Our private lake is stocked with rainbow trout for catch and release fishing, and swimming is available at your own risk. Our buffalo herd can often be seen from the house. We usually have about 50 head of buffalo, and you can sometimes hear their thundering hooves as they run. The baby buffalo are born in May~June, and they are sooo adorable!
It is a 5 minute drive to Lake Koocanusa and Eureka where there are many shops, golf courses, restaurants and bars. It is also just 10 minutes to the Canadian Border, 50 minutes to Whitefish or 2 hours to Glacier National Park.
Jim and Christine own and operate a unique buffalo ranch from the adjacent property. They tend the land with loving care and will be around to show you their animals and provide any guidance you need regarding fishing, hunting or sightseeing.
Jim and Christine Gibson purchased this house in 2002
We love living in rural Montana, because the scenery and the seclusion appeal to us. Our location is ideal to 'get away from it all' yet if you want shopping, golf, dining, boating etc.... it's all easy to get too.
There is a private 11 acre lake on the property stocked with trout for catch and release fishing, where swimming and other water sports is available during the summer. In addition to the herd of buffalo on the property, there is an abundance of wildlife.
Pictures don't do this place justice, a great amount of pride has gone into the property by the owners and the landscaping and lake is amazing.
Our group had an awesome time. The view from the house is amazing and it is fully equipped with everything we wanted or needed. I would recommend the hideout to anyone interested in visiting the area. I wish we would have had more time to visit the private lake, but we did find at least a couple hours between motorcycle rides. The lake is quite the little slice of paradise. The lake is clean, aerated, and has paddleboards, noddles, tubes, and a charcoal BBQ.
The only complaint I can think of is that I forgot coffee on the first day and we couldn’t find any in the cupboards. A single serving of coffee would a welcome addition :)
We stayed here back in the fall. Oh wow, what a great place! We were in the apartments and they were exceptionally clean. They were so beautifully decorated and so comfortable! The property around it was pristine. I cannot wait to come back and without a doubt would stay here again. Great people!
Since my stay here with friends and I can't stop thinking about it! What a perfect place for a relaxing get away. Jim and Christine really have thought of everything to make sure a stay here is the most enjoyable. So nice that they had a paddle board we could use, so I could finally give that a try! I loved it! After spending a few days hiking at Glacier National Park, a few days and nights here relaxing at a peaceful, private lake was the perfect way to end our trip to Montana. I still can't believe I saw a bald eagle swoop down to do a little fishing of his own! I'll be back for sure and can't recommend it enough.
What a wonderful place tucked away from everything but yet so easy to get to. It was a magical place and time. We went as a family to celebrate a milestone birthday. We made it a surprise and our hosts helps us, with a fun surprise waiting for us when we arrived. So unexpected but so kind of them. Everything was wonderful. From the house being so well stocked and well prepared. The lake was so clean and with lots of fun toys to use. They have thought of everything. Private and secluded. A great place to recharge. And the views were amazing. We will return. Can't say enough, I could go on and on.
This is the true Montana experience. The views are spectacular. You can see all the way to Canada. The Rockies are beautiful. Short trip to Glacier Park, beautiful private lake to swim or fish. Lots of Bald Eagles waiting to do their fishing. The buffalo are so majestic and babies all around. Jim & Christine are the perfect hosts. Very friendly and are very serious about your having a wonderful time. Bring several friends & stay in the house or the apartments are very country cozy.
