Perfect alternative to expensive hotel room without giving up luxury or location! Beautiful historic building completely renovated with all modern amenities and elevator, the building is completely brand new inside, but with original facade outside on popular Huertas street, extremely close to Prado, Thyssen and Reina Sofia Museums and the Palacio Real (Royal Palace), in historic downtown center of Madrid, the famous Barrio de las Letras.
The apartment has a very comfortable Queen bed ( 160 cm )
and 2 sofa beds in the living area. The bedroom has 3 walls and is not totally private. You can see it in the pictures.
I have lived in Madrid for the past decade, glad to help you choose the best places to visit in and around Madrid. The apartment is right next to Plaza de Santa Ana. Near Puerta del Sol and the Plaza Mayor and the Museums. You can walk to to La Cava Baja, a street full of restaurants and little bars. Also, the Mercado de San Miguel a great meeting place and delicious tapas!
The Metro subway station is a few steps away, so that you may easily move around Madrid, as well as a short walk to the Atocha Main Train station, from which you can easily take the high-speed bullet train AVE to Toledo, Segovia or Avila, or longer trips to Sevilla, Alicante or Barcelona.
You will love it!
Our family moved from California to Madrid in the year 2000. We love Madrid and I am sure that all our guests will love it too.
I like to meet my guests and always try to be as helpful as possible. We do have several apartments in the same building and if you read our reviews you will see that most people really enjoyed their stay with us.
I look forward to hosting you in Madrid.

Location, location, location! This is smack-dab in the middle of the historic Barrio de las Letras (Literature Neighborhood) very romantic, safe and with countless places to eat, people-watch, on a pedestrian street (no traffic).
The building was completely gutted a few years ago and they saved the facade and the 100 year old staircase, but everything else is brand-new modern construction and a modern elevator. We have furnished and equipped the apartment with everything we would like to find in a rental, we use VRBO ourselves when we travel so we understand that small details are paramount. Besides, we have lived in Madrid for over a decade, so we are happy to steer you to the best suggestions, whether they are restaurants, site seeing, shopping, trendy restaurants, family places or unique Madrid experiences depending on your date of travel.
Property is renovated, very nice and modern. Location is unbeatable, in the heart of Madrid, walking distance to all touristic attractions.
This well-appointed apartment in an historic yet lively part of Madrid was such a treat during my recent two-week business trip. Gorete and her colleague couldn't be nicer or more helpful, and the layout and amenities were spot on. The apartment has a wonderful blend of traditional with two French doors opening onto the cobblestone street below, yet modern in appliances (washer-dryer-in-one), cable TV/wifi, and pots/pans/dishes for a full-on dinner if desired. If I were coming back with my family and two kids, this would be an ideal place. Maybe close quarters for my two younger teen kids, but the proximity to a very safe-feeling part of Madrid provides the perfect outlet for everyone. I'm coming back!
Words cannot express how happy we were
with our stay: At Home In Madrid! Gorette
was more than just a gracious host for us.
We were greeted upon our arrival by
her and welcomed warmly to Madrid.
This perfectly appointed apartment in
Huertas is in a perfect location as well.
Definitely lived up to our expectations.
Would recommend strongly + will return!

I spend two weeks in Gorete's apartment in december. It is my second time in one of her apartment. I came back because of a lot of good reasons. First, i was warmly welcomed by Alicia who was there when i arrived after a long flight. A basket of fruits, a chocolate cake, a bottle of wine and of water waiting for me on the kitchen counter. The apartement was clean and well furnished as usual. The bed was confortable. The apartment is quiet enough to get a good sleep. However, it is a bit noisy on weekends. So, for those who get to bed early, you should take one of Gorete's apartment that give to the interior court. It is also nice. The apartment is so well located that you can walk to every major attraction. Gorete is very nice and came by to say hello. I will come back next year for sure.
We stayed here for a week while in Madrid. We cannot say enough about the apartment or Gorete. We were welcomed by Alicia who gave us an overview of the apartment, and had a wonderful bottle of wine waiting for us, which came in handy after a long day travelling. The apartment was really close to everything in Old Madrid. There is some street noise at night, but it didn't bother us at all since we live in a city. I would highly recommend this property. It was nicer than a lot of hotels we have stayed in.
What a great place to stay! The apartment was clean, comfortable, well furnished, and perfect for the two of us. It felt like a home away from home. The location was superb - centrally located, easy walking distance to the major sights in Madrid. Gorete, the owner, was very welcoming and super helpful. We will definitely stay here again next time we visit Madrid!

Location, location, location! This is smack-dab in the middle of the historic Barrio de las Letras (Literature Neighborhood) very romantic, safe and with countless places to eat, people-watch, on a pedestrian street (no traffic). The apartment is located in a historic building that was completely renovated a few years ago, so that the essence of the old was kept and all the modern amenities and comforts added. The windows are double-paned glass, so that even though you are smack-dab in the middle of the historic downtown area, literally a stone´s throw away from virtually all the worthwhile cultural and artistic sites (Prado Museum, Reina Sofia Modern Art Museum, Thyssen, Palacio Real (Royal Palace), Plaza Mayor, Puerta del Sol, etc.) you will have a safe and restful home away from home to enjoy Madrid to the fullest! Also, the Metro stop and Atocha train station is very, very close and you may easily take day trips to Toledo, Segovia, Avila or take the AVE (High Speed Train) to Sevilla, Alicante or Barcelona.
