunk bed is a smaller room. So if you sleep 2 there, care whole night for good ventilation. All the equipment is in good condition and everything clean, clean and again clean.

The communication with the owner was easy. As we don't speak Italian, we communicated in English. What so ever we have asked was explained clearly and exactly. The owner is very kind and helpful. On our arrival we were surprised by a welcome gift - wine and fruits.

Gavorrano itself is a nice quiet historical town. I don't use the term village, as in my term a village doesn't have massive defence walls and three-storey houses. There are always some tourists there but it is far more quiet compared to the other famous Tuscan towns. But although it is not so famous, it's really nice and lovable. You have there one small supermarket (COOP), tobacco a newspaper shop, post office, pharmacy, groceries and some restaurants. A large COOP supermarket is then in Bagno di Gavorrano.

"The view from the balcony is beautiful. Terrace is located by the road. Limestone quarry causes dust in a windy day on the balcony and terrace. Verry good "Etruscian" tratoria in a village. Very good contact with the owner :)"

A couple travelling whit a toddler, spent two weeks at the apartment in may 2011.

Nice, clean, well equipped apartment in a quiet village. A perfect get-away. Beautiful view from the balcony over the valley and coastline. The pictures don’t do it justice.

Car recommended, there is no problem finding parking, but there are also regular busses to close by villages.

Friendly, helpful owners whit good knowledge about the area.

Sleepy village with a grocery store, restaurants, bars and a small playground. A larger supermarket in a close by village (5 min drive). There is also olive oil and wine producers selling there products close by. I recomend that you contact the producers in advance and make an appointment so that you make sure that you can get a tour of the farm and a tasteing of their products. But you can always just drop by and shop.

We went on several excursions in the area and we always felt that warm feeling of “coming home” driving up the hill towards Gavorrano.

Bring slippers, cold floors.

Car: recommended

From the North : A12 exit to Rosignano and take the Aurelia way (SS1). Follow the Aurelia for about 90 Km. Exit to Gavorrano, cross the village of "Bagno di Gavorrano" (2 Km from Aurelia) and go on for 5 Km to Gavorrano.

From the South : A12 exit to Civitavecchia and take the Aurelia way (SS1). Follow the Aurelia for about 150 Km. Exit to Gavorrano and go on as above.

Gavorrano 273 m, benefts from an excellent climate thanks to the height, the sorrounding green woods and the gentle sea breezes coming from the nearby Follonica Gulf. The village was founded in the Middle age and still maintains a very characteristic historical centre. It was also an important mining centre and this distinctive feature nowadays lives in the local Mine Museum where the dramatic Rocks Theatre is based too.In this theatre important international events take place in the summer. In the area many sports can be done : trekking, horse riding, fishing, tennis, golf, football, sailing, diving, windsurf, ecc. An important golf resort is located at about 6 Km far from Gavorrano (another one is at Punta Ala 25 Km far)where you can find also a modern beuty centre. The beatiful beaches of Follonica and Punta Ala can be easily reached by car or bus (15-20 min).Furthermore : at 12 Km Scarlino turistic harbour;at 25 Km the medioeval town of Massa Marittima (beautiful cathedral); at 35 Km the important thermal centre of Venturina (warm water swimming pools);at 40 Km ferries to Elba isle;at 85 Km the splendid town of Siena (Palio); at 140 Km Florence with his fascinating reinassance jewels.
