Delightful cottage

  • 5 of 5

We have recently returned from a 2 week stay in this delightful house in the old part of Korissia, close to the sea. The house is extremely comfortable and well equipped. I am somewhat mystified by the previous review - I have been visiting Greece for more than 40 years and I would say this is one of the nicest, and certainly the best equipped, house I have stayed in. There are two terraces, one small and one very large, both with lovely views of the village and the harbour. Ok, there are only 2 sun loungers, but you will probably be lounging on the beaches anyway, and there is plenty of room on the stone benches, with cushions, to relax and watch the endlessly fascinating comings and goings of the boats and ferries. We were not disturbed at all by noise from the ferries. Nadine and her husband Pol met us on arrival, along with their son and a friend who helped us with the luggage (there are a lot of steps up to the house which is at the top of the village!), they were very welcoming and were keen that we should enjoy our stay.

I would definitely recommend this house.

I would not recommend this property

  • 3 of 5

The house is a bit tired. Window handles broken, the oven didn't work and was waiting to be replaced, the hob didn't work very well etc. We couldn't sleep due to the ferries coming into the harbour late at night leaving their engines running for up to 6 hours. When they dropped anchor it was like having the Canterville Ghost in the bedroom. When we went to try the other bedroom to see if that was quieter we discovered that the beds weren't made up and we couldn't find any bed linen to fit. We had to contact Nadine to get some dropped off. That meant another night without any sleep. We booked and paid for another cottage somewhere else for the remaining four nights just to get away from the noise of the ferries. There wasn't a welcome pack as per one of the reviews just a bottle of water. There were plenty of towels. In all of the villas or cottages we have rented before there has always been a welcome pack and a new bar of soap as well as some cotton wool, some toiletries here there was a used bar of soap and some sachets of shower gel. Despite being advertised as for up to five people, there are only two sun loungers. The table sways like a ship so you wouldn't want to eat at it, certainly not with children. All of the books and guide books are in French. Nadine's English isn't great, she didn't really seem at all interested in whether we liked our stay or not as if her heart is no longer in it. Again when we have stayed elsewhere there is a passion in the hosts who just so want to make sure you're happy, that certainly wasn't the case here. I wouldn't recommend Fisherman's house nor Korissia but I would highly recommend Kea it is the most lovely island, lovely people stunning food. Greece at it's best.

Owner's Response: For the first time in 7 years, that is to say, since we rent the house we record a negative assessment of 2 English Denise and Matt (all websites and also live). Amazing appreciation so that all occupants were unanimously delighted to stay in particular to the quality of our welcome and the facilities and location of the house. We are always looking to improve and really regret that Denise and Matt have not us expressed criticism during their stay. It had to be noticed that the house was rented for 2 persons and the price payed for this.

Super accueil ! Encore un grand merci !

Maison très agréable et hôtes très accueillants

  • 5 of 5

The island of Kea is located north of the Cyclades, it is reached by ferry boat from the port of Lavrio. The crossing is one hour.

Little known to tourists, it is especially popular with the Greeks and especially by the Athenians who built villas.

The main port of Korissia is situated in a quiet bay safer Mediterranean

Two steps, Vourkari, another small marina is bathed in the waters of the Gulf of Agios Nikolaos (St. Nicolas).

The main port, a road rises to the many hills of the island and joined Ioulis, capital of the island, built in the Cycladic-style amphitheater on the hillsides.

This small village attracts with its white houses with colorful shutters, a maze of alleyways, numerous chapels and churches. The views of the surrounding islands are great.
