We are Sheldon and Mary, the proud owners of Elbow Lake Lodge on beautiful Big Elbow Lake. Since 2007 we have owned and managed Knotty Pines Resort, a 10 cabin resort with a campground on Boulder Lake in the Park Rapids area (approx. 40 miles from the Lodge). We hope that families will come and enjoy Elbow Lake Lodge as much as they have our resort.
We would like to share this beautiful Lodge, and look forward to meeting new guests and making new friends. As the parents of five children and thirteen grand children, we can think of no better place to make those special family memories than at the lake.
sheldon schiebe purchased this cabin in 2014
This property holds special memories for Sheldon as he started vacationing on Big Elbow with his family in the late 50's. Sheldon also has three cousins on the lake . Elbow Lake Lodge is a log sided cabin built in 1948 and is one of the first cabins on the lake. It was used as a cabin and hunting lodge over the years and has an historic, cozy stone fireplace. The peaceful north-woods ambiance as you drive on to the property. The lake view is very beautiful from the great room, deck and from the expansive wrap around enclosed porch. The setting is very private, surrounded by 11 acres and very little development. Big Elbow Lake is a gorgeous and scenic 1100 acre lake with good fishing, crystal clear water and many sets of loons to serenade you at night.
We are confident that you and your family will enjoy the peace and quiet at Elbow Lake Lodge situated on 250' of private lake shore set in the big pines.
The lodge's historic, stone fireplace and a large great room are perfect for family gatherings. The enclosed wrap-around porch, great room and fireplace area offer expansive views of beautiful Big Elbow Lake. The lodge is located at the end of the road and offers wonderful seclusion, privacy and quiet.
Everyone loved the cabin and beach. We spent each morning on the huge porch overlooking the lake. The beach and fire pit was where we hung out most of the day. The family room is a nice size and there's enough seating for everyone. I can't wait to go back next summer.
The home was spotless and the property amazing. We hope to come again next year.
The pictures do not do this cabin justice. Lots of space for our family to be together.
it it very quiet and peacful. Elbow lake is pristine. Eagles, loons, ducks and geese are some of the wildlife we saw.
Clean, nicley decorated. We brought our own towels but bedding was provoded.
Sheldon and Mary where very helpful and answered all questions we had.
We went to Itaska which is close by.
We enjoyed our time there.
This place was perfect for what we were looking for. It was private and a ton of space. Everything was as advertised and couldn't be more pleased working with the owner.
We spent time at this cabin over fall break, and it was so beautiful! The cabin was very clean, comfy, and cozy! The view of the lake was stunning. My favorite places were the three season porch for reading/taking in the scenery, the game table/corner for puzzles and card games, and of course in front of the big stone fireplace since the October nights were chilly. The views are great from everywhere in the cabin! The ages in our group ranged from <1 up to over 60, and everyone enjoyed it!
Very private and quiet location surrounded by forests including Itaska State Park. Very clear water and nice sand beach. Fish were definitely available. Wonderful older cabin home that has been updated. All accomodations as seen in on-line pictures. Owner very prompt and easy to work with. Perfert for family vacation that included grandchildren.
We are located in the beautiful forested area with Itasca State Park and North Country Hiking trail within a short drive on scenic Highway 113. Enjoy the active wildlife in the wooded area. Great fishing on Big Elbow Lake and just a few miles from Bad Medicine Lake, known throughout Minnesota for it's lake trout.
