Dawn, David and Matthew : Just to say thank you for making us all so welcome at Chez Gabrielle. The gite, Jasmin, was just perfect - beautifully finished and so well supplied with everything a family could need on holiday. The surrounding area is lovely and so many places to see that 1 week was not really long enough. We will keep in touch and hope to see you again next summer.
Nuala, Mac and boys: Had a lovely, relaxing holiday in 'Jasmin' in Fontaine - Chalendray. Hosts welcoming, friendly and helpful.
Accommodation comfortable, spacious, clean and well - appointed. Children loved the pool, table - tennis and boules. We loved the countryside for cycling, safe and picturesque. Good memories.
Christine, Rob Em and Rebekah: It was a real pleasure to stay in such a beautiful home, Fleur ( even if only for a fortnight). We will look forward to coming back. Be in touch soon

Me, my wife and 14 year old twin daughters spent 2 weeks in the smaller of the 2 gites - Fleur towards the end of August. We were certainly not disappointed. From the moment that we met Didier and Babeth and they showed us around the property, garden and pool we knew that we had found an idyllic spot to unwind and relax.
Inside the gite was spotless. Fresh towels were supplied each week as well as clean sheets. It was well appointed inside and out. The gardens and pool were well maintained and we had everything that we needed to enjoy al freso dining. I especially enjoyed the fact that we had 2 ensuite bedrooms which meant that I did not have the hassle of trying to get into a bathroom every morning! Didier was at the other end of the phone if we needed anything.
The gite is on the edge of a tiny village called Fontaine Chalendray quite high up with views of the surrounding countryside containing the obligatory sunflowers (!) but stretching out towards the south are the start of the vines that go towards the famous Pineau and the world famous Cognac.
There are local supermarkets nearby although the bread van was most welcome at 9 every morning with the largest croissants you will ever see. We enjoyed eating out at the Bistro in Nere and the Hotel Des Voyages in Chef Boutonne. There is plenty to see in the surrounding area and we paid visits to Jarnac, Aulnay, Saint Jean D'Angely and Angouleme to name a few.
All of this was helped by the endless sunshine (except for a couple of overcast mornings) which was what we had hoped for. The property is excellent for one or two families to sample a piece of rural France which they would never forget. I would recommend this property to all of my family and friends and to anyone who reads this review as our stay has left us with many happy memories and a yearning to return.
