My family built this home in 2007 and we have been making improvements every year since. We enjoy the home and the lake and hope you will too.
Still Waters was an amazing holiday house for our family. Jon and Chrissie were wonderful hosts. Thank you for helping to make Christmas memories for all of us.
This is our second year staying at this house and we love it. Plan on returning next year. The owners did some real nice upgrades to the house which are great. The game room is really shaping up nicely. Some new appliances were also added in the kitchen. When we arrived for our long weekend, the owners called to make sure that everything was in order. Because it was a cold weekend in December, we didn't use the dock but view is always beautiful year round. Location is perfect and only takes 15-20 minutes to get to stores, etc.
Thanks you for letting us stay in your home and we look forward to another adventure to SML again next year.
This home is just absolutely perfect in every way. We celebrated our family Christmas there this past weekend. While several of us stayed in the house, the other group drove and met up with us. All in all there was at one time a total of 25 people in the home for Christmas dinner. The open floor plan let us all be together. We were all just blown away with the view. We all gathered in the home's theater and watched Christmas movies and was also able to enjoy family videos from past Christmas. The kiddos player air hockey and other games downstairs in the game room. The double oven was great for baking multiple things at once. The home was kid friendly with toys and car beds. Overall just an awesome experience and very accommodating.
Have you ever rented a house through the internet only to find out it wasn't exactly as it seemed? Well, that didn't happen when we stayed at Still Waters on Smith Mountain Lake for Thanksgiving! We had four families (8 adults, 4 kids) so the 6 bedrooms and 4.5 baths were perfect for us. 3 full stories of living space, so we put all the kids on the top floor. They had their own bath, a central play area well-stocked with board games and seating and views of the lake. The main living space featured a large, incredibly outfitted kitchen (double ovens!!!) with a great room overlooking the lake. 2 massive master suites on either side, laundry room, decks off of each master....I could go on and on.
But we're not done here. Down in the finished basement was two more large bedrooms and a bath. The game room in the center featured ping pong, foosball, air hockey and some exercise equipment. Private porches for the bedrooms, views of the lake. Access to stairs leading down to the boathouse with paddleboat and kayaks.
But I'm still not done: the basement featured the most awesome in-home theater I've ever seen. It was decorated like a movie theatre, with 15 old AMC movie seats, backlighting, big screen projection unit, surround sound....you name it. Large collection of movies for all ages.
Since it was rivalry college football weekend, you can imagine where we spent all of our time.
I would rent this house over and over again and can't recommend it enough, especially for large families. Plenty of room to spread out, easy access down to the lake for water activities and lots to do indoors. Perfect for keeping kids entertained. Cooking our massive Thanksgiving dinner was a breeze with the double ovens.
We rented Still Waters for a weekend celebration of my parents' 65th anniversary. The celebration was a complete surprise for my parents who live just 15 minutes away in Moneta. My 3 siblings and I and our spouses were there for the party as well as most of the grandchildren and 2 great-children. Still Waters was perfect for our purpose. Although we did not all sleep there, the bedrooms were just right for those who slept there. The house had plenty of living space, and was laid out very well for a social get together of the type we were having. We could cook and eat and sit all in the same room and talk to each other. Or if we wanted a little quiet, we could step out onto one of the decks and have a smaller group conversation. The house was beautiful and well-equipped. Everything we needed was already there. The great-grandchildren used the games. One of my brothers cooked on the grill and I used the fully equipped kitchen. We took turns visiting with my elderly parents and playing in the water with the boat brought by one of my brothers. We also used the kayaks, the lifejackets, the rope swing and the dock for playing. Everybody had a fabulous time! Especially my parents!
We came from CT, NJ, NC and VA for a family weekend. Very nice stay. The weather kept us indoors on Friday. But, with the game room and the movie room, we were able to pass the time with no ill effects. Saturday was very nice and we were able to enjoy the dock area, paddleboat and kayak. Great views!
