The Lookout is a Luxury Ski-In Ski-Out (to down-hill and cross country ski trails) Timber Frame Chalet with Beautiful Mountain Views @ Kicking Horse Mountain Resort. Our property features hardwood floors throughout with in-floor radiant heat, European-style open galley kitchen with Miele and Liebherr appliances and additional vegetable sink with garburator. Floor to ceiling windows showcasing a 270 degree view of the surrounding mountains and high vaulted wood ceilings throughout. This property is sure to please those seeking a quality vacation.
Three bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, sleeps up to 12. Large private outdoor hot tub, unusually large soaker tub in Master Bedroom, HIGH SPEED INTERNET, pool table, small BBQ, wood stove, ski and snowboard equipment room with ski tuning table, sleds, laundry room, keyless entry with a code that you choose, multiple entertainment areas, comfortable and welcoming layout.
The Master bedroom is a retreat in itself. Luxurious king size bed, sitting area, soaker tub for two, three-sided glass rain shower, bidet, double sinks, private balcony, lots of storage for clothes. Peaceful. Quiet. Secluded. Just go in, shut the door behind you, and forget the world.
The summers at KHMR offer gondola access ridge hiking. There's downhill mountain biking on the hill and cross country mountain biking near Cedar Lake (5 km down the hill) which has a (pretty extreme looking) rope swing but we have seen people risk it and live to tell... that's up to you. Other attractions include golfing, road cycling, river rafting, fishing, parasailing, grizzly bear refuge on the mountain and a near-by wolf refuge.
A handful of pubs, restaurants, and the general store are all within a five minute walk from The Lookout.
Hi! I'm Marli of Marli and Mark. I'll be the one answering all of your questions :) I was born in Calgary but mostly grew up on the shores of southern Nova Scotia. My parents moved us to BC to be closer to family when I was a young teen so I went from ocean living to lakes and mountains. It was a big adjustment. I ended up liking BC so much that I stayed for 20 years before landing back in Calgary where Mark and I met. Awwww!! Mark grew up in Winnipeg and moved to Calgary after Uni. He's into road biking and skiing and I'm a snowboarding yogini. We hope you enjoy your stay at The Lookout! It's a special place!
Marli purchased this chalet in 2007
This property is the key to our hearts. Chosen for it's relaxing comfort, views of the mountains, uniqueness... AND the water and air here at Kicking Horse are amazing so take deep breaths often and swim in the big soaker tub in the master bedroom which comfortably fits two adults. It's a real getaway. It takes less than three hours to get here from Calgary where you'll soak up the solitude and stillness.
The feel of The Lookout is warm and cozy. It's pretty grand when you first come up the stairs, vaulted ceilings, the views of the mountains are breathtaking. Sit down and play a game or hang out in the kitchen, pour some drinks, feel right at home. It's pretty lovely to have such an open space to visit with your family and friends. We have enjoyed that aspect so much and we hope you do too.
Your kids will feel right at home, snuggled up watching movies, hot tubbing, boardgames, pool room shenanigans, sledding, snowshoeing, skiing, snowboarding. It's the best to ski home when you're needing a break or a snack, and then hop on your skis and head back out.
It's a big mountain with lots of vertical, great snow, chutes, moguls, bowls. I recommend the bathtub in the master bedroom for a little self-time /quiet getaway. We think you'll love your time visiting Kicking Horse with your family and friends.
The Lookout Chalet is incredible. This was our first visit to the Kicking Horse Resort and we picked the perfect place to stay. The house is gorgeous, clean and well equipped. The outside temperatures were extremely cold during our visit, so we didn't ski as much as intended but we had such a great time hanging out in The Lookout in front of the fire in the great room, playing board games, playing pool downstairs, and making meals in the beautiful kitchen. The master suite is huge and I loved lying in bed watching the sun come up over the mountain peaks. We were a group of only 4 but this house has plenty of room for larger groups. Hot tub was nice and clean. The resort is a 5 minute walk. You can easily ski down to the lifts but a little tougher coming back up with ski boots on, but doable. Marli was a very responsive host. I highly recommend this VRBO!
We loved our recent stay at the Lookout. Golden and Kicking Horse mountain never disappoint and this house was exceptional! The kitchen was very well stocked and the house was very clean and had so many nice little touches that made it feel so warm and inviting. The master bedroom was blissful. We stayed with 3 young children and there were sleds and toys for them to play with! The dog run was also great. Highly recommend this place!
The home was beautiful, extremely clean, with a great layout. We had 10 guests stay with us and our experience could not have been better. The owner, (Marli) was absolutely wonderful to deal with. She was extremely accommodating and ensured that no request went unfulfilled. We have stayed in many vacations homes and have never experienced the level of hospitality Marli displayed. A must stay!
I loved my visit here!
Everything provided so not having to load the car too much was a huge benefit
Plenty of utensils and plates.
Dvd's and Netflix access.
The hot tub was in a great setting.
Main bedroom is beautiful, if your staying with small kids maybe a baby monitor might be worth while bringing as the kids rooms is downstairs out the way so you can't hear them if they need you!
Fairly close to local supermarket
Pub just down the hill a little, so walkable. Opposite a restaurant which is nice but expensive.
Stunning views from every room.
Highly recommend staying here
Our mens retreat loved the space! The hot tub, pool table and provided board games were perfect for keeping us entertained on our weekend trip. The kitchen is stocked with good quality appliances and utensils along with two fridges.
The Kicking Horse Tavern is a short 5 min walk as well as the Kicking Horse Gondola. Down the road 10minutes is Cedar Lake and campsite which is perfect for a beach afternoon. The town of Golden is 5 minutes further.
Marli was great to deal with and was quick to respond to the few questions we had. Highly recommend this mountain paradise to anyone!
