There are simply not enough words to describe our amazing stay at this property. Maria is the consummate hostess. We were presented with a home made cake upon our arrival, another cake when she had to stop by for a brief visit, and called a day into our stay making sure everything was in working order and to see if we needed anything. We had to leave a 4 am in order to make our flight and she arranged to have a reliable taxi come get us. While the villa is gorgeous and spacious, Maria is the crown gem that made our stay that much more unforgettable.
One thing to point out, AciCastello can be a popular town on a Friday/Saturday night and the Italian people talk passionately and love to stroll the "lungomare" which the villa sits on. It can get loud on those evenings so staying in the upstairs bedrooms would be best if you are a light sleeper.
On the flip side, the walkability of the location is perfect. Acitrezza is a 20 minute walk with additional restaurants and cafes and more beautiful scenery. The views from the terrace in the morning are spectacular and we loved having coffee and delicious Sicilian pastries in the morning from there.
Again cannot say enough. Would definitely stay here again on a future visit.
When we read the reviews for this property were we a little suspicious. How could a property be this good? Well, having stayed there for a week, we now know the reviews were accurate. This property is a gem. The house is completely set out for your comfort and enjoyment. It was fantastic. It is spacious and has everything you would want.
Maria is a lovely person. We missed our connection in Rome and were very late arriving. This was not a problem for Maria. We had informed her but there she was patiently awaiting our arrival at nearly 10pm! She took the time to show us around the property and give us details of things to see, where to eat and other useful things. She also contacted us every couple of days to make sure everything was alright. It was like having a relative nearby!
Maria also baked us a delicious pistachio cake and stocked the fridge with all sorts of goodies to help us through the first day.
The location of the property is fantastic. It has an uninterrupted view of the water and the castle. It is very close to Aci Castello town with shops and restaurants. It is an easy drive to Catania, Siracusa, Mt Etna and Taormina.
I would thoroughly recommend this property and its owner Maria. Thanks for a great holiday.
The “best" of Sicily, is here in this beautiful, well kept seaside villa located in the quaint, scenic town of Acicastello. We spent our Holidays here and loved every minute of it! Enjoying coffee, fresh breads and pastries from the local shops on the front terrace overlooking the sea and the ancient castle was the way we started our days, and fell asleep each night with the sound of the sea, just outside our windows. The view is breathtaking, the villa very comfortable, and just a few steps from shopping, cafes, a family friendly piazza bustling on weekends with sidewalk coffee bars and restaurants. There is a wonderful wine bar where the locals will welcome you, and church bells that lilt down to the villa several times a day. The location is perfect. There is a coastal road just beyond the castle which runs high above the sea affording amazing views. It is a nice place to walk, jog or bike. Just a short walk south and you are in Aciterezza where there is a scenic walk, restaurants and shops. Historic Taormina is 35- 40 minutes by car and the Plaza Duormo in Catania about 20 minutes.
The owner of the villa is Maria, a wonderful warm and welcoming woman whose goal is to be sure you are comfortable in every way. She provided first class service above and beyond any expectations. The well appointed kitchen was stocked with essentials to get us started, juice, fresh Sicilian oranges, toast, coffee etc.... We had one minor maintenance issue and Maria responded immediately, with a repairman there the same day. It was a worry free month.
All of the rooms are warmly furnished, spacious, with high ceilings and have plenty of storage to unpack and settle in.
Our son, daughter in law and 18 month old grandson came for 2 weeks over Christmas, the villa could not have been more perfect to handle the baby. A new pack & play style crib, a high chair and spacious tub for bath time were all provided.
The month we spent in Acicastello in the villa by the sea was heavenly and flew by all too quickly. Is there a way to give it 10 stars? It could not have been more perfect!
This is not a holiday rental but a holiday home. Maria is wonderful. She greeted us when we arrived like we were family and she had made us a lasagne and a cake (both of which were delicious) and had stocked the fridge with lots of goodies. The house is fantastic and has everything you could need and more. The huge balcony overlooking the sea and the castle is amazing and we spent a lot of time relaxing and admiring the view. The only negative was that we had to leave to return to England. We would have loved to live there permanently.
The flat is really tastefully decorated, and has a fantastic view from the big and nice terrace. It's very comfortable, with a jaccuzzi, large rooms, plenty of storing space. The landlady is really nice. She had prepared a traditional cake for our children and the fridge was full of everything we could have needed for our first breakfast and even more. Acicastello is a charming village, it's really worth visiting the castle for its great view and nice garden, and then to wander in the historic center nearby. No sandy beaches but it's still possible to swim in the sea from a few spots, a few minutes away from the villa. We stayed ther with our three boys aged 2 to 10. They were very sad to leave...and so was my husband and me. Thank you very much Madam for your welcome. It deserves 5 stars ...On the negative side, the villa is close to where people party at night, and I couldn' sleep properly, hence the 4 star marks. My husband and children did not have the same problem though.
My wife and me (both 50) spent one week in this fantastic and calm villa.
A first surprise was our reception by Maria, the owner of the house, that everything was prepared for a first menu after our arrival in Aci Castello: Antipasti, fruits, water, wine and a sweet cake.
And for diner the backoven comes up with a homemade Penne al forno.
The breakfast we celebrated always on the terrace, which was heated by the November morning sun, enjoying the magnificent view on the sea, the castle and the cyclopes.
The fading of the day we mostly spent in the Hollywood swing with a glass of wine in the candle light.
Travelling in pairs, we used only the rooms in the ground floor. All was clean and well equipped.
Restaurants and shops for all daily needs are located in Aci Castello and are accessible by foot.
Parking was easy along the one way street, but also possible in the garage.
We gladly remember our stay in this fantastic villa and thanks to Maria for her affectionate preparation, reception and attendance during our stay.
