Unique experience, quiet and near enough to top sights

  • 4 of 5

Our family of five enjoyed the unique experience of living on a houseboat along the bustling Seine River, not far from the main sights, for three nights in early July 2017. It was clean though a bit musty-smelling (not terribly surprising given the setting); the kitchen and bathroom were tiny but adequate; and we loved sitting out for breakfast or dinner on the top deck, watching the tourist boats go by. It was quiet at night and the air con kept us comfortable during a heatwave. Only negative was a super-slow shower drain. Overall, a positive experience, probably closer to a 3.5 stars than 4.

Unique and pleasant stay in Paris

  • 4 of 5

Staying on this houseboat was a blissful time. Being a short walk from Gare d'Austerlitz is really convenient, since the area itself doesn't have a lot of places nearby to eat, drink, or be very merry. I would suggest bringing food and drink to bring back to the patio area for dinner at sunset, though not too late as you are close to many other people on their boats!

Getting on the boat was incredibly easy and the size was ideal for 2 people, though we were both nimble and brought minimal baggage. There is plentiful sleeping and relaxing space. The bathroom is well equipped, though it is a ship shower so the hot water takes time to warm and the drainage will need to be minded. All in all though, Georges was a very thorough, complete, and generous host. Very unique stay, and lots of fun!

The accommodation is fine but bathroom quite small.

  • 4 of 5

The boat is is in a great location and especially as we were attending a concert at the arena on the other side of the Seine. There was plenty of room for the 5 of us and the weather was surperb for our visit. The instructions and all information was accurate prior to our visit and it was a great experience for us all.

Excellent!

  • 5 of 5

Lovely stay in Paris - so sorry it's taken me so long to write a review! My wife and I stayed here in June 2015 with our 3 kids (9, 8 and 6). A lovely and different experience on the houseboat and definitely one to be repeated. Tres Parisienne! The directions were fine, the place was lovely and quirky and the location ideal. George was a lovely host and I'd definitely recommend.

A fun and enjoyable experience living on the Seine

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed staying at this unique property that is perfectly situated on the Left Bank of the Seine river adjacent to the Jardin des Plantes and across from the Gare d' Austerlitz station. The amenities and description of the property were accurate and the boat was clean and well maintained. The owners were responsive when it counted and we felt that if there were any real issues (of which there where none) they would have been accessible. The river is relatively calm and the waves generated by passing boats are gentle enough. Paris is a very busy city (and thus, very loud). This area is no exception. But we were relieved to find the boat well insulated when we were ready to retire and shut out the city sounds and lights.

A couple thoughts for those considering this property: you need to be sure footed and relatively light with the amount of luggage you have in tow. There are two other boats to cross and the walk way on one of the boats is narrow and a bit daunting when approached for the first time (especially at night). But that's all part of having a sense of adventure, isn't it? Also, since this is truly a boat, some of the spaces are narrow and small (especially the bathroom and shower). Otherwise, we are happy to recommend this property as a pleasant and unique way to experience Paris!

Adventurous way to stay in Paris!

  • 4 of 5

My family and I stayed in the houseboat during our recent trip to Paris. Our children (ages 6 and 9) thought it was great fun! The owners were extremely helpful and responsive.
