'There's so much to do but what's great is that you don't HAVE to do it!' This comment from one of our visitors refers to how lovely it is just relaxing around the villa, soaking up the magnificent views and the peace and quiet. It is light and airy, modern and is equipped and furnished to a very high standard. It has two bedrooms (one double, one twin), both with en-suite shower rooms (with WCs) and ceiling fans, an open-plan fully-fitted kitchen / dining / living room, a spacious covered terrace with dining and sitting areas, and a large garden with a gas barbecue, table tennis and sun loungers. The friendly (but discreet) owners live 40 metres away and, as the two houses are out of sight of one another, guests are guaranteed complete privacy. There is unrestricted use of the owners' pool, which is solar heated at the beginning and end of the season and has a pool house (with fridge and tea and coffee making facilities), shaded areas and loungers.

The lounge has a wood-burning stove for winter cosiness.

About Adrian Tee

We grew up in the south of England and have lived in France for many years. Pauline works in Perpignan and Adrian has worked all over the area, making him in particular a mine of information on places to see and things to do.

They are very friendly and happy to help with anything needed, but are also very respectful of guests' privacy.

Why Adrian Tee chose Aspres

We fell in love with the countryside around Montauriol for its rural beauty, tranquility, walks, nature (wild plants, birds) and the friendly Catalan community. (Pauline was a village councillor for several years and survived to tell the tale!)

And yet this ideal setting for R&R is within easy reach of buzzing coastal resorts and the town of Perpignan, with its programme of summer activities. For example, the Jeudis de Perpigan are not to be missed: guests always love the varied music and street entertainment that takes place all around the town.

What makes this villa unique

The villa was purpose built by Adrian's own fair hands and was designed for relaxing holidays. When not seeing the sights, rambling in the country or doing a few lengths in the pool, guests can sit on the terrace, cool drink (or cuppa) in hand, watching the sun go down behind the mountains and admiring the spectacular colours of the sunset. Some guests remarked that they'd never had a kitchen sink with such an amazing view.

Perfect hosts Perfect Stay

Oh wow what a breathtaking view from all around. Wasn't exactly as listed it was way better. Spotlessly clean and very well maintained. The owners couldn't have been more helpful with everything from recommending restaurants to vets to places to visit. They were even very understanding when our dog chased their goats as we were extremely embarrassed. They weren't at all intrusive left you well alone to relax and enjoy our stay. Drinks and Cake on Friday night was really lovely especially the home made cake. Yummy. I would definitely recommend this property to everyone. Thank you so much for allowing us to stay. Xx

Room with a View

Los Maillols is a very well appointed villa located on a hillside with stunning views of the mountains and valleys. We were greeted on arrival by Adrian and Pauline and shown around the wonderfully clean and extremely well equipped villa. Our hosts were always available to answer any questions and to advise us on places to visit and routes to take. Some of the villa equipment is superb ranging from a sound system to unleash your ipod playlist, to a very fast and reliable wifi system. We made full use of the gas fired BBQ and the lovely warm swimming pool.

We would particularly recommend a visit to the nearby Mas Des Olivettes restaurant. Do not be put off by the rough track you need to drive down to reach it; the food is superb with the friendly chef willing to come out and discuss your requirements. A visit to the beautiful city of Perpignan on a Thursday evening to catch all of the local entertainment is not to be missed.

We shall definitely book again for a longer stay.

Comfortabele bungalow van alle gemakken voorzien, schitterend uitzicht! Erg mooie omgeving comfortabel buiten de toeristische gebieden. Prettige eigenaar. Mooi zwembad maar tot juni nog wat aan de koude kant.

Endroit très calme dans la nature avec belle vue

Logement simple et confortable, correctement équipé et spacieux.

2 Radiateurs électriques lors de matins frais en cette saison nécessitent quelques déplacements pour chauffer les 2 chambres et le séjour; un 3e serait le bienvenu.

Les abords pourraient être améliorés. L'accès par un chemin en forte pente et en gravier est difficile et impossible à des véhicules bas --> à signaler dans l'annonce.

L'accès à la piscine (encore fermée en cette période) est difficile surtout pour des enfants.

Proprio "cool" et sympa.

Sauf erreur, la garantie comprise dans le montant de la location (procédé assez "cavalier!") reste à rembourser.

Très bon séjour dans un gite très fonctionnel avec des hôtes très accueillants et discrets. Piscine à volonté dans un cadre magique. Nous avons passé une semaine magnifique.

The Pyrenées-Orientales can be said to have everything - sun, sea, mountains... and Spain within easy reach (Gerona Airport is only 100 km away and can be the cheapest access to the area). The villa is just outside Montauriol, a quiet village in the foothills of the Pyrenees. It is 30 minutes south-west of Perpignan, 30 minutes from the Spanish border, 40 minutes from the coast (sandy beaches at Canet, St Cyprien, Argelès, Collioure...) and 1 hour 30 minutes from the nearest ski resort. As well as its unspoilt natural beauty and picturesque villages and harbours, the area is known for its history (abbeys, churches, castles, walled villages...) and culture (art galleries, music festivals...). Tourism is well developed so a full range of activities is available, e.g. water skiing, diving, horse-riding, canyoning, paragliding, ULM, animal and bird parks, etc. There are also excellent shops, markets, restaurants and clubs. So there's plenty for those who want more than R & R!
